Writing in the darkest shade honestly made me tear up. I work in optometry and we lose our colour distinction as we get older, I have so so many patients who can't see the world the way they used to. Little touches like that are what make something special.
I did the powerpoint at church for a while. At one point I asked grandma and the other old ladies for feedback. You bet those were the most contrasted largest font that would fit slides after that.
I work for a woman that's 103 years old!!! I feel blessed everyday to know her and work for her, she's the sweetest kindest woman she's got all her marbles and still walks around!! She's so amazing.
The "home girl won't make it" concern is very real, I feel ya'. My Granda passed away just two days before his 97th birthday. We still picked up the cake tho, then sent our prayer, blow candles, and eat it while crying tears and snot. I had the bakery remove the happy birthday and change it to "So long, Grandpa! Thank you for everything".
Seriously! I've worked in a grocery store for 16 years, a good part of it in bakery, and I still don't feel confident enough to write on cakes in cursive the majority of the time.
"I'm worried that homegirl won't make it." I CACKLED, only because we had a huge party for my grandpa for his 90th and he got emotional because HE wasn't sure he was gonna make it! Old people are usually pretty chill about the idea of death. They've had a while to get used to the idea.
My dad is the same way! 😂 He's 95 and every special event he says "well at least I didn't die before ___event 🤷♀️" he says it so nonchalant 🤣 it cracks us up and we always tell him he has good genes he's out living everyone. And he just side eyes us and says he better not 🤣🤣🤣
@Cat-tastrophee We planned a party for the evening of my grandma's 94th birthday but, sadly, she passed the morning of her birthday. We all miss her, but she lived a long, blessed life.
My grandma passed away a few years ago and her name was Violet. She always had her teacup and saucer which had her name and a painting of a violet on it and she would never drink tea from any other cup/mug. She even took it with her to the hospital and one of the last things she did before she passed was drink tea from her teacup. I now have her teacup sat on my windowsill.
I work at a airport checking people in, I’ve seen all different age groups travel but when I tell you there was this old man and his wife that walked straight up to my desk, no help, carrying their own bags, I would never have guessed they were both born in 1925 and 1926 only 2 years off 100!! Amazing at their age they’re still travelling the world.
You know why because they're still moving... Any ailments or diseases keep on moving... Don't let these hospitals lay us down with meds... Human guinea pigs!!!!!!!! Science projects! Nature can cure anything! Stop using your body and your body will think you don't need it!
I need to learn to do this! I made a beautiful carrot cake for my husband’s birthday last year and it was amazing until I wrote on it like a 5 year old 😭😭
My great grandmother is actually 106 and she still lives in her house, can walk perfectly fine without help and she still remembers everything, I’m so proud of her ❤
Awwa, congrats to her! She prob got better memory then me, I be forgetting everything. I remember one time I told my friend something and like 3 seconds later, I forget what I said to her. We had to go back and forth on who's turn it was because of my poor memory, but eventually my brain finally remembered it like after 5 minutes so everything was good.
@@bellathegrandma6978 NAH BRO ILL DO SOMETHING IN MY DAY AND TOTALLY FORGET WHAT I DID 2 SECONDS LATER. And I forget what I say legitimately after 2 milliseconds NO JOKE.
My great great grandma was super sharp and smart until she passed but was physically weak. My grandmother was the exact opposite. Was great physically but had dementia.
Oldest person that ive treated while working as a nurse was 104y/o lady. She would start every day by sayin: "yes, im still here..🙄😮💨" 😂. She was a sweet lady with a bunch of kick left. I left that work 3 years ago, so i dont think shes with us anymore, but thats just part of life. And, she was already ready to go. Most people dont realise this, but like in her case, living that long meant that even her son passed away earlier than her. She was very lonely because she felt like she was the last one standing and that she was forgotten here. 100 is definetly a feat, but i dont know if i wanna go there.
@@tashakomaroff2982To be honest not really. People of extremely old age can definitely die extremely suddenly. There is even another comment under the video confirming this.
Dude, my great grandma died right before her 100th birthday party, but we still had the party because we’d rented out the venue and had all the food ready and everyone was already coming. We know my grandma wouldn’t have wanted us to cancel and have all that go to waste.
Yall did the right thing. You know how pissed I would be if I was in heaven and found out my kids and relatives canceled my party JUST BECAUSE I died?! Like, if you dont go, live your best life, and twerk something for me Ima be livid!
My great grandmother was 97 and was unwell in the hospital, she was getting out a few months later so we thought we would have a party to celebrate, sadly she died the morning of the party (we still had the party though)
Marble cake was my Grandma's favorie too and she made it to 100. She always told us she would, then passed peacefully a few months later. Kindest and most intelligent soul you'd ever meet, and it's sad to watch the family fall apart after she left. I didn't know it then, but she was the glue.
At the turn of the last century, many girls were named after flowers. My grandma was named Lilly, her sisters were Rose and Violet. That script was beautiful.
Absolutely. And custard is my favorite. My grandmother would make trifle at Christmas and she would make a large bowl for me to take home. It has been 20 years since she passed. I have not had trifle since. I don't know why I never ask my mother to make it. She passed in December, after a long illness. While my sister was getting the house ready for sale, she found a couple of books that had a note on them, these are for Michael. A great read. The series is Earth's Children by Jean Auel. I found the rest of the series on Kobo Books.
I am also amazed... her piping is better than the best I can do with a pencil/pen. Cursive or print.. even if I take my time, never gonna be as delectable as her cake writing.
My grandma lived independently until last year, when she moved into an assisted living facility at 99. The staff there were so excited to have someone that age; they treated her like a celebrity and helped us plan a big party for her 100th birthday that they all attended. It really underscored just how special our over-100s are!
Your very blessed to have such great care for your centurion. I work in social work and the things I've seen would break your heart Many more years for your gram
I know somebody at my church who is 99, she helps make angel food cakes, she does everything by hand without any electronic utensils, and I think she helps make noodles. I know her because the other person who makes angel food cakes is my grandma and she appreciates the help, she makes 8-10 angel food cakes a week. 😊
my grandma turns 100 in November and still lives at home alone, does aerobics and the occasional belly dancing videos she purchased and goes for a daily swim in her pool. she just recently stopped driving but not because she cant, its because she scared of the other drivers on the road and there craziness but shes definitely the strongest & sweetest person i know.
That’s so awesome! Reminds me of my grandma when she was still here. Make sure grandma keeps up the healthy lifestyle 🙏 Bless her soul and I’m wishing her good health
@@kassiejackson4937 this is her real account she was only on tiktok until someone created a RU-vid account stealing her content so she created this one
okay but the "homegirl won't make it" happened to me once. We sold balloons and decorations for birthday parties and one woman reserved a whole bunch of stuff for her mother's 100th birthday. Well, she never showed up to pick it up and like a month later she came in, apologized and told us that she didn't make it💀 I mean, your concerns aren't invalid I guess
They had a documentary for Betty White called “Betty White: 100 Years Young” and had to change the title to “Betty White: A Celebration” Not to mention all the magazines that had articles printed celebrating her 100th birthday.
I was a live in for an elderly lady. She was completely independent, but living alone. So her family hired me basically to be there in the evenings and overnight when visitors werent coming over. Just in case soemthing happened, I would be there to help. She was 92 yrs old. Sometimes, if she didnt wake up when she usually does I would come listen by her door to see if she was breathing. Sometimes I worried that she would go to bed and just not wake up. Eventually, I got married and moved out. She did die not to long after. Went to sleep and never woke up.
@@sharkcreations7997belated means like.. late. you would use it just like this person did! :) it's because it's probably no longer violet's birthday at the time of writing the comment, therefore it's belated!
Welllllllll... This is not my birthday but my name is also Violette (but written differently 'cause i am french) Soooooooo THANK YOU as well, just because i've never met someone with the same name as mine! 😘
My great grandma lived until 103, born in February 1920, and died in May 2023. Rest in peace. She was an amazing bowler, artist, and such a sweet person ❤
My husbands granny passed 2 week before 103, I always resent that covid and lockdowns stole the last best years of her life, and that she never got to hold our son because if it.
My great grandmas goal is to reach 100 years old, and she’s 97 now, so she’s pretty close and videos like this show that she could actually reach her goal and it just makes me happy for my great grandma❤
People really need to stop being so offended by the "homegirl might not make it" comment. Old people make plenty of jokes about their own death. They care about it way less than younger people. And she didn't say she hoped for it, she was worrying about it. Death can happen at any time. Dark humor is a way to vent and cope with fear.
@@ieatgremlins she wasn’t being funny, she was voicing a concern in a light hearted way. id worry too just from caring, and also for the family as well.
Happy 100th birthday Violet!! And thank you for sharing your gorgeous creation with us. Your handwriting in icing is flawless! Love the purple theme for violet! You should be more positive. Youre very talented and anyone would be honored to share this perfect cake with their friends and relatives. May Gos bless you and violet too!❤🎉
Honey, you did an amazing job with violets cake. We are our very own worst critics, aren’t we. You have a very special gift and talent. And you’re handwriting was spot on as well!! Just beautiful ❤
@@Aardappelpurree i agree!! I’d pay good money for her cakes and would love to support her local business if I were close to her. But, yes, well done. I love seeing others talent shining just like hers!!!❤️🥰💕
@@Nemalirulezi respect your opinion about it but i don't think that really contributes to the original comment! they were talking about the decoration and how people are often harsh on themselves ❤️
@@Aardappelpurreethis is so true!!! there are very talented cake decorators out there who have rly shitty tasting cakes. respectfully. and i just want mine to taste good 😭
The amount of people upset about her being CONCERNED AND WORRIED for her client making it to her 100th bday is ridiculous. It's not like she wished her harm, or she said that she doubt she'll make it or made a bunch of jokes about her not making it. No she was just honest that she's a paranoid person and part of her is legitimately concerned that homegirl won't make it and then on top of that even said that she felt bad and should be more positive. If this was my grandma she was talking about I'd be like "SAME GIRL IM WORRIED TOO" like come on y'all are twisting her words and being extremely sensitive. It's an concern anyone would especially it being their 100th birthday.
@@_.-._.-. that's basically what @KhloeHunter said "Right Intentions, Wrong message" the woman in the video runs a RU-vid channel what did you expect??
I made a cake for a man at my church for his 91st birthday. He was so thrilled, he wrote me a lovely thank you note . It was the last birthday he got to celebrate.
My great great grandma was very healthy. We all told her she would live to be 100. She always told us “no I’m not” The woman died peacefully in her sleep, iirc because I was 3 at the time, 2 weeks before her 100th birthday. Love you Granny Ledford, it was cool visiting you, even if I barely remember it.
my great grandmas name was violet on her 100th birthday she got a 3 tier cake with princesses on it because that what she wanted 😭 she was so sweet! may she rest in peace
