I like the sound of these locomotives when the engine spools up. Because they have a separate engine for the car power the propulsion engines doesn't have to run at synchronous speed like the F40s. Also.. The horns sound pleasant and the bells sound more pure and clear.
The MPXpress locomotives are still one of the best looking locomotives out there, though it sounds like MPI isn't building anymore once GO Transit's order of MP54-Cs is finished. Would love to see them fit a tier 4 GEVO engine (MPI and GE are now both part of Wabtech so it's possible) in them and keep making new ones.
Ahh Yessss Hello Beauties. Ahh Man I Mega Love these Beautiful Engines. I’m a hardcore fanatic of the MP36PHs. They sound soooo good 😌 ahh music 🎶 to my ears 👂 I also Mega Love my F40s but these have a way better sound. Thank God at least Caltrain is keeping these and there a lot newer F40s as well. San Francisco is a Green State, it’s an electronic state so no wonder why electrified at top paste. They want to blend in with there electric street fleet. I Love my electric trains but get a lot more excited with my EMD and GE Locomotive Fleets. Can you return back to Chicago Illinois ? Hehe and also to Virginia for VRE etc. but man hearing these locomotives accelerate is everything 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰plus there good sounding horns as well.
Having diesel locomotive on the Marc Trains makes sense because the Penn Line is the only electrified line on the Marc System. The diesel locomotive can operate on the Camden, Brunswick and Frederick lines as well as the Penn Line. Marc does still have several electric locomotives that serve on the Penn Line only obviously.
Great video ! I really like these MPI locomotives, and some of the liveries really stand out. I note you quietly omitted reference to the other MPI locos with MBTA - possibly because they have General Electric motors ?!!!
@@johnrobinson5205 they are at MPI getting an overhaul. They have had problems with their HSP 46s and they have also overhauled a lot pf F40’s. I’m hoping they get some of the Caltrain F40’s and overhaul them.
@@3985uprr I was under the impression that MBTA only has one MP36 and as mentioned is being overhauled presently, possibly being repowered as a MP40 (4000hp 710G engine and AC traction motors). Caltrain F40s would have to have a new brake system installed to work on MBTA. CalTrain F40s use lapped brakes with separated dynamic braking (akin to NJT's ALP-45/46) where MBTA F40s use automatic brakes without separated dynamic braking (they have dynamic braking but it only applies with the automatic brake). Those HSP-46s are impressive, they were the most powerful diesel passenger locomotive (4600hp) prior to the F125 (4700hp) and MP54-C (5400hp) and so far the only passenger locomotive to use the GEVO engine.
