I think the colors and shading in these films really gives them a more theatrical film-esque look and feel, more so than the Chipmunk Adventure. Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman could pretty much be considered the Alvin and the Chipmunks series finale, and I think it gives the show a very fitting conclusion...
@@_gremlinboynah relating to it didn’t feel like relating to it when he is the most pure of them all 😭 it was like damn man they getting the best of us why am I even tripping about bullies 🥺😢 as a kid I hated it so I loved the Frankenstein one most
I remember seeing these growing up and feeling like it was an incomplete trilogy because there wasn't a third movie where Dracula moves into the neighborhood and Simon either some spotlight OR turned into a vampire. When I was younger my brain just made one up ripping off this one multipart "Archie's weird Mysteries" episode
Man, I think it's so cool that you put so much effort into your stuff when it'd be so easy to just to the Buzzfeed, bargain basement "hey, remember the thing?" sort of reviews so many people do. It's fun reminiscing on something I used to love as a kid being presented by someone who puts real value and humor into his summaries. This is why I look forward to your videos.
I knew I wasn’t crazy for preferring the Wolfman movie. I definitely remember watching both as a kid but the Wolfman one stuck out to me more. I related to Theodore’s confidence issues a lot and I thought he and Eleanor were really cute together. Great review, man. I’m glad I subbed to you.
Maybe just maybe if universal studios didn't lose the rights to the chipmunks we could've saw a vampire Simon...... Well at least we have fanfiction I guess 😔
Can you really call Theodore a werewolf? Werewolf literally means “man-wolf” and Theodore is a chipmunk. Wouldn’t he be a chipwolf? Man, I’m really overthinking things.
It's even more screwed up with Sonic's werewolf form being called a werehog! It would make a lot more sense if he was called a Hedgewolf, but I guess that didn't cut it for Sonic Team.
This has been out of my mind for legit 15 years now. Wow. I loved the Werewolf movie at the time. But I also watched Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island at the same age. Similar concepts but there's a reason I never forgot Zombie Island.
The Frankenstein one was my favorite of the two movies. The boys' relationship with the Monster (whom they called Frankie) was charming, adorable and even believable. In almost every story featuring an incarnation of Frankenstein's Monster; while most adults seem to want him dead, it's the children who actually take the time to get to know the creature (ex. Maria in the first Frankenstein film.) It's nice that the younger generation doesn't follow the same silly fears teens and adults have
@@ShahOfCLT tommy boy is a record label that be screwing over their artists, the last artists that really complained about tommy boy was de la soul, i wont go into that many details but they did them dirty
Yasss Dave was soo handsome in the Wolfman movie! Songs were definitely dope in that movie! Simon shined so much to me, I never rocked with him until that movie, and then I was shown that yay he is a good character, love with when he goes along with jokes but knows when to tone it back. Definitely my fav character now.
im late af but like can we talk about dave for a second?? his characterization in wolfman was really really nice imo, i really like how the 80s/90s cartoon took a character who was kind of a dick in the original 60s series and made him a really nice mature responsible and sympathetic dad
I remember seeing the scene when Theodore got bitten on tv like years and years ago when i was browsing through channels and i had never seen any of the animated Alvin and the Chipmunks episodes before or after that. I remembered that scene a few years ago and trying to figure out what it even was. Thank you for giving me my answer.
It really means a lot to see one of my favorite reviewers talk about these movies. I really enjoyed these guys as a child and still do so it’s nice to see other people talk about them in a positive light.
When you said that Theodore really shined in both of these movies makes me think of the Halloween special where he befriends a new kid who had a facial disfigurement. At first he tried to honor his new friend's request of keeping their friendship a secret. But Theodore realized that it was wrong and decided to tell his friends about the new boy.
I remember watching both of these movies and the thing that I remember the most was Alvin's cartoony transformation (which I kinda liked around that time) and Theo's transformation into a confident jerky theo.
Never, EVER been interested in them, except for the classic one where they go around the world... *LOVE IT* and can't think of other following one being that good or decently memorable, at least. Anyone here with the same opinion? Have y'all a safe and happy Halloween!
Though to be fair, I think that was the reason why Dave never got money back. He was using it to better the boys' education and putting it in stock. So, at least it came up for a reason for why they're broke?
*FINALLY!* I follow like twenty other movie and animation reviewers, and _none_ of them are talking about the older Chipmunks movies. Well, the Critic had a crossover with the Chick about eight years ago, but that's it.
I remember being super excited for seeing the Wolfman every Halloween because it was mostly likely my favorite movie at the time. I really wanna rewatch the two.
I never knew about the term musicality but I’ve always loved that shit in animation as well! I just found your channel and I’m already loving what you bring to the table.
I also rewatched Alvin Meets Wolfman VHS on loop back in the day. I'm SO HAPPY you covered the musicality in The Monster Out In You I was obsessed with that montage in particular. Fantastic video!
all of the lines from this movie are embedded so deep into my memory, i love their voices in the older cartoons, also i'm glad you appreciate the nickelodeon one, some folks are so quick to hate on stuff just because it's a reboot/remake or a modern version of older media, but i like it too, you really can't go wrong with the chipmunks in my opinion
I’m so glad you mentioned the new Nickelodeon cartoon. It’s really got that loving family vibe that the 80s had. I agree with you. Wolfman beats Frankenstein by a long shot!
being a dancer, specifically hip hop but others as well, i really was impressed by your musicality bit of the video and was pretty thankful that you got to share the concept of musicality with others outside of the dance world
I remember renting these from Mr. Movies all the time as a kid. That, and Bear in the Big Blue House. Aaahhh, memories. The Chipmunk Adventure was the best btw.
i LOVE these specials. i still remember the first time i saw wolfman, and it just.. gave me some sort of feeling inside? i didnt see the movie again for another decade at least. real nostalgia.
Didn’t know the term musicality until watching this video. Thanks for teaching it to me. It’s something I’ve thought about myself but never knew what to call it.
These are some of my favorite movies to this day. I can almost quote the wolf man episode word for word. It’s always a good way to relax when I get home from work. I always thought it was crazy cute how the actress for Brittany and Jennette married the actor of Simon and Alvin.
they've been married for over 40 years, even before the Chipettes existed. but it's no coincidence, she's the one who created them. and the two of them still own the franchise today, although they've been trying to sell it since two years ago.
Wolfman is probably the best out of all the chipmunk things, though i'm kind'a annoyed that there wasn't a Dracula movie to round up the classic universal creature features.
I had a dvd of these two movies (on the same disc i think, i could flip it over) and i was obsessed because i also rlly liked spooky things along with the chipmunks. This was my childhood!
The Chipmunk Adventure is un-ironically my favorite movie of all time. I was given the vhs of it back when I was 5 and I still watch it on my old vcr. These Halloween films are also pretty great. I'm glad I can watch them on Hulu now.
It's interesting. I didn't necessarily grow up in this chipmunk era (I'm going to be 19 so soon, where's my scorpio aliance?) I grew up with the 2000s movies (the sqeakquel, the films went down hill after that and don't get me started on the rebooted cartoon) but it did introduced me to the cartoon version (cartoons over live-action any day) and I got into the chipmunk movies too.
I've watched and enjoyed both these movies and I can say with complete confidence that the wolfman actually spooked me as a kid. The one with Frankenstein's monster was just enjoyable.
You mentioned Brittney's redesign in the Wolfman movie. As a little kid in the 90's I watched the repeats of the 80's show and the spin off Chipmunks go to the Movies and Brittney was probably my first innocent crush. As I said I was very young so it's not like I understood what was going on, I just knew that I really, REALLY liked seeing Brittney when she showed up in the show and would think about her sometimes. Cut to a few years later with puberty approaching on the horizon and having a clear understanding that I liked girls. My sweet crush on Brittney having faded as I was crushing on girls at school instead and then I saw Brittney in the Wolfman movie and I was like...DAAAAAMN!
I appreciate you looking at more obscure stuff. Although I never really got the appeal of Alvin. Really love that vid on the chipmunks designs from the 60s show and the 80s series.
Ooooo the nostalgia hit me hard with this one. I actually started singing along with the ending song from Wolfman. It's been at least 20 years since I've seen it. This video was well timed. Also, I'm pretty sure I had a crush on this version of Dave.
Im only 14, but I grew up with these films. I have the chipmunks songs permanently engraved into my memory💀 thank you for bringing me this awesome dose of nostalgia
All these JPB and hip hop references make your videos have so much replay value for me and my friends. Thank you for making quality content that’s funny, honest and layered
Your reaction when you hear Everyday Struggle in an Alvin and the Chipmunks video. Priceless. The reviews are thoughtful and well presented. Your personal opinions and your style help carry the flow and appeal throughout the content. Thanks for bringing attention back to good times in our youth! (Jesus is King lol)
I’d have to say the Wolfman chipmunks movie was my favorite. It had that eerie vibe down similar to like a Scooby-Doo movie with some adult undertones. Great vid!👏🏾
No joke: I watched the Chipmunk Wolfman movie the same day this video was released, but I only just saw this video today. I'm so glad to see there are other intelligent people out there besides me who recognize what a masterpiece this movie is for the Halloween season! Such a fun, wholesome film with a killer good soundtrack that I spammed nonstop in my living room growing up ^_^ This a great video Oh and the Frankenstein film is nice too.
It is strange the amount Alvin and the Chipmunks played into my childhood. I've somehow seen all these movies, and a few of the older episodes. I honestly probably never would have thought to much about them again if it wasn't for this channel. Edit: imma write that musicality stuff down. I notice it in a ton of stuff I watch and never knew it had a word.
