@@AudioAtmos I may have missed him having hair almost as much as he did. I never fully accepted his baldness, so it was like seeing an “old” friend. Made my day.
Can’t wait. The New Sound Agency are huge fans! TD opened the gates to our minds eye, and helped us navigate to Budapest by blimp- all the while keeping our spirits up via the Airwaves. TD you are the best.
Unstoppable..... your constant outpouring of talent over the last 40+ years has thrilled so many people..... Thank you.. P.S. can we have some more music soon.... if you get a spare few years.... please. 🙏
Huge fan. One listen on a friend's walkman of "Dissidents" in 1984 made me an instant convert. As a theatre artist, I found the construction of "Aliens Ate My Buick" inspirational: starting with a phallic Ferrari and eventually reaching Budapest, built on the ashes of the Jews (before one last bop w the cube). In other words, made me look deeply at composition of the whole in my own work - especially the use of humor as you add complexity, guiding us to a more serious and receptive place. (sorry for the dissertation, but it really had an effect on me!) At any rate, your new hair RU-vid video caught my attention tonight (you look great!) - and by chance this video popped up. I can't wait to read your novel! I thoroughly enjoyed your biography, "The Speed of Sound." 🤞there'll be new music to come, too!
Hi Thomas, i enjoyed your biography, and i'm looking forward to read your first novel. Meanwhile listening to the Map of the Floating City which is one of my favourites. Best wishes🙏
I love Thomas Dolby first for not letting MTV define his genius. The result is one of my all time favorite albums Flat Earth. Second, prowess in cellphone technology and now a book! It goes to say be true to yourself and the rest will follow.
I once went to a masquerade party dressed as Flat Earth era TMDR in my father’s white suit, circular welding specs and a haircut I had a local barber copy from Dolby’s Musician magazine cover. I won best costume and danced with the prettiest girl at the party humming the melody to Airwaves into her ear. Old school good times! Congratulations on your literary achievement! Can’t wait to have my copy!
Wait a minute. I thought he was bald, now he has hair. What kind of science is making this possible? I need some of that. Is it a Turkish transplant? Is he sniffing Japanese pheromones? Is it a Captain Kirk helmet? Bald or with hair, he rocks. I love music videos from mental asylums.
I’m looking forward to getting a copy. OMG Thomas Dolby has hair! Lol! Couldn’t help it. Being such an amazing storyteller that Dolby is I’m looking forward to this read.
If you want to retain all 10 fingers for future writing - and for your summer Tubular Tour - you should always slash away from yourself when using that box-cutter!!!
Considering we live in a digital age, old Skool paperback seems a bit of a gamble . Still nice your thrilled with it and hoping it appears to download and purchase on online apps.
Awesome. I want to read this. Please tell me there is/will be an audiobook read by the author.... The Speed of Sound is one of my favorite audiobooks ever.
Novel?! Why am I only hearing about this just now?! This is awesome news! Does it have its own soundtrack, too? 😁👍 Loved your autobiography, Mr Dolby, looking forward to adding this title to the top of my Wishlist!😊 (and, well, reading it too, obviously!) PS - loving the dust cover art as well!
@@AliciaKonHealth sorry, yes, or perhaps rather a ‘Memoir’: ‘The Speed of Sound - Breaking the Barriers Between Music and Technology’ (it’s also available on Audible, narrated by Mr Dolby himself; I highly recommend it! 😎👍
