Haitian descendants in DR are NOT Dominican, they are Haitian who illegally live in DR

Haitians born outside of Haiti are Haitians, please stop misleading people. The DR is not the only country in the world that does that. The only thing the DR does is to help millions of Haitians make a living weather people like it or not.

I feel bad for the Dominican Republic having Haiti as their neighbor.

They are not in limbo they are forgotten by their haitian goverment, they are haitian according to article 11 of haiti constitutions declares anyone born of haitian father abroad is haitian by law, you see these haitians never had the Dominican citizenship even if they were born in DR doesnt grant automatic citizenship. If a Dominican couple living in haiti and they both have a kid in haiti the kid will never be haitian according to their constitution, haiti has the same citizenship laws that DR has😉

They are not in Limbo, this is just misinformation, you guys need to do better research. The DR, like other countries, do not give citizenship to people born from illegal parents, in order to be Dominican, one of their parents has to be Dominican or be a legal resident. Also, according to the Haitian constitution, any person born from a Haitian citizen is Haitian. They have their culture, and their country, which is Haiti.

Take them to your rich, big countries.

Mr. Andres, I know you were born there. but you need to understand that the law was created to protect the Dominican sovereignty and legal control of who enters the country. Its sad, but the law is a "population control type of law". If they don't do that, the whole country of Haiti would literally move to Dominican Republic completely. So you need to look at both sizes of the coin. I think France, Canada and USA must step up and help Haiti by offering them free emergency visa to all these people. About 2-3 millions of Haitians already live in the DR.

Most people in the DR want to be perceived as white; unfortunately, Haiti is too close for comfort because the Haitians, with their black uniformity, reminded them of their DNA. Thus fueling their hatred, they fear that Haitians will darken their country. Years ago, when Haiti was exporting coffee and other stuff, the Haitian economy was good, and the DR economy took a plunge because of cooperative business. There were lots of Dominicans working in Haiti. Even some Dominican women involved in the old trade were treated exceptionally well in Haiti. Now, things are reversed. Haitians are under gangs and political oppression. They look to their neighbor for help, and the DR, instead of helping, is involved in practice violating their human rights. Shame on the DR.
