Thoughts On Cookie Run: Tower of Adventures Global Playtest 

This video is getting a bit of attention again, so I want to reiterate that these are my thoughts on the playtest. This video covers a beta version of the game where only six characters were playable. Combat was also not effectively explained during this playtest.

Sad to hear that the game has some similarities to genshin (leveling up wise), and (judging by the gamepley footage shown) it doesnt really enganging. I really hope this game gets introduced with more elements to make the gameplay more interesting instead of a chore. Not expecting much to come out from it lore wise, I just hope the story isn't too bland lmao.

idk i actually like it, i did get to play it and found it really entertaining and cutee, also i like the little sprint thingy bc its more for like dodging certain attacks so maybe it just needs a little more difficulty, the rest i found it fine

I never got around to playing the demo bc I couldn’t get an emulator to work but just by looking at the gameplay the pc moves SO SLOWLY? I would have gotten bored during the tutorial stages lol

Tbh. I kinda liked it. Its just genshin impact.. but with less space needed. Its not that bad in my opinion and the time limit aint really a prob now

The only problem o have with this game is THE FARMING WHY DO I NEED 800 LIGHT CRYSTALS FOR MY PISTACHIO COOKIE TO GET TO LV 60 😭😭😭😭

this game feels like if you put brawl stars characters, you know? no jumping? or sprinting? in super mario 3d world levels, it just doesnt work and i feel like they would've benefited from just making it a brawl stars clone focused on pvp isntead of this weird puzzle platformer thing that doesn't lend itself to genshin styled progession and gacha mechanics.

When I saw the trailer the first thing I shouted was Honkai Star Rail

I've seen enough footage of this game and The Darkest Night (the new VR one) for me to warrant forming my own opinion on them, and so far... neither of them really struck a cord in me. While yes, I do applaud the devs for using this as an opportunity to dip the franchise into other gameplay styles, at the same time, it almost seems like the minds behind it never really put into the consideration what makes Cookie Run stand out. You know, this little thing every IP has called an "identity". The best example I could give is the aforementioned "Hoyoverse-inspired" building system ToA is going for, as well as the uncanny anime-esque design of the cookies (e.g. Cream Soda, that pepper guy I forgot the name of) that (in my opinion) makes use of like, 10% of the "cookieness" in CR's design. I get it; the mobile/gacha game market is a competitive place and I guess these are one of the ways a game could reel in more players, but at the same time, there's nothing wrong with having a bit of variety or bringing something new to the table, no? I don't know, the game industry is not my forte as I'm only a student for all I care. On top of this, we can't also forget ToA's style of gameplay (so far at least), which I can only describe with the word "eh...". It's alright I mean, but not enough to make me wanna play it. The story doesn't really impress me in either, but who knows? This is definitely an attempt from the higher-ups to reel in the greater gacha crowd, and I don't think it's right for me to go in-depth when the game hasn't even come out yet. So far? I'd probably give this demo 6 and a half lilies out of ten at best. Not too bad, but not too great either. All I'm looking forward to is for the devs to at least flavorblast the game a bit because this gives off the "kind of game someone's little cousin would play because they're too young and dumb to be interested in Genshin or HSR" type of vibe. And please, I'm not a huge a fan of the time limit thing and would love to see more variety in character skills and maps.

She's right. Me looking at the other Cookierun games, they looked lazy and uninspired, untalented to me. The animations of those games were lazy. After looking at those games a little, ToA really concerned me on it being another lazy copy cat cash grab.
