Thor: Heroes Return Omnibus Volume 1 & 2 Overview 

Bought the first one after your review. Now I have to buy the second volume as well ;) 👏🏻👍🏼

Great vid: I was trying to work out where it fit in my 90s run, and now it's clear. Directly after the 4-issue Heroes Return mini-series that ends the Heroes Reborn universe, right? Never read it when it came out, but now I get the feeling I missed out on an important element of that era. Love how you can see the artwork evolve through the two volumes btw: awesome. :)

At first I past on the Vol 1 when it first came out as I already had all the TPBs through this line. I remember reading the floppies when they were coming out starting with around issue 60 after Odin had died and really loved the story of Thor basically bringing Asgard closer to Midgard (earth) to better rule over us and all the conflict that ensued. As Randomtas68 mentioned I also had a difficult time going back to the beginning of the series and reading it via my trades as I didn't think Jurgen quite knew where to take the series. However, when IST heavily discounted the Vol 1 Omni a little while ago I am just finishing up that book and have to say the writing did start getting better towards the end (ends with issue 35). I am still waiting for Vol 2 to come in the mail and will continue reading knowing that the stories will keep getting better if my memory serves me. I'm glad Vol 2 also contains the final six issues of Thor:Disassembled during the Ragnorok storyline. A few years would pass w/o Thor again until JMS takes over and I wish I would have picked up that Omni. Oh well, still have the TPBs on that one too.

Great video again man. This was the last run of Thor that I loved and followed religiously. Haven't enjoyed much about Thor in the last 15 years. hated the jms run, liked Gilians kid Loki stuff and have DESPISED Aaron's run. I'm hoping the next writer can reignite the passion I used to have for Thor. Glad the stuff I loved is finally getting reprints for me to read again since Thor from the 60s till the end of that 2nd heroes return omni are favorites of mine.

My copy was delivered Tuesday, along with Thor volume 2, I also got Spider-Man by Micheline & McFarlane new printing, Marvel Cinematic Universe Omnibus, Exiles The Complete Collection vol.1, & Harley Quinn vol. 2

These both look mostly good to me. I already have the Simonson omnibus and have never read most of these as single issues, so could be fun to read them for the first time.

I recently finished vol.2, and I must say it was a fantastic journey. Of course it has some low points, but which series don't? I really enjoyed it, but it can't top Simonsons run, that is the best run ever. If you start comparing to other Thor runs then you definitely notice a lot of repeated plots, but instead I'm trying to appriciate every run on it's own. I would highly reccomend to pick this series up, while you can. Great video btw, thanks!

I wish I saw this video when it came out. Volume 2 is outta print now. Ughhhh!!! Thankfully I got a new copy of volume 1.

Now there's another 2 omnibuses I'll have to buy! I blame you ;)

Good to know it's a good Thor run. I love Romita, Buscema, and Kubert art and Jurgens writing generally, but this was a on-the-fence purchase for me since I generally stop reading about Onslaught. I'll have to grab these.

Great overview, Omar. Based on what you said I think I'll pick these up. I was wondering: I've heard that the new X-Men Revolution By Chris Claremont Omnibus has a couple of key issues missing. Do you plan on doing an overview of that Omni?

The first volume was one of the rare books that I regretted getting enough to sell it again. I liked the art, but I really struggled with Jurgen's writing. I think I got into the Juggernaut story before I just gave up the ghost. Each to his own though.

Romita could do 2 books aat the same time? what a beast! Did he also do Amazing Spiderman and Incredible Hulk at the same time in the 2000s?

I just received volume 1 today after delving into what I consider my comic reading journey. Started last week with the NEW 52 Justice League. My question has to do with availability and cost. Why was Volume 1 easy to purchase and cheaper but Volume 2 is nowhere to be found and if it is, it cost so much.

Possibility of Thor vol 1 omnibus getting reprinted?

These days, it looks like there are a million copies of volume 1 available and I got it crazy cheap. But volume 2 is impossible to find except for a few copies well over cover price. Argh.

The vol 1 doesnt seem to be available out here. Will i be able to grasp the story if i start with vol2 straightway?
