I knew Ringo Starr as the narrator of Thomas and Friends before I knew about the Beatles.

Same here. My mother would say that Ringo Starr narrated it and was Mr. Conductor on Shining Time Station, but it did not realize what that meant. Now I look back and I think how awesome that is and how luck I was to watch it.

Ringo Starr... I've been a fan of Thomas since I first saw it in 1994, and now I'm a huge fan of the Beatles, and only now am I making the connection between the guy who sang Yellow Submarine and Octopus's Garden and the guy who first narrated this show. Wow....

I watched the show on video tapes my grandparents had - presumably they still do, but I haven't checked lately - when I was a little kid. My favorite narrator, mostly because he's the narrator I heard the most, was George Carlin. May his soul rest in peace.

Ringo was such a good person to bring the show to life, but also when Thomas came to the US to do Shining Time he apparently got on so well with the whole cast and he loved working with the kids cast 😁

This is fantasic, really enjoyed watching, ah they were the good old days, Rev. Awdry still alive, Ringo Starr's narration and the wonderfully detailed models...*Dreamy sigh....* Shame Wilbert dosen't get the chance to say much, just kind of laughing along. Interesting also, just to point out, Wilbert shares his admiration for Clive Sprong, but dosen't mention C.Reginald Dalby! Thankyou ever so much for uploading!! Shame VCR's of the 1980's weren't of the quality of today's!

Ringo Starr was my favorite, and should of narrated Season 3-12 for US audiences, with Michael Angelis narrating the UK version, making two British narrators that narrate all English languages (Ringo for US and Angelis for UK/AUS/NZ).

"They weren't going to make them cheap looking" sums it up perfectly. Bluebird themes music, clearwater pictures...smoke generators, pioneering camera work specifically designed for Thomas (and later tugs) that is propper Thomas.

My little Ringo-kun is the only Thomas narrator I will love! He's got the voice of an angel! 😍

Ringo Starr, George Carlin, and Alec Baldwin. All celebrities I absolutely love and introduced through a kids show and I love their work outside of that. Ringo’s music and great personality, George’s fantastic stand up R.I.P, Alec’ great acting jobs in films like Beetlejuice and Glengarry Glen Ross. I’m glad I was introduced to them in this way

God, I wish they would show more of the original Thomas on TV nowadays, especially the Ringo Starr episodes. Get rid of the CGI c**p! I used to love old Thomas.

Been some good narrators for Thomas the tank engine and friends but none can be as good as Ringo. Wish he could have stayed on as the narrator to this day. One of the reasons why I started watching it and reading the books. Absolute legend

Someday, I'm going to read the biography of Wilbert Awdry. I'm currently reading about Walt Disney. After him I'm going to read about Milton S. Hershey, and maybe I'll read about Awdry after him. The book I chose was, "The Thomas The Tank Engine Man: The Life Of Reverend W. Awdry," and it's by Brian Sibley. My mom ordered the book on December 30th, and I can't wait to get it.

Ringo Starr's narration was like education, and Michael Angelis's narration in series 3 and 4 was like stand-up comedy 😅😅 Both were great in their own ways.

I love the clip of Thomas, Terence & the Snow. I think Ringo should have fitted my favourite part of Percy Runs Away in, as well. I'm sure his acquaintances would have loved to hear him raising his voice, as Percy whistles, and stares ahead, in wide-eyed horror. No prizes for guessing why. Cue the good old Runaway Theme Tune.

I seen this at SiFansite weeks ago and I would always thought that it has bought back some nostalgia feeling to the classic series of Thomas, with Ringo Starr as Wilbert Awdry commented "has done an excellent job". :) (Even though I'd born from about seven years later...)

It is such a shame but there we go. Things has to made quicker and cheaper nowadays to meet the shareholder's demands. Britt put a lot of heart into those models. There are still stop-motion like this around nowadays but it is quite few and far between. Aardman is the main one for this type of animation nowadays. CGI can also be good at times but it depends how much time they put into it, which cannot be said for newer Thomas.
