Chicago Police Superintendent Snelling was forced to arrest 60 violent anti-Israel protesters outside the DNC convention when their illegal march became violent. Snelling stated, "We were not the initiators of violence, but we responded to it." The anti-Israel agitators burned flags and clashed with cops after the agitators refused to leave. The police tried to avoid the clash but the agitators continued to ASSAULT the officers. Snelling pointed out the counter pro-Israel demonstrators as peaceful and cooperative, who vacated the area without incident after they were asked to leave. Besides the violence of the anti-Israel agitators, Snelling was appalled by the "disgusting" hateful, "vicious, nasty, sexually explicit" comments directed at the female officers. Snelling was proud of these policewomen for "keeping their cool" inspite of such revolting provocation by the anti-Israel mob. Snelling stated that all groups "legally" exercising their FIRST AMENDMENT rights are treated equally until "they cross the line" by engaging in violence to destroy the city.

Peaceful protest is what it means to be in America. Violence is not.

Two things can be true at once. What's happening in Gaza is a tragedy. This is true. The anti-blackness of Palestinians and the Arab Community is real. This is also true. It's great that the protesters are peaceful, and hopefully they will remain that way, setting a good example for democracy. Hopefully they will also accept that other Americans have their own priorities and will vote based on those issues, not anything having to do with Israel or Gaza.
