Not really. Fans wanted to be able to truly save him. They should’ve given us the option/feature to recruit him as a survivor, and let us lead Thomas back to the safe room. That would’ve been giving fans what they wanted…
@@DarthDimmadome The only problem is that it doesn’t make much sense for Thomas to join Frank. “Hey, even though you just killed my dad and brother I’ll come with you to the safe room.” Sure they were psychopaths but they were still his family. I’m just glad the option to spare him is there
@@theE83 if Paul can go from psycho to survivor, while being escorted back with the same two women he was about kill, I think Thomas should’ve been given a similar option. But I get what you’re saying.
Yeah, that's a real bummer. I played the original and thought, "Maybe I could spare this dude" but no. In both cases, Thomas is just doomed to die with his fans, whether or not it's to die by Frank West's hands.
It's got to be absolutely terrifying to see a guy walking around at normal speed, then he chugs a mystery drink and suddenly he's speedwalking at you at the speed of a car with a small chainsaw in his hand
I love how even though it's small, we get a little bit of background on why the Hall Family are killing people. I used to make up my own headcanons for psychopaths and for them I thought their reason for hunting survivors is because when I saw there lacked the mother/wife in the family; I like to assume she was killed when trying to save a survivor and that survivor in some way resulted in her death. Causing the Roger and the boys to become upset and distraught but it broke Roger and Jack that NOBODY is their friend and that every survivor is the enemy with only Thomas maintaining his innocence. But now it's all clear...they were nutters who wanted an excuse to kill people and the zombie apocalypse gave them that opportunity to act it out. It's sadly realistic when you think about it. But it goes to show sometimes there are people who are just nuts from the get go.
It didn't make sense that Thomas had to die in the original since he didn't want to shoot Frank at all. Glad they made this change and the fact that Thomas stops quick after a few hits and tells Frank he's sorry and tells his brother to stop is some attention to detail.
It actually makes perfect sense. If you wait to go for Thomas last that means you already killed his brother and his father you really think he’d be so willing to go with him after that?
@@AHappyBlackGuyI guess in the original after Frank killed both the father and brother Thomas still being hostile was trying to avenge them both. Still sucked that Frank had no choice but to kill him but I'm glad that Deluxe Remaster has Frank talking to Thomas.
@@SeriousDragonify Only Way To Find Out Is Survivor Status Via Overtime Mode Dead Rising 2 And Onward Were Built With Ending A In Mind So... According To OG Lore Hes Dead... As If You Check Overtime In 2006 Dead Rising His Status Is *Deceased* Frank Canonically Kills All Psychopaths
Bro, to experience this soooo many years later was amazing. As a kid, I had so much sympathy for Thomas. Didn't want to kill him. Took the other 2 out no problem, but I DID NOT want to take out Thomas. When I had the chance again 18 years later, today, I took the brother and the dad out first, then was prepared to then take out Thomas, but he wasn't firing back, then seeing him break down to his knees, my jaw was stuck opened, then I smiled happy that I didn't have to once again take him out when I didn't want to.
Well, if they're going to add more option to spare or redeem psychopath in future game remaster. I hope they add one for Sgt Boykin, as I'm always wondering if he could snap back in to his sense after rescuing his remaining squad mates.
I would love that, but maybe for someone else. Boykin history wise would make a way bigger chain of events. Since he can contact the military more easy, so at most he would be another víctim of Sullivan. I would like him to snap out, And sacrifice himself whit the grande to save Chuck And Rebecca from gas zombies, that could be a honorable ending for him.
@@lacuevademisgustos9172 You're maybe right, probably he gets Luis treatment at best after all. Speaking of Rebecca, I wish they let her live in future remaster. Her death was so unnecessary...
I was surprised when I found out Thomas has more dialogue after killing his dad and brother whenever i played the original game I always felt bad for the guy it would’ve been nice he can be taken to the security room in both games but im glad the dialogue was added in deluxe remaster it’s definitely one of the best things added
They didn't just make him reluctant to shoot in the cutscene, even in the game he's extremely hesistant and just slowly backs up if you get too close. They really made him an optional takedown in the criteria to get Wayne out of there. Of course, level minmaxxers will probably mow down Thomas anyway to get levels faster, so this isn't necessarily going to be seen in all playthroughs. Speedrunners will benefit, though.
True. In the Wii version you can save Cletus. And then he becomes the merchant from resident evil 4 ( wotcha buyin) . It’s a good game for what it is. It’s still copying Resident evil 4 tho
There’s a lot of content that was in the beta that they put back in this version. I’m sure I read somewhere this was the original ending for this encounter
I just kinda wish you could save all three of them. Maybe you do a certain amount of damage to each of them without killing them and they'll all surrender. Leaving Thomas alone with his family honestly feels terrible I'd rather they be saved.
Oh man! Props, I was hoping they did this, always felt so bad for killing that guy. If DR2 gets remade, I hope the tiger tamer gets the same treatment.
Okay, that is so cool. They actually kept Thomas' character into account. Always felt it was odd that Thomas would suddenly not care during gameplay in the original. Glad that's not the case here and I appreciate the dialogue too. Feels more alive.
Tbh, I wasn’t expecting this! Reading the title, my first thought was that it MIGHT have been unnecessary. You’re supposed to feel bad for Thomas. The dread of having to still k*ll him is part of the horror experience. Now that I watched this. Holy SHIT! That acting puts the dread right back in it! Ominous. Incredible job, CapCom!
Haven't played the original, but based on the comments here, I think Thomas not attacking and being spared is something that was added on this remaster. You'll have to kill him like the others in the original.
They should have anti psychotic medication for cliff and adam. Throw it at them and they snap out of the psychotic episode. But if you dont bring more medication to the security room you will come back to a quiet security room and all the survivors plus jessie, brad, otis, are dead. killed because they went back into psychosis. If you decide to continue the game adam or cliff deoending on who you chose to save will stalk you for the rest of the game. Gradually they will become more psychotic and agressive, killing any left over survivors in horrible ways. The ending for this scenario would be frank waiting for the helecopter as normal the pilot says his regular line "I SEE YA BUDDY I SEE YA" but instead of seeing the pilot die from franks point of view you see frank get mutilated by adam or cliff from the pilots point of view.
YOU CAN SAVE HIM?!!? Oh dang, he still can't come with you. But hey this is a really cool upgrade from the original. I always felt that Thomas didn't need to die.
damn ronald i brought food back but wasnt able to give it to him scoop failed he took 5 other people bummer. also annyoing when you have to walk away from some npc to have them follow you
"if i'm in the game talking to Thomas after killing Roger and Jack" Thomas: i just thought daddy and Jack liked hunt for sport... But when all this happened... they became so excited... They said they'd been waiting for a day like this... me: i am so sorry for killing your father and your brother... Thomas: I guess i deserve this... We shot at you first after all... me: look... if you want i can take you to somewhere safe but i ain't forcing you if you don't want to... Thomas: i'm... staying here with my brother and daddy... i can't just leave them behind like this... me: i understand just be careful out there and sorry again... Thomas: it's okay... daddy... Jack... i'm right here with you...
Originally He Was Unsaveable As I Imagine The Death Of His Brother And Father Traumatized Him But Here You Can Save Him Niche Cool Addition Edit: Uhhhh I Stand Corrected You *Almost* Save Him
So Thomas lived but can’t take him to the safe room? Idk, I kinda wish he was brought back to the safe room. Anyone know if he’s still alive when you go back to entrance plaza?
My head canon is that thomas escaped Williamete, like he hid himself from the special forces like how Frank and Isabella hid themselves, considering if he hid himself really well
Thomas changed in this year but capcom made Thomas to live instead of killing during the psychopath boss fight, back where in the previous 18 years ago of OG Dead Rising when the 2 sniper older brother and father are killed, Thomas was ready for the shoot. Now, the Deluxe Remaster so Thomas was given up and surrender himself or gets killed by frank if it was okay to achieve the new video game.
Why didn’t he just shoot them lol they added the ability to move and shoot at the same time so he could have just hid behind the pillar then popped out to shoot them then hid again so he don’t get shot. Homeboy was making more difficult then it was.
I like that they added this in but Frank would never react that way to someone who’s that traumatized. It’s so off character based on how he acts throughout the game imo
its not???????? Frank has shown compassion to psychopaths prior, look at Cliff. He never attacks them when they stop attacking, look at the gunshop psycho, he stops attacking him.
@@commanderwyn that’s what I mean tho, like Frank does show compassion to psychopaths like Cliff but to Thomas it comes off like he’s embarrassed to where he wants to help him but at the same time he doesn’t. It seems off character by that aspect alone.
I mean it's nice they did this but just leving him there with there bodys is still kinds sad he's just too Innocent that makes killing him seem kinda merciful knowing thst now just kinda sad
Is this remaster worth it? I'm not really bothered by not being able to take erotica pics, I just have mixed feelings about cliff and Kent's dialogues being watered down.
I kind of think this is really goofy? Like Frank akwardly telling Thomas that he's sorry for his loss and to "hang in there" like he didn't just kill his family feels really unfitting
Wow the voice acting seems like a downgrade for this encounter. They seem to be no pacing with the lines as they seemed rushed. Also Roger's voice just seems like he's just reading from a script and there is no emotion in it.
Actually it makes perfect sense if you'd bother to think about it instead of complaining. Making Thomas surrender if he is the last one standing instead of just mindlessly shooting at Frank removes some ludonarrative dissonance the original game had. He showed reserve about shooting at him in the cutscene, it only makes sense that he were to show remorse afterwards. You sound like you're just bitching because you a purist who doesn't like any change even if it is a good one.
