What if the college your agent has promised a seat in is not even registered?

Thank you so much for talking about it. I got full scholarship (RA+scholarship+TA) support at University of Toronto, and studying their almost transformed my life. I have been in Toronto for 12 years now, and we have been witnessing this change since 2015-16, and have been deeply concerned about this. The issues is with the diploma colleges, most students (mostly from Gujarat and Punjab) use this route just to enter in to Canada. This is mere easy immigration scheme. Most of this students are only interested in low paying jobs. There are at-least 2-3 sucide cases among these students. The entire system of agents, real estate owners, and company operators are just purely exploiting them.

For residents of Canada fee was 5k for an year and then i looked at the fee for international student for same course and I was blown away. It was 18k for an year. 4 times the fee for domestic student. So much fee for learning programming languages that u can literally learn for free on youtube. In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. I am happy that so many years later videos like yours are saying essentially the same things that I did. I was ahead of my time. I will never go back to Canada. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, xenophobic people, too depressing. As Indian working in tech in canada. It has been not the enjoyable experience so far. Salaries are low, expenses are high. I was saving more money in India. I never did worried about monthly budget in india but here we plan everyday. Canada is turning more like communist country where low income barely survive after grants from govt but average income households take all the burden by paying taxes. Health care is also joke, at-least in india you can pay the doctor and in canada, you will be lucky if you will get family doctor. Economy is weak, it’s ballooned by the immigration. Wages growth are low. If you are having good jobs in india, think twice.

Few thousand here n there is not an issue now, whereas earlier in India we worried about sudden expenses popping up! Healthcare too, we haven’t seen what you say, we have a family dr, access to all procedures etc. Friends daughter had to have open heart surgery, zero dollars charged. A friend told me she spent lakhs in Mumbai to have her baby, here I gave birth for zero dollars, with excellent care! We own a 2000sqft, 3 stories home, whereas in Mumbai we could only afford a 550 sqft 1 bedroom apartment. So, at least for us Canada was far far better in every regard. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@rahulasthana5049 Huh? Where did I insult India? I have relayed my exact life comparison in India & Canada. If you finds facts insulting that’s not on me. That’s your perception. Plus I will tell you this, I found it much better to have a social life in Canada than in India. In India, we lived in Pune for work, whereas we are from Mumbai, so didn’t have much friends circle &found it difficult to make good friends. But I’m fact here in Canada we have a very big circle & a very active social life. In fact in India my friends complain of zero work life balance & excessive working hours, leaving no time for family time. But here I enjoy work from home, with very flexible working conditions. My friends & ex coworkers from India almost all the ladies have to hire maids & Nannie’s to take care of their own kids, as they have almost no time to give to their own children due to work hours being so hectic. Here I’m done my work by 3.30 pm latest & can spend all evening with my children every single day, plus most cities in India require torturously long commutes taking anywhere from 1-2 hours each way. Here most of my friends who even go into work are only taking about 30 minutes each way. Each & every thing I mentioned is factual. It’s not about material things for me, it’s about quality of life, of which India offers almost nothing. Life is consumed by just the burden of day to day struggles! No thank you! I for one am extremely happy with my Canadian citizenship. Happy that my kids are born here & that they won’t have to deal with all that we had to deal with in trying to immigrate for a better life. @@chadmagnifici2347 sure different people have different experiences, but mine are equally valid. Canada gave me a much much better quality of life, way more money, better housing, good work life balance etc. When my friends share the school fees for their kids in india I nearly faint, as here our kids go to good public schools with very negligible fees. I can own two, three cars & drive around without wanting to kill myself with the incessant honking on the roads. Plenty of good roads & ample parking spaces too! Overall I am absolutely satisfied with my decision to move to Canada & take the Canadian citizenship. Others may feel differently, to each their own! 🤷🏻‍♀️

As a Canadian, don't come here. We are trying to fight for fair wages and a better electoral system and our government and politicians uses immigration to undermine our efforts. Whenever we get even close to having enough people quit their jobs to protest for higher wages, the government just replaces us. We understand its not foreigners fault but our government uses foreigners to keep our wages low and our voices unheard. Because of that we do resent a lot of immigrants who come here. Excellent content addressing the true reality in Canada for many students. In my perspective I blame the students and parents who do not do a proper research on the educational institution before applying for a visa. I see it as a community pressure in most parts of India where a neighbor sends their kids to study to Canada and others follow it . While the situation seems true for many, some knowingly take this risk to gain entry into Canada as a student to establish a residency by all means. On the other hand how are these unqualified institutions in Canada given license to operate? Who approves them in the first instance? It's indeed a billion dollar economy and that gives me a factor of doubt. Hope this video spreads more awareness to students and parents who are wishing to make that Canada dream come true..

It is tough to get a good job nowadays in Canada unless if you bargain for low salary. If you start with low salary, please don't think you will get higher salary in the future. Low salary will lead to change in payscale from the employers perspective. Currently it is so tough to buy a house since most of the professionals are on paycheck to paycheck. Mortgages are a huge burden. Think twice before you leap as they say Grass is not always greener on the other side.

Canada is a great country to live if you hit all the chord. Of course, it's beautiful, vast, less crowded, clean and full of opportunities. The country has great infrastructure. Many people coming from certain parts of the world may not have all the luxury. However, people, who try to abuse the system by taking shortcuts, are going to suffer. It's not the case for just Indians, but people from many other countries are part of this. This is important to set your priorities and do due diligence before taking such big steps. If someone wants to experience a life in a western country by doing any jobs, there is a requirement for many low-skilled or manual jobs, for example trucking in Canada. I met a taxi driver who was a lawyer in India and now drives taxi and is very happy about it.

@@King311___ But why? Why people in India see a taxi driver or a plumber etc. a subhuman job?? I am myself an Afghan-Canadian, living here since 2002. Personally, I have not known a single person here who disrespects, talks down or sees any member of any profession less humanely. Be it my extended relatives, my colleagues in work, or for that matter people who I know in my usual grocery stores have not behaved disrespectfully because of their profession. When I see my family doctor in clinic or an uber or taxi driver that serves me, I equally greet and thank them for their service. I genuinely want to know why in some countries, some professions are seen of lowly??!!! I am not denying there is no racism, in some parts very subtle in some very outright and direct. My argument is solely discriminately someone based on his/her profession.

@@farez88 It's not like everybody in India thinks like that. I was saying in the context that if an Indian sees another Indian doing non white collar jobs especially somthing like sweeping etc mostly they would just consider him / her as useless or a failure. For Indian and Chinese folks etc only white collar work is worthy of respect and something to be proud of. This is because they love to brag about their kids infront of relatives and friends you know. Similar mindset exists in east asian communities like the Chinese. Just watch some Russel Peter's standups on these two communities and you'll get the idea. Btw, you afghans make some awesome chicken. The Australian Government changes PR requirements so often that students end up spending more money than planned - many give up and try Canada instead. At least one RU-vid channel exists by one such student who spent 5 years in Sydney NSW, but finally got her PR in Canada instead. Indian Consulates and High Commissions in all these countries are useless - they won’t even pick up your phone calls, their terrible websites won’t work on most browsers + tech support is always too late/stupid!
