Fucking hope so. It’s an absolute travesty how the mountain bike Mecca of the world has never had a World Cup. I’ve got some friends who’ve got some friends and apparently when the UCI had come to location scout in the past, upper management did not want to dedicate the funds to making a new track for a World Cup and proposed connecting existing trails within the park. This trail is literally 6-7 years in the making with the initial push coming from a bike park manager who quit when the Vail takeover happened. Line scouting and building has been happening since 2020 and fuck is it cool to see it come to fruition!
Man 1199 looks even better than I imagined. Hats off to all the trail crew and visionaries that made it happen. Bummed I cannot make it to the Canadian Open DH this summer but will be up next summer and fingers crossed for World Cup DH in the future. Certainly a track worthy of Stevie's legacy!
I’ll be doing a lot of work in and around this epic course with the events crew this summer which I’m super stoked about. Some of those features are so big but look so much fun to ride at speed. Glad you’re enjoying it so far and hopefully I’ll see you around- thanks for the preview !
I think he considers himself as a freerider and probably isn't into racing anymore. Probably he's also not fast enough for dh wc anymore 😅 for hardline you probably have to be invited?
Yeah he said he used to race but it wasn't really fun for him, so he became a freerider. Racing also takes a whole lot of training and travelling, which occupies a lot of time he would otherwise spend for content creation - and since content creation is the source of his income, and racing surely makes less money than he currently makes, it doesn't really seem like a good deal. That's just my 2 cents tho
He has forearm & hand pump in races. I wouldn't think this the case because of how smooth he rides, but racing you have to be 100% physical. Some days I have it for no reason. It makes riding fast and hard, really painful when I get it, and I can't feel the terrain.
