I am from Jakarta. Yogyakarta is one of safe province in Indonesia. People are very kind and polite. It's something relate to their way of life and culture. Yogyakarta is my favorite city in Indonesia.
In Jogjakarta, many students carry out their education there. Their intention is actually to improve their use of English when they directly talk to foreigners. Because in Indonesia, if you see fellow Indonesians using English, it looks strange to local residents/Indonesians. That's why they are very happy when talking in English with foreigners. success and health always for you wherever you are.
He is from Central Java province, the same province as me (white clothes = fahmi and the other is from Bandung, West Java province (jay); Yogyakarta is a student city, there are lots of students from outside Yogyakarta... And by the way, I last went to Malioboro in 2018, so I want to go back to Malioboro someday for a holiday, because Yogyakarta is a beautiful place and makes me miss it. I’m a Sumatran. I graduated from one of the universities in Yogyakarta. Let me tell you, the people of Yogyakarta are some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met. There is a saying in Indonesia: ‘In other cities, if you step on someone’s foot, you will say sorry first. But in Yogyakarta, if you step on someone’s foot, they will say sorry first.’ They speak gently, are always ready to lend a hand. Yogyakarta is also dubbed the ‘Student City’ since there are lots of students from all over Indonesia who study there. Therefore, most of the people you meet on the road are young and educated. This city is also very safe. I believe Yogyakarta crime rate is one the lowest in Indonesia. Throughout my time studying there I never experienced any crime against me. In regard to the phrase ‘Be safe’, it doesn’t necessarily mean you are in an unsafe area. ‘Be safe’ is a standard farewell phrase in Indonesia, something everyone says when you are leaving.
Those 2 dudes are too innocent😂 they guide you and trying to practice their english, yet they didn't realize they forgot to introduce themself at the first conversation, so it's kinda suspicious when they follow you everywhere you go, 😂 lmao
Fr 😂 Even as an Indonesian myself, I'd be suspicious too. Because I had already heard about being careful of 'scammers' when I went there on a middle school tour in 2018 Ig. And nowadays about "going out at night in Yogya".
Pertanyaan2 seperti "Berapa lama kamu di Indonesia?", "Kamu sendirian?". "Kamu nginap di hotel mana?" itu bagi orang asing termasuk "pertanyaan yang mencurigakan". Beberapa RU-vidr asing yang bikin video tentang cara mengetahui penipu/kriminal sering menyertakan pertanyaan2 di atas sebagai pertanyaan yang patut dicurigai. Jadi sebaiknya jangan tanyakan pertanyaan2 seperti itu, tanya saja bagaimana kesan mereka terhadap kota yang dikunjungi, pernah mencicipi makanan apa saja. Jangan juga terus mengikuti kemana turis pergi kecuali sudah diizinkan terlebih dahulu, kadang orang itu lebih suka jalan sendiri. Tanyakan dulu apakah dia mau ditemani. Pertanyaan2 personal juga jangan ditanyakan seperti "apakah kamu sudah menikah", "Umur kamu berapa?", "Apakah sudah punya anak?" atau "Kamu kerja dimana?".
Kadang orang kita suka kepo se enak2 nya nanyain privacy orang , sudah nikah ? Kenapa belum nikah? Kenapa blom punya anak, kenapa ini,.. itu ,..?!! Ini yang mengganggu privacy ,..! Lebih orang asing mereka sama sekali gak suka dengan kebiasaan irang indo yg kepo,..! Saya aja suka sebel kalo ada irang nanya2 privacy kita,..?!
Betol banget 😂. Bahkan saya sama kawan saya orang german pernah di kepoin bapak2 Grab yang waktu itu nganterin kita. Mulai dari umur, status, kerja sampai fisik badan sibule, negara bule, bikini, lgbt, gaji semua deh ditanyain. Bahkan saya juga dikepoin kok bisa akrab sama bule😂. Untung kawan saya gak terlalu bisa bahasa indo. karena cuma turis doang di indo. Orang kita memang terlalu uneducated dalam hal privasi, jadi keliatan sangat kepo, annoying dan toxic. Seharusnya pendidikan kita mengajarkan apa itu Privasi dan apa yang boleh dan tidak boleh ditanyakan ke orang lain.
Kalo ada org indo yg baru kenal dan nanya2 privacy kita umur, udah kawin at belum, kalo udah kawin kenapa gak punya anak , kenapa ini ,..! Kenapa itu,..? BALAS AJA SORRY ITU PRIBADI PRIVACY GAK PERLU ANDA TAU,..!! Gituin aja ga peduli dia kesinggung atau nggak nya ,..! Wong dia yg nanya juga gak peduli kan apakah kuta keganggu dgn pertanyaanya,..!
This reminds me many years ago, when I was learning English, and once, I saw a tourist in my hometown buying cakes, I was so nervous but I wanted to practise my English. So embarssing, and since then I never did that again. I just learnt by reading and listening from recording materials.
They are nice people! But it;s true that there are scammers in Yogyakarta. The scammers are not "dangerous." They will just make you buy overpriced products, so be cautious.
Scam attempts are usually around Malioboro, when someone offers you to visit an art exhibition, but you will end up brought to an artshop and you will be welcomed, so you feel passively pressured to buy something.
True! We experienced this with my friend in jalan malioboro. He is german. At that time, I was walking too fast and my german friend was 3 or 6 meters behind me. And then there was this bapak2 nyapa kawan bule saya, awalnya nanya ramah darimana dan muji kawan jerman saya punya brewok dan rambut yang keren😂. Kawan gue itu memang brewokan, biasa bule ya. Kayaknya sibapak ngira si bule ini solo traveler, dia gak tau kalau kita berdua. Trus kawan saya di ajak ngeliat art exhibition gitulah, namun masuk gang agak kecil. Gue juga terkejut cok 😂 kok si kawan mau aja. Gue nyamperin nanya dia, "are you sure about this?" Dia bilang, "I'm sorry, I can't say no, he seems like a good guy"😂. Jadi kita sampe ke toko lukisan, sibapak terkejut kok jadi 2 orang, dan satu kok mukanya lokal😂. Saya ditanya orang mana, saya bilang saya orang Sumatra dan orang batak🤣🤣. Trus kita dikasih teh ngobrol2 ramah, sibapak mulai deh ceritain tentang lukisan2 nya. Yang btw harganya lumayan mahal yah😂. Dan lukisan nya juga bagus sih menurutku banyak detail. Saya udah ada perasaan kita bakalan di "guilty trap" nih sama sibapak biar at least beli satu lukisan. Namun kawan saya udah bisik2 dari awal kalau dia lagi gak pengen beli lukisan.😂 Akhirnya hampir 30 menit kemudian saya ngomong sama sibapaknya kita mau ke spot lain, dan kita butuh waktu berpikir dulj, dan nanti kita balik kesitu, kalau kita pengen beli lukisan nya. Sibapak keliatan mukanya agak kecewa.
indonesia people love to approaching foreigner for so many reasons, some of them is to practice their english, but also trying to figured out if they can assist you with anything, but most of them just trying to get a selfie (idk why 😂), but yes, sometimes they approaching you in order to seeking the chances to scamming you..
Hahaha...its normal as foreigner ...and the locals try to approach... First impression in many perception ... We do understood ... Indonesia is different ... We smile .. we approach .. We willing to make short conversation ...(Even just ask where are we from what your name) Just curriosity ..and feel amaze talk to foreigner ... We also willing to help ..if we had connected to the locals on our conversation way... Our character is different ...but some foreigner is miss perseption base on the background which country they from ..culture tradition event a way to socialize to the people ... Make upgrade to understanding how we socialize and being connected ... You Will amaze about our culture ... And a moslem in bigest moslem population in the world ... Every country/nation in the world has they own culture .. Even way to socialize and being connected ... Like many many foreigner said ... Indonesia is the friendliest people in the world .... Just being connected ..be a locals ... And you Will knew it and feel it ..
FUNFACT: Special Area of Yogyakarta province ever be the capital of Indonesia, and until now this special province is led by the king (Sultan) and you should come to the kingdom area. Its nice to record and learn something about history and java culture
Actually from jogja to Prambanan temple very easy and cheap 8.000 rupiah Get the train KRL Jogja - Solo and stop at Brambanan station, from this station to Prambanan temple, you can take a walk, or get becak or grab/gojek
*I usually use with the 🆔 (In Drive) and it's so quickly to use it. I always do it at Surabaya City, Geenyada. I saw you with the 2 students were walking together at the Malioboro street. Really they were students and just want to improve their English, Geenyada, but don't be worry about them.
Jogja udah gak seaman dulu, sekarang bnyk vandalisme premanisme, terakhir bulan lalu kepalaku d lempar batu sm anak" berkendara motor, kata polisi mereka melakukan itu scr random, trauma banget ke jogja
first of things I respect your comment about the strangers not in Yogyakarta but anywhere you go. Especially u are a muslimat which has specifically limitation from the sharia. good for you guy
i suggest you dont go to jogjakarta and make some friends..because you will miss it someday and make you want to go back..mark my comment, in the future when something realize you about it, this memories will haunting you all the time..trust me..
