I think Susanna danced with Raymond and kissed him because of his disappointment in not having the date. It was a kind gesture.
@tonyponchopeters
@tonyponchopeters Год назад
I know right! It's so strange that some people show kind gestures, and they immediately think it's intimacy. Suzanna is Italian. European's are not hung up on ridiculous things like the U.S, you guys see people hugging or shaking hands and you immediately think they're cheating or dating.
@thegorn68
@thegorn68 Год назад
@@tonyponchopeters EXACTLY!!! I've seen most of the Rain Man reactions on RU-vid and it's weird to me how younger generation reactors freak out over what Susanna does. It's such a sweet moment and they act like they're watching a scene about child molestation or something. Leave it to a whole generation growing up where they experience human interaction VIRTUALLY more than in person to not get that scene.

They both did such a phenomenal job cruise showing the difficulty on a family in this circumstance you are watching your sibling constantly always trying to figure out more about them . I have a sister with autism and I remember that when she was born there wasn't much awareness, but I can tell you Hoffmans outbursts were TRULY like a real life person living with autism. Hoffman was phenomenal and even Cruise was just as phenomenal in this movie .

You HAVE to do Tropic Thunder. Tom Cruise’s best role ever. Comedic genius movie by Ben Stiller. Cast is FIRE!!!

I'm pretty sure I saw this around the time it came out. One of my favorites, for sure. Tom Cruise & Dustin Hoffman! Both legends so you know it'll be great. I guess it was kind of a compromise though. Now he knows he has a brother & can continue building a relationship w/him. And def don't feel bad for laughing...I thought it was hilarious. AI think I felt every type of emotion throughout. My fave scenes were the airport & when he was on that families porch about to freak out

"What you have to understand is, four days ago he was only my brother in name. And this morning we had pancakes." This is a great family movie about brothers, a rare subject matter for Hollywood. As much as I detest how they treat General Custer, I think Dustin Hoffman's performance in Little Big Man (1970) is his absolute best. If I wasn't a student of history, I'd buy that movie's revisionist agitprop. I still recommend that movie thoroughly. Fun Fact: The elderly man in the waiting room who talks on and on about the Pony Express is Byron P. Cavnar, an 89-year-old local who was in the waiting room when the crew arrived to film there. He got to talking on his favorite subject, the Pony Express, and director Barry Levinson got such a kick out of it that he let Cavnar keep on talking as the cameras rolled. All his dialogue was spontaneous and not scripted. Best Ending Fact: Dustin Hoffman fought for the ending where Raymond goes back to Wallbrook, even though the screenwriters both wanted him to end up with Charlie. Hoffman thought it wouldn't be true to Raymond's character if they had him stay. Historical Fact: What Raymond Babbitt says about Qantas was, and still is true. From 1921 to now, Qantas has never lost any jet airliners. They even promoted one of the movie's writers to first class once when he travelled on their airline.

It is also a fact that Qantas is the only major airline that keeps the 'airport scene' in their on-flight movie.

1. Hoffman really did fart in the phonebooth. Being professionals, they worked through it in character. 2. The casino would have swapped out the dealer before taking the step of kicking them out. 3. The high-end hooker was just working, and it's doubtful she turned them in. 4. I suspect Charlie has a bit of his "piece of work" father has just as Raymond got the completely different personalities. (mentally/emotionally) 5. One of my top personal growth movies. 6. Hopefully, Charlie will be less self-centered and toxic.

hahahaha, he kidnaps him again, and that's the end of the movie, the 2 of them on a raft floating away from everyone :) Good reaction. Girst time, I have to check out more of your reactions.

Charlie & Raymond work as a great duo. They are complete opposites and they challenge one another to have to cope with new situations and grow. I think its clear how Raymond changes Charlie for the better, but don't forget that the reverse is true as well. Raymond's life is 100% structured and (though for his own selfish reasons) Charlie does push him out of his comfort zone. He gets to go on his first and only adventure, a cross country road trip to Vegas. He gets to wear expensive suits, flirt with women, learns how to dance, and wins thousands of dollars gambling at casinos. His whole life what makes him unique has been a "problem" that people around him have worked to overcome. Charlie is the first person who (again, for his own selfish reasons) sees Raymond's unique way of interacting with the world as a potential asset, a gift rather than a curse. He gave Raymond the opportunity to be a hero, a "genius," as he said. Charlie is the only one who is convinced that his brother is still "in there" somewhere. He is extremely abrasive and rude to him...like a brother. Again, he is the first person to treat Raymond like a human being, no filter, the only one to argue with him rather than always cater to his wishes. To put it simply, Charlie's hypothesis is that his brother can do things that others don't believe he can. Sure, at times Charlie's expectations are unreasonably high and he is forced to accept that his brother does have limits, but Raymond DOES adapt to new situations, learn new skills, and grow in profound ways. That much is revealed when Raymond chooses to rest his head against Charlie, something he would NEVER have done with anyone before. It may not seem like much, but it was a breakthrough moment for his character that speaks volumes. Charlie was right. Also, I love that little line at the end when Raymond says "K-mart sucks," and Charlie is so proud.

Great reaction. I recommend you that you watch the drama Kramer Va. Kramer (1979) for which Hoffman and Meryl Streep won Oscars. When ad executive Ted Kramer comes home his wife tells him that she is walking out on him and their 6 year old son.

I am a film fan. I have been watching films, unfortunately too many, for 20 years. That's why sooooo many films that are currently coming out bore me so much. I came across your channel because of Inception. Your perspective on the script... motivation, character development and story arc is so exciting that I definitely want to see more of your videos. Btw. In terms of acting, Dustin Hoffmann easily plays the dear Tom Cruise on the so-called wall.

Notice all the pity moments in the beginning of the movie go to Raymond, setting him up as a main character after making you think Charlie is the main character.

A lot of this movie is supposed to be comedic so it's okay if you want to laugh, even though the sentiments of 1988 are particularly ignorant when it comes to autism by today's standards.

Hey, Jake !!! I'm new here - Blue. I'm listening to your intro - one thing to say before i jump in; you certainly picked a wonderful movie to watch today. This is a favorite for me, so, ... let's go !!! Liked. And subbed. There's another film from about the same time which i aways think of as being akin to RAINMAN: AWAKENINGS (1990) Robin Williams, Robert De Niro. I'd like to catch your reaction to it. Peace -

This needs all the accolades. Two generations of actors joined in a deeply touching story. But you put a finger on the nose: Cruise can’t be a good person while playing an asshole this convincingly. Even if the character gets some redemption.

Look into “Shakespeare In Love” One of my personal favorites as a writer myself and, it has a good amount of historical tidbits mixed Tremendous cast, set design,wardrobe and of course the script. It won Best Picture over Saving Private Ryan- it’s pretty good

Yes, Tom Cruise plays a jerk in this movie, I guess over the years he has gotten some bad publicity, but when he first appeared on the scene he was portrayed as a really nice guy. You should watch Born on the 4th of July, where he plays Ron Kovic, (a real Vietman vet) he was great in that movie, very different role, I think his best.

Dude I laughed my ass off when I watched this movie the first time, ya know back then when everyone wasn't super sensitive. I believe they wrote alot of this as comedy especially Tom Cruise's frustrations with Ray. But this is by far not even a close second of my favorite Drama. I love all aspects of this movie.
