Thousands march in New York City Veterans Day Parade

New York City honored those who served their country with the annual Veterans Day Parade Sunday.
Thousands of marchers from more than 300 units in the Armed Forces took part.
Marching bands played patriotic songs and onlookers waved American flags as the parade with its marchers and floats made its way up Fifth Avenue.

I like how Americans show their love and support for their troops, I was on a course in the U.S 🇺🇸 10 years ago and as I was getting breakfast 🥞🍳 at the hotel 🏨, a father and son came up to me and said “Thank you for your service” - it almost brought a tear to my eye as no one in my country (New Zealand 🇳🇿) ever says that to us (NZ Army) out loud. Kiwis probably silently show their appreciation, but it would be nice to hear those words now and again

Well, in the country i was raised (Guatemala) some people hate the Army because there where a military conflict that last almost 40 years and where thousands of deaths and missing people, and lots of influential people right here are constantly pointing the Army as serial killers and savages, i just want that one day we could all celebrate our Army as north americans do...

Barbara H you have my mother in law’s name and you sound just like her speaking too. He husband was a veteran her grandson is a younger Marine than myself by 20 years and I’m a Marine. I can tell you from experience we fight for every crumb that we get from the VA .!! I’ve been fighting for my disability for 26 years now and still haven’t received what I rate. I went in straight from high school (it was a terrible time but a good time) and I have to say it's the best way if you join later you won't do as well as the 18yr olds who are in their prime.

When I drive by a cemetery in London, Ontario, Canada and see the rows of identical stones marking the resting places of Canadian veterans, I say a silent Thank You to all military personnel. In Canada, we hold Remembrance Day on November 11. There are parades, speeches, a moment's silence, etc. But, next day, everyone goes back to their lives and the sacrifice of all these men and women is forgotten by most. We owe it to all military personnel in Canada, the United States, Britain, etc. (current and retired, living or dead) to say thanks each and every day. It is the least we can do!

Henry B No, it's just another perspective. What makes a country "great", is based heavily around how to define "greatness". If you define greatness by military and raw international power - then yes, america is great. But if you determine greatness as the best place to live with the most oppurtunities for everyone - America would not be great. Places like Canada, Finland, and New Zealand would be greater. Americs has done great things, and has great people - but as a general country itself, it is no longer the greatest in my eyes and to those of the world. And to not consider America great, is not disrespectful - it's just being realistic.

I respect the soldiers ;going to far flung places to fight wars. But I don't respect the American governments for sending them there

They antied up what are you going to do to support our heros? Amend affordable housing regulations, Vets and retirees should take priority over c current regulations that state if a child was born here, they can take the space a veteran or retiree deser v ed
