Thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators marched in central London on Saturday, calling for an end to Israel's military action in the Gaza Strip, which was triggered by last weekend's rampage in Israel by the Hamas militant group.

Protesters, many of them waving Palestinian flags and signs reading 'Free Palestine', gathered close to Oxford Circus from where they planned to head to Downing Street. Chants were aimed at the governments of Britain and the United States for supporting Israel.
Earlier on Saturday, the headquarters of the BBC, located close the start of the march, was daubed in red paint. Pro-Palestinian protests were planned in other cities around the world on Saturday

There's a big difference between horrific Hamas brutality and the unending suffering of Palestinians suffering consequences just as there is a huge difference between antisemitism and the criticism of Israeli government politics that nobody is allowed to express without being accused of antisemitism. My heart goes out to the terrible suffering of on both sides.

Ah, the old both sides. You do know that Israel funded and thus were instrumental in the creation of Hamas so its extremism (born of desperation and fury and we know why) could be used as a 'reason' not to ever negotiate a peace and continue ethnic cleansing and apartheid? Also, people in Gaza ELECTED Hamas, and Hamas is made up of Palestinian people. Note how you say the "brutality" of Hamas but it's just "criticism" of Israel. I'll fix it for you: the brutality of Israel and the provoked but statistically and ACTUALLY VASTLY SMALLER brutal response of Hamas.

I have never been in any rallies before. I always got the feeling that more than fighting for the cause, we may end up getting crushed in a stampede. Stampedes tended to be common where I lived. Stampedes in temples, stampedes due to bulls running berserk in markets. Amid such news of stampedes, I cud never look for permission to join one. I didnt even know if we ever saw protests going on. It was majorly religious rallies or festivals that saw massive crowds. Sorry I cannot do much.

If I or any other guy who does for their family would be extremely worried or rather attempt to evacuate family members.
