Thomas Hampson and Rolando Villazón about Southpole (in German) Aspekte ZDF - Premiere production of South Pole at the Bayerische Staatsoper. Composer Miroslav Srnka and playwright Tim Holloway’s work, recounting British explorer Robert Scott and Norwegian adventurer Roald Amundsen’s parallel quests to become the first to reach the south pole, stars Rolando as Scott opposite Thomas Hampson as Amundsen. Hans Neuenfels directs the production, which is conducted by Kirill Petrenko and also stars Tara Erraught and Mojca Erdmann.
