when you form a sound that is mega difficult to pull off live, this is what happens, props to the boys for challenging themselves at such young ages though. As I said, this sound is super fucking difficult to pull off. They do it well for how young they are, crazy talent here.
We live in an age where anyone can make production level mixes from their bedrooms, and I think you are correct in saying that the music they're making is extremely hard to pull off live consistently. I think what they need is a really good live audio engineer and maybe it's something they haven't taken seriously. IIRC The Dark Pool was mixed and produced by the bassist in his bedroom. So I'm curious to know who is behind the console at these live shows.
What should be noted is live music is like football or basketball, you got up and comers from college level that aren’t “pro” yet but will be pro, that’s kinda the beauty of it you get to grow with these bands, I’m a big northlane fan, and everyone was weary of Marcus but look at em now vocally, also with them saying there next album will be like nothing they done before you can look at that 2 ways. Negative way is they realize they can’t keep up this sound and the live performance will suffer, or the positive the way I like to look at it, some young musicians finding there sound and place, they dabbled with these tunes crushed em in my opinion and are trying to find balance. This way I’m not at home mad for something that has nothing to do with me(vocal performance) and can realize it’s the musicians art and I’m just here for the ride. :) Australia your killing it with these bands!!! Also to those saying they have never heard a voice like his check out illumanaudio by chiodos, there one time singer I’m that album sounds the same as this guy, it’s all influence it’s not copying we all depend on one another for creativity and inspiration.
For further context, I’m also a big fan of Thor hill as well, I think with time the vocals will clean up live they are all very talented, and fresh blood so they will level up big time on the road for years to come!
This song is just super choppy and hard to sing, you can tell how hard he pushed on the recording. In the falsetto parts it would be really hard to hear what you're singing on stage too. I guess I agree it sounds whiny, but I don't think it's because he's a bad singer

Caballero De Otoño well no he isn’t. It would be quite obvious if he was out of tune cause he’d be singing in the wrong key which he isn’t. He’s singing out of his vocal range which is why it sounds like that
