Keep having great, intelligent guests, this might be even more interesting than tearing apart a car. Cory for #1 podcast host, he actually lets guests talk and not try to alpha every conversation on every topic like most podcast hosts.

Great discussion this gentleman believes GM are doing great things. I’m going to save this video and then use it as reference 3-5 years from now when GM files for taxpayer, funded bail out.

Thomas Kelly really hits his best moments in the last 20 or so minutes. What an amazing idea to have a distributed network of 3D printers in Oakland County to print batch jobs for anyone who needs them. I'd like to see that work side-by-side with some sort of makerspace. Pair them together in every large metro area.
@PeteHann
@PeteHann Год назад
Cory has a better understanding of the mfg technology required to bring components to scale. Additive printing might be better than reductive machining of highly complex exotic material components (rocket nozzles) but giga casting (die casting) a part every 40 secs is far better...
@rui518
@rui518 Год назад
why not add the 3 together a create a way to edit the casting using either additive printing or reductive machining? Fast iteration of 3D printing with fast production speed of casting... (I know I oversimplifying things, just discussing the idea...)

@@munrolivepodcast you need to be doing a tear down of a hydrogen truck, I don't care if it's Nikola but you need to put something on your channel. You also need to be getting on the phone with Dr Randell Mills of Brilliantlight Power or Get up with the boys over at Brillouin Energy and the work done inside SRI international labs. Bring them on your newfound "Podcast" You need to stop gaslighting your audience with this lame battery technology and start educating your audience on more advanced energy and propulsion technologies. Bout tired of all you battery boys 👦

It's not that wicked of a problem. We just need an open language and encryption than can be improved over time. Https could probably do it, though someone needs to take a close look.

It' a warning. This tech is coming, industry has to stay aware and adapt/adopt or get washed away. Think Kodak. Kodak was fully aware of digital photography. Kodak made the first digital sensors. But Kodak didn't see where photography was going and failed.

To me it seems like he wants every car buyer to get exactly what they want. That to me is a problem. Indulgence is what is driving the climate crisis. Endless consumerism. Imagine what the used car market would be. Trying to sell cars that are so custom. I think the resale value will plummet. Maybe that is a good thing. People might keep things longer. Maybe not.

OMG Corey, This guy hears your specific question re 3d sintered printing...And answers with a bs apples and oranges long winded marketing/ mba baffle em with bull answer! My new model S has no where near the content it ought to. no: electrochromic roof glass, massage seats, infra-red heated surfaces, ride quality that goes from jaguar supple to bmw sporty... it is still a fine car bc software and all the other things it is good at, just doesn't deliver what the germans deliver. of course the germans don't deliver the efficient powertrain,batteries and charging network Tesla does, and thats why i'm stuck with Tesla for at least the next 5-8 years. Thanks for your content Corey and team, but this guy is effing lucky Sandy Monro was not running the mike today,.Thomas Kelly would have a Lucchese-shaped dent in his arse on the way out the saloon door!!

What was left out of this discussion is the AI humanoid robot. A humanoid robot is a drop in replacement for humans. It will be able to do any task that humans can do, but do it better, faster, and more reliably. Add in AI and the robot will be able to learn any task humans can do. No need for specific task programming. That will be the end of human labor having value.

Come on you need to understand what are the manufacturing limits when you design. I do not believe in zero manufacturing knowledge. In personal projects when I think my 3D object for printing I know what are my printer capabilities and what works best. Like were to use vase mode if possible and how to get away using big diameter nozzle.
@HydrogenFuelTechnologies
@HydrogenFuelTechnologies Год назад
He's not suggesting manufacturing knowledge isn't important, he's just saying using ai, automation, 3d printing ect makes almost idiot proof manufacturing now. Anybody with a idea 💡 can use these tools to bypass all traditional engineering and manufacturing models and go directly from a napkin idea to finished product. Just opens manufacturing up to people who otherwise would not have the knowledge to fabricate a trinket by hand. Some people suck at fabrication but anyone can click print 🖨
