Lawall presents a reasonable prize 'modernized' baroque guitar, developed by Thomann, which is good for studies and small concerts.

Thank you for this unheard before repertoire played so transparent and lively. Specially the ricercari of Da Crema are so serious and the different voices sing clearly like monks in a monastary. After all this modernized baroque guitar sounds great and it is hard to believe it only costs 500€ !!!

Let me inform you that in Italy around 1770 the first 6 string baroque guitars appeared!!! The american collector Forderer shows one here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uYs9f909vxw.html and there are many baroque guitars that where altered around 1800 to 6 strings.
@coolguitarschool792
@coolguitarschool792 4 года назад
Thank you, it seems that evolution paralleled piano and guitar. Harpsichord became pianoforte (which allowed to play pian e forte) and the guitar 6 single strings with a better sound and handling.

Hello I would like to know how loud/quiet this instrument is compared to a modern classical guitar. also is it okay for flamenco play?
@coolguitarschool792
@coolguitarschool792 3 года назад
It is nearly as loud but its not as full and the sound is baroque since the strings don't run over a brigde. You should not be a baroque or flamenco purist anyway ... listen to some other recordings on this channel. This is something like early flamenco sometimes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-42vDMgV8yNs.html

@georglawall6022
@georglawall6022 3 года назад
@@StudioNalli No! Since it is limited playing most regular guitarstuff (classical, Latin, Flamenco, Jazz)! The low strings end at the 10th fret the high at the 14th! I like its nasal baroque sound but if I had to choose ... on top the fretboard is narrow. Imagine a classical without the deep string and the 6 strings begin with A !!

Just a quick question. Why would you buy this instead of a classical guitar? They're tuned the same right?
@georglawall6022
@georglawall6022 3 года назад
I would only buy it besides a classical guitar for playing old music if I don't want to play it on a vihuela!!! You wouldn't want to play Chopin on a Harpsichord! The intonation is different. Watch how the strings are tied! Hear this as an example for the real sound of early music! But the handling of double strings is different! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2F0LENez2yI.html

Why do they call it baroque guitar? Because it has a moustache bridge and a rosette? This is simply a small guitar with baroque visuals. Good playing though!
@georglawall6022
@georglawall6022 3 года назад
You're right. They call it 'with baroque features'. It seems to be an industrial made Stradivarius 5cs copy that is altered to a 6 string. The rosette is not worked out. But its good to dive into the baroque sound and meanwhile I bought a real baroque guitar and a vihuela! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gGTaulTZYz4.html

This instrument is not a baroque guitar. The baroque guitar has four double strings and one simple (E). Total, 9.
@coolguitarschool792
@coolguitarschool792 4 года назад
Thank you for the ball! The instrument you discribe is called vihuela in the renaissance and Luis Milan, Narvaez, Valderrabano, Mudarra used it with 6 courses. In an act of simplification we call it a baroque guitar today as we do with another instrument Robert de Visée (a.o.) used later in the baroque area. The instrument used here is also a guitar build with nearly all baroque features and the 6 guitarstrings. There is a painting with Sor playing such a guitar, he might have called it a baroque guitar as well!
@dpfr8543
@dpfr8543 4 года назад
@@coolguitarschool792 I play the vihuela (no "vihuala") and I have a very good instrument made in Catalonia by Patrick Hopmans. The vihuela is not a Renaissance guitar (four orders). Tuning is similar to Renaissance viol. Vihuela is actually another instrument with 6 orders, as a small modern guitar, but 5 strings doubled and 1 simple. Ferran Sors (this is the original name in Catalan, not "Fernando Sor") had a Romatic guitar, of course.
