Thomas is excited to take the children to their annual sports day. He can't wait to win a medal and be number one. But when he arrives, he sees that Bertie is also competing. Thomas is determined to win, but he soon realizes that it's more important to have fun and be a good sport.
In the end, Thomas doesn't win the race, but he does win the hearts of the children. They give him a medal of his own, and Thomas is happy to be number one in their eyes.
