"It feels more authentic, even though I never played a real piano..." Bruh...

I mean I never owned one or lived next door to the piano shack. To summarize, the S1 feels like switches, the Kawai is bouncy, and the D1 felt more shallow on the key travel than the Kawai. I like the Kawai best.

Great. Just the video I was looking for. Im trying to decide between the es 110 and the Korg D1.

I like the es110 a bit more. I move my keyboards a lot, so the less weight, the better for me. It's also a bonus that I like the action better, too. I also find that I play piano more often when the keyboard has built in speakers. It's more immediate. On the other hand, the D1 is slightly slimmer in depth and height. Those little dimension differences could mean a lot if you're stacking keyboards on multiple tiers. The sounds are good on both. I might prefer the Kawai, but I suspect the D1 is more powerful under the hood. Sometimes I get weird latency problems with the es110, as if running out of polyphony, but it's barely noticeable. I sure hope Korg has improved the packaging of the D1. It's been mentioned before in difference places, but the D1 is too heavy for its own box and styrofoam. When I sold the D1, I shipped it in the es110's box.

@@troublesomecorsair Thanks for the in depth review of the action and soundquality. Im buing the piano online due to the Covid situation. So good to find reviews online. Your videos are the first that really makes the es 110 sound really good. In other videos it sometimes comes across as a bit to bright for my taste. Must be the way you capture the sound and upload it to youtube I guess. I also prefere a lighter keyboard over a heavier one witch speaks for the es 110. Again thx for a great video. :)

@troublesomecorsair 2 года назад
ES110 all the waaaaaaay unless the dimensions of the D1 would be an advantage to you if you're using a multi-tier keyboard rig. If I remember correctly, the D1 is slimmer but in particular, shorter in height. The built-in speakers of the ES110 gives you an immediacy I find refreshing from walking around in circles flicking on power buttons for external speakers, and sometimes headphones can be fatiguing.

Great effort at trying to describe the feel of the action! I am looking for something around 20 lbs, it could be a controller only, or have built in sounds, and it could be 68/73/76 keys instead of 88 in order to save some weight and space. Thanks for covering a number of rigs that I am interested in. I do have a Casio pX560 (I think that's the correct model) but really dislike the built-in piano sounds (and I'm not fond of any of the other sounds either for that matter.) It weighs around 25-28 lbs and it's just too heavy for me (yeah, I'm old :-))

Classical player here.. We owned a Piano when I was a kid living with my parents.. The grand parents also had one so for good 15 to 20 years I was around acoustic pianos but when I had my own family and moved to our house I transitioned to DPs (Digital Pianos) for space reasons and before we made a purchase, I tried a lot and for my fingers, only the RH3 of Korgs made the cut. I tried Yamahas, Rolands and Casios just the ones within our budget around $600 and went with a Korg.

Excellent! I still play the old Korg Concert C-303 and I'm starting to think that maybe trying to find the best action in the most lightweight DP isn't strictly the way to go. Depending on the heavy-handedness of one's playing, there might be an advantage in actually having a heavier DP, 30lbs or over. I'm also finding that I am very much used to the glossy slippery tops of DP keys. I do not enjoy playing on those "textured" keys that are on a lot of new DP products now.
@Zushikikato
@Zushikikato 3 года назад
@@troublesomecorsair Same here with the textured keys.. I regularly use a Roland RD 700NX which has that textured feel and is leagues above my Korg SP250 but I still like the action and finish of the Korg SP250. Well of course it's a different story when it comes to the things it can do but if I will be upgrading (if the budget will allow me) I'll go for either the D1, Grandstage or Kronos.. Those 3 are my pick..

@@abrahamsg8318 I think a keyboard to sound like an orchestra requires many distinct timbres or layers. That would mean a keyboard workstation. The Ka Pro orchestra sounds were very famous a few years back for the Korg Kronos

Are you saying that the whole the program I would love to have that keyboard for working busking in here in DC But I would consider it a luxury with that price range and you're saying that it has some bugs in it that one is a post that has the best sound around Oh yes and by the way I bought a drum throne you can swivel around 365°
@troublesomecorsair
@troublesomecorsair 5 лет назад
I find there is truly no substitute for 88 keys, at least for me. A piano with less octaves confuses me. Because the control panel is to the left of the keys, I find the Dexibell S1 does not save enough space to be worth the effort. I've taken my Kawai out for multiple gigs, and it has (imo) superior action to the Korg D1. Also more portable than the D1. But yes, the S1 is a nifty grab-and-go keyboard. I don't think the VIVO brain has any bugs. It's that I found the interface a bit clumsy to use. I couldn't save my edits to the existing sounds but I also didn't read the manual. It probably comes down to a simple press-and-hold button function or that the stock programs cannot be overwritten. In any case, whichever instrument inspires your music is the one to keep.

Which one makes a fine, portable, stage midi-controller?
@troublesomecorsair
@troublesomecorsair 3 года назад
They all do. They're all plenty lightweight but sometimes when bringing a rig with more than one keyboard to the stage, height is an important factor, too. It also depends on whether you need USB-Midi. You might also go with the one that allows you to easily switch Midi channels, or have the ability to split and layer. Not all of these boards have that capability. I find the Kawai's line outputs to be on the quiet side, but if used as a controller without the need for any fancy midi stuff, it's great and I've gigged with it many times.

Hi good video . Help me please about you Yamaha P 515 or Dexibell p7?
@troublesomecorsair
@troublesomecorsair 3 года назад
Hello! I would go for the Yamaha. The Dexibell P7 uses the Fater TP-100 LR for a keybed which is also found in the Crumar Seven. I despise that action. However, companies like Nord claim that they tweak the Fatar action they put in their keyboards, so I don't know if the TP-100 LR is going to feel the same as the Crumar Seven. To me, the TP-100 LR is slow and heavy. It simply takes too much effort to press down. The Dexibell Vivo-S7 uses the TP-40 which I have played briefly and feels significantly better. I currently play a StudioLogic SL88 Grand which also uses the TP-40. I would stick with the Kawai ES110 forever but I wanted to experiment with Aftertouch. In terms of weight, feel and price, I still say the Kawai ES110 is the winner by far. I prioritize action above all else in this post, but that's just me being picky. There are plenty of reviews and forum posts that rant and rave about the TP-100 LR in the Crumar Seven. I personally cannot get along with it but if the Dexibell offers other features that are more important to you (sound, interface, connectivity, midi spec, dimensions, price) then don't let me steer you away from a keyboard that very well could make you the happiest pianist on the planet. So yeah, even though I have never played a Yamaha keyboard, I would still chose it over the Dexibell. My style of playing piano lends itself more to actions with a light touch, which is why I like the Kawai so much. Cheers!

thanks for this review now i can only decide which of it d1 or 110, but there is this Roland RD-88 which has no polyphony on their new so called new Supernatural engine but I have a Roland FA-06 which has only 128 polyphony and also have SN engine. But what will it be,since i'm looking for and 88 for a small room , practice or studio use.
@troublesomecorsair
@troublesomecorsair 4 года назад
The Roland RD-88 looks excellent. Fantastic weight with the built-in speakers. I haven't tried any of the newer Roland boards but I hear good things about the Roland PHA action. My Kawai ES110 is still going strong. Since I stack keyboards, Height is an important factor to consider. Even though the shallowness in Depth is appealing, the RD-88 is 6.3" which is significant compared to the ES110's 5.75"

@troublesomecorsair 3 года назад
@@ferdearmas8732 That's a tough call. If I remember correctly, they're almost the same. ES110 has more bounce on the key return and takes slightly less force to push the key down. @@ferdearmas8732 I think it's because I like the key travel range more on the Kawai. I may be wrong but the travel on the D1 felt more shallow. I would be very happy with either one. I also wanted a Kawai because I already have the Korg Kronos 61 and Korg Concert 303, and I like built-in speakers (which is very attractive on the Arp 2600 reissue). I don't have a Kronos 88 or D1 anymore so I can't accurately say which is better.
