I get a postal money order. Those can't be turned down. I used to have the rent set up to be on auto-pay but, you can be scammed there too because your banking info can be compromised.
They do that because most tennants don't fight it, because they don't care or do not understand their rights enough to stand up and stop the judge from giving that rubber stamp
They can't afford an attorney to fight it and it is hard to get a pro bono attorney because there are hundreds of people competing for the same thing. Unless they have an attorney, the system chews them up and spits them out. @@TheHiredGun187
The other side of the coin are judges who give non paying tenants endless extensions costing landlords months of lost rents. That’s why you have some resorting to instant evictions if even one day late. Burned too many times being nice.
Which is included in the eventual judgement against the renter if, in fact, anything is due, in addition to attorneys' fees, expenses, court costs, and anything else the landlord's attorney decides to throw in, legitimate or not. @@user-xk4vt9ye8j
It's a business like all others, and some involved lack ethics. That's why I think this discourse about renting vs buying is an endoctrination campaign. Don't listen. Buy. You always need shelter. Buy your own, even if it's a 400 sf mobile home sitting on .15 acres. Be sure to buy the lot as well. Right now in Florida, some people are tasked with MOVING their mobile home because the park owner wants to sell and repurpose the land. So buy your little lot, and put your home, trailer, tent or shack on it and feel that little bit of security that "ownership" provides.
these heartless scumbags taking advantage of the housing crisis, hard working people like me are struggling to pay rent, and these big companies take advantage of it😠
I was sued before my rent was due. And now I'm suing the attorney for what he did. It's a joke what attorney get away with, and a lot of people don't understand the law. That's how they do.
You should write to board of law? or whatever the attorney you're suing is from, about what he did. Heard they're (lawyers) scared of that. Had a black friend who was screwed over by a female asian lawyer. She took his money for representation, and didn't do anything. Refuses to give his money back. So he wrote to the bar/board of whatever. He promptly got his money back.
I did and I filed a lawsuit for the attorney filing a Frivolous eviction against me. These attorneys like this guy is the reason the system is broken. But I will fight all the way. I wasn't even behind on any rent nor did I violate any policies from my lease. Just that the manager didn't like me. And I have the proof of it. But the loops the system makes you go through is a joke.
They are doing this everywhere. They are taking in illegals and getting paid top dollar. This is all by design. People need to vote! We need to stop this invasion.
One of my favorite movies is called "The Nighwalker." It' about a woman (Barbara Stanwyck) who is married to a rich blind man who is killed in an explosion. Turns out he was murdered and the killer tries to drive her crazy to steal the fortune. The tie-in to this little chat? The lawyer did it!! Makes me snicker every time!!
Free to low cost legal assistance from the older attorney in the video & the other pro bono lawyer plus contacting the press to inform current or future renters. I'm certain that a class action lawsuit is next or pending. Idk what you saw.
@@johndear1592 You can't have a class action lawsuit without a class level defendant. Who are you going to name when you sue? You need to sue them all together and you cannot if they did not commit the crime together.
People don't know that when property management send debts to the attorney, any money paid goes directly to legal fees first, not debts owed. It's super predatory & should be illegal. "I've never seen anything like this." Yet it's common practice.
Economics, Demographics, Politicians have all contributed . With every action their must be a reaction. No solution will come without Sacrifices by Everyone concerned.
How they gonna sue until you establish residency again they evicted you(your address). And you know the struggle once you get a eviction to get another place because of there scam.. unlawful and wrongful evictions should be 👀n2 and overturned. Peoples lives y'all playing wit our here...
Yup. They built a system to benefit the rich and powerful elites. It's a cruel trick, ppl think the American legal system is just and fair, but it's setup to work for the rich and crush everyone else
Instead of sitting around, twiddling your thumbs, waiting for luck to land on your lap, how about you take charge of your own life and come up with a concrete plan to make a better future for yourself? Nah, can't ask you to do anything beyond just existing and getting high.
After 44 years of saving and being frugal and paying off my mortgage, I finally have enough funds available to purchase a rental property, which is something I always wanted to do. But alas I'm not going there because the laws here are so skewed in favor of tenants and the government recently enacted covid policies where tenants can stop paying rent and not be evicted and this is just too risky for me. So, in short, small investors like me are not going to get into the rental business leaving only big companies owning rentals so I view the lack of affordable housing to be not my problem.
Agree. You will see more of this bcse they are helping these big property owners take over. Even the non-profits who make tenants think they are working on their behalf by going after these mom and pop owners. Bcse these big companies are inflexible. They don't care abt your sob story. And the criteria to rent from them is usually higher too.
Landlords existing is the whole reason everybody can't afford to just "own" to begin with. A house should be an investment in YOUR family, not a commitment to rob somebody elses. Houses as commodities and investments instead of HOMES is what caused this whole mess.
I agree, my cousin has worked hard all his life and when COVID hit a lot of his tenants just quit paying as soon as the Biden administration banned evictions as an emergency order. He had three tenants making good money during the pandemic two of them had their pay supplements each check, all the stimulus money, and were able to work while most people had their livelihood stripped away by the government when they were shut down. All three tenants bought brand new vehicles yet paid no rent for well over a year and then fought eviction in court and the cases were delayed for 4 to 8 months the first time and two were at the final stage of eviction just to get the properties back. He even agrees to forget about the rent just to end the losses he had paying mortgages on properties where the tenants were living for free just to have the government extend the eviction moratorium for 6 more months the day before his hearings for eviction. He had to take on a second job and so did his wife just to make payments to the bank . In the end he lost over $65,000 dollars in rent while his tenants bought nice things and traveled after the lockdowns ended. No one ever compensated the landlords for all their losses and that drove many small landlords out of the market even though they did everything they could legally and morally to help their tenants. That is the reason why rents shot up because many people like him were bankrupted or had to sell the properties at a loss just to save their families from losing their own homes when they were the ones screwed by the system. Now the large landlords own the properties with loans at ridiculously low interest because of the volumn of properties they own.
If that they are doing is illegal under state law, the practices should have been permanently stopped at the first case. This is why people are so cynical about the legal system--it never works for the citizens, even when the law is on their side.
Do your research.they want top dollar, knowing people can’t pay, you have to leave. In ny they are paying landlords up to $6000 a month to house illegals! FACTS! It’s replacement time! FACTS! @@onceagain6184
I own rental property, large complex 50,000sqft, 28 units been in the family name since 1979, we have never ask a renter to send a rental payment to a lawyer. We also have our own rent control we never raise rent more then 15% over 3 years. In this video with the legal fees it is like a 75% rent increase.
Very My great your tenants are very respectful of your property knowing how much you care and that you are a good person. It's hard to find a rental that's in good condition with a landlord that cares. They are out there such as yourself Just want to say thank you from anyone that rents.
@traybernNah bruv that is not worth $800. I own two houses that I rent out, and yeah I can charge what I want but choose not to price gouge. I see you making the rounds making your nasty comments to people you perceive as weak. Well guess what the only one weak is you.
@traybern if the only way to get water was $20 for a tiny bottle, people would buy because they have to, but it still doesn't mean water would be WORTH that. A scam is a scam.
The landlord owns the property and is well within their rights to charge as much as they believe they can get for the use of their personal property. Rental properties are a for-profit enterprise so why would a landlord rent a property for $XXX when they could get $XXXX? If the situation were reversed would the renter, now landlord, rent the property for the lower amount?
I was facing eviction in 2023 even though I was up to date on the rent. I could not find a lawyer to help me explore my options. I was not able to get the security level raised so I could secure a new apartment. I was not aware that this was such a widespread issue. There are more details that I would love to discuss with a lawyer that handles renter's rights.
This is by design, it’s happening everywhere. We are being pushed out for illegals! It’s a no brainer. In nyc they are using e-bikes fires to push out people! Hundreds of fires in section 8 buildings. After they fix the building illegals are moving in!
If this veteran snapped an harmed the Attorney for the apartment complex , the owners of the apartment complex an the manager. I’d fully understand why an honestly agree with him! These greedy slave rental places are the problem
.......yeahhhhh...... there is a lot of clueless idiots out there that will agree with you.... people who have to shower after dropping a duece because they could never figure out how to wipe their axzzes......
This happened to me September 2019 I was renting a low income apartment my rent went from 400$ to 800$ once I got a new job now I knew this would happen but they didn’t even give me 30 day’s notice they only gave me 20min notice I moved out and they sued me for 4000$ and put an eviction on my record I can’t get anyone to rent to me even though I have good credit and a good paying job they were doing all the tenants like that people where moving out like crazy I moved in November they sued me in January I always wondered how they could get away with that it just makes no sense to me🤷🏾♀️
I rented decades ago and luckily the city I lived in would not let the landlord or their attorneys charge more than $150 in fees and fines. They even threatened to drop any eviction cases where lawyers and landlords tried to charge more.
I feel sorry for the man. He should not be subjected to feeling suicidal over rent. This is inhumane and predatory. I hope his case is settled and he secures housing. May all these people get help! This is unacceptable. Housing is a human right not a casino business.
@@sneksteppy most people are a paycheck away from poverty and homelessness. Perhaps you don’t comprehend information very well. These tenants admitted to falling behind but got caught up as they were told by sending the money to an attorney who did not apply the money towards the rent. Yes they fell behind but they were attempting to catch up. If they have or had plans to live rent free they should be evicted. Let’s not be silly sir.
@@sneksteppy people could build our own shelters just like our ancestors did if there weren't so many rules in place to keep us from being self sufficient. Our ancestors built mud, sand and wood huts that could last hundreds of years and put todays cardboard housing to shame. We can still do that for a fraction of the building cost of modern homes. We don't NEED your precious builders and developers. Sustainable adobe homes are what should be built and we could house everybody for dirt cheap for hundreds of years. It's your precious builders and developers that don't want alternatives to their overpriced, low value cardboard housing.
I am in ND and have learned that you can be evicted after 12 days late rent, the landlord says. I was surprised when I learned that can even happen during the winter when the temperature is as low as 40-50 degrees below zero. If landlords have to fix anything that breaks because it is old or just worn out, tenants are charged and rent is elevated sometimes as much as $500 more. The main reason that we think the economy is so bad is mainly due to things you must have such as housing, food, utilities, especially cable and internet services. There are now too many Americans sucking money out of others. Shame, shame, shame. America is having a greed problem, some trying to grab every penny they can get their hands on.
S.C. too it's ashamed cause they only used that law when our lease was about over. I got evicted the month I owed for. The month wasn't even over yet.. and had to be out before that same month ended 7 days later.. Never went into any months owing any rent.. never seen such a swift filing and eviction for the rent denied for that month..
When Lawyers commit Fraudulent Acts like this they should be Dis-Bared , but the way Laws are set up it is Very, Very hard to get a Judge or Court to go against a Lawyer .
Remember that lawyer running around the tree cuz he screwed his client Thats when the words going postal starting appearing in news papers as common news. Lawyers make sad names for themselves when they try to take advantage of citizens for the sake of greed. History seems to repeat itself. Just look at the Russians they think it's still wwll
The same thing is happening in Colorado! There is a war targeting working class renters who pay their rents on time and mind their business. If you live in a "desirable" neighborhood where the rents were historically affordable, you are going to find yourself booted out because greedy corporations are comming in, buying up properties and doubling rents to cater to a certain demographic. This is exactly what I am experiencing. There are hardly any rights for renters.
Class action suit and sue for pain and suffering that’s stressful! They also should get the evictions off their lease! If you don’t have the money get a probono lawyer asap!
Attorneys are arrogant. Some landlords and managers are bullies. Local legal aid is not always helpful. I basically had to research the law and stand up for my rights because the stress of dealing with these clowns was life threatening. I went on offense and said I would see them all in court. Attitudes changed because I could pull out the written laws.
Must be a lawyer originally from California. $800 turned into $3,000+ is shady as all heck for filing evictions, especially when the “attorney’s firm” collects legal fees before giving the client their due.
How can this be legal? It cannot be legal. Where tf is the state? Where is the State AG? The landlord, the owner and the attorneys need to be brought up on criminal charges for fraud. The attorneys should be disbarred. And the state officials need to be voted out of office if they aren't going to do anything about this. This would be a good issue to campaign on for a politician who actually cares about the people.
This is why everyone needs to come out and vote this election. People are being replaced by illegals. Blks are getting hit the hardest! It’s going to get a lot worse.
Over here in Kansas City, Johnson County, KS has the same racket going on in the small claims Court too. Court claims its in the best interests of all parties (and the Court) if parties can settle; and shuffles people being sued off to side rooms to be strong-armed by shady attorneys into paying fees and debts that they probably wouldn't have to if they had their own representation and actually fought the suits. This quasi-legal process has been going on in Missouri and Kansas since at least the 1980s, and only now gets attention because its starting to affect more sympathetic and affluent people. When your Judge and the plaintiff's attorneys are members of the same bar, social clubs, circles, and are friends in and out of the Courtroom, how truly just and uncorrupt is the Civil system. Judges do economically benefit under the system.
Just disgusting the behavior to take advantage of renters who are not familiar with the Law nor can afford legal representation - such Fleecing of the middle class - shame on the Landlords and their Lawyers - all these renters should be reimbursed - there should be a class action lawsuit and one top legal team should take these peoples cases Pro Bono
......yeahhhhh, right.......Just disgusting the behavior to take advantage of attorneys with no interest in your case by demanding that they should handle your case for free?.....
They wonder why someone at their front door with intentions to hurt them or their family ,it because of this ignorance against the consumer ,so if your harmed ,as they say fair exchange is know robbery, you reap what you sow , to hurt others for greed
It's situations like these that cause normal, good people, to get pushed over the edge. It really surprises me that someone didn't end up at the doorstep of that law firm for a violent resolution.
I'm glad that someone's case is getting coverage. When I went through a wrongful evictions case, nearly 2 years ago, I couldn't get any media outlets to cover it because I wasn't disabled or elderly and I don't have kids. They didn't care that I'm a military veteran. 🤷🏾♀️ Mind you, I never missed a payment. They dragged their feet, until the judge finally threw out the case. That's Connecticut for you.
In Florida, when an eviction suit is filed, the tenant is required to pay the rent in cash directly to the court, along with court costs, There's no question whether the rent is paid or not.
Similar happened to many in Central WI including myself. There is ZERO accountability or anyone to straighten this mess out for anyone's family and it's very very sad. Counties allowing such huge rental management companies take advantage and manipulate people in vulnerable situations is straight up inhumane. People having to sign confusing documents under duress without anyone to help explain or complete the processes. I'm absolutely disgusted by this collective lack of accountability for causing so much unnecessary stress, hardships ect on people in communities.
How is this lawful to treat veterans this way when they have literally put their lives on the line. Stories like this leaves me in tears. A universal law should be pass that prevent veterans from being eviction--I don't give a darn what it cost the taxpayers.
The problem is no attorney will represent tenants in Missouri. I've called all. Missouri is a landlord friendly state which explains why it's so popular among investors. You can't withhold rent for repairs. Companies won't fix HVAC or appliances that don't belong to you. Investors have added extra "fees" to up the rent amount above advertised amount. Rental payment portals often times only have couple active days in which to pay rent. Management companies charge for background and credit checks and then don't do the checks. Additional way to get extra money. Management doesn't fix anything and breaks their own agreement. All the while tenants have signed a legally binding lease that you need an attorney and extra money to fight against a corporation that has big time attorneys on retainer. Good luck folks.... that's just how it is. But the good news is if you're able to go against your conscience and know the laws inside out you can always be a squatter. Guess I'm stuck paying for service I'll never get.
This law firm needs to be stripped of their license. This is what citizens are talking about when some of these law firms and attorneys for landlords abuse their power over everyday people trying to live a quality life.
It isn't bad enough that many people are struggling to find a place to live they can afford, now we find tenants are being victimized by crooked professionals. I
The management company owns more then 50 properties across six states. Every one I looked at had a least one person complain that the management stole from them.
I've watched eviction hearings on RU-vid very similar to these stories! I saw a girl who lived in Texas get evicted even though she paid her rent. She paid through the portal, but the portal didn't show any payments. She showed her bank statements, and the payments came out of her account. She didn't have a lawyer, but the apartment complex did. The lawyer spouted off a bunch of legal jargon, and the judge ruled in his favor. She and her 3 kids were evicted. This is disgusting and a horrible way to treat people!
I helped an acquaintance once who had been renting to own a very humble house. The owner died and someone else bought it and demanded he show proof he had been paying for 25 years. I was legit worried for him because he didn’t know how to read and counted on me to explain the letter. He later shows me a bag of money order receipts he had kept for the two plus decades and the original hand written rent to own document. Took a long time to copy all the receipts but it worked out for him.
.....tax write-off and Law Office PR tool.....the pro bono lawyers are truly the ones to resort to threat, intimidation, and dragging the procedures hoping the other side will give in.....
Law firm Pappas Hayden Westberg & Jackson PC have done everything in this story. They hope for a default judgement and if you show up they will not work with you. The lawyer claims he's not in a position to negotiate. Then the amount triples! Judge is friends with the lawyers and is not for it's citizens. This is in Saint Louis.
