Thanks man! When I post these videos I try to put info in that I wish I saw in other videos that are out there - I try to not just copy what I've seen other folks do...but add the bits that I wish I saw that ended up being helpful to me. Glad they were to you too. Thanks for stopping by!

I took mine off because I went 9.5 inch and had to extend everything. It’s easier to get to the wiring with it off

like you say coming from a touring bike the bars do feel weird. also have the xl clear view on order hoping to turn this thing into a mini road glide.

with the LePera seat now (which sits me down a little and back) the stock windscreen seems to work better than the Clearview XL I have. With the XL it's great at lower speeds but at highway speeds I get hammered pretty good. I'd like to try a L to see how that goes - just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Thanks for the vid. I know that there are a lot of info out there on these risers, but I figure I'd ask, since you have a 23, like me. Are all the cables the original lines? I heard the brake line is uncomfortably snug with this set-up. Is this true? Based on your video it doesn't look like, it, but now that it's been on there for a few weeks, is that till the case? All other cables have a slight slack? Is that one tight one still snug? Sorry for my ignorance, but can you elaborate on how the OEM bushings come out? I hope arms are healing well. Be safe. Thank you.

Everything cable wise is stock...in fact, I've heard the same thing as you with regards to folks having to do some re-bending of the brake line and such but everything just lined right up for me. There's a section in video where I talk about that...the brake line specifically. I've had it on several weeks now and have put 400+ miles on this setup - it's awesome. On the OEM bushings you just yank them out of there. In the beginning of the video I show them in my hand and you can see the rubber bushing piece is actually 2 pieces (and total garbage)...so it's actually really easy to get them out of there. When you hold the Gooden Tights compared to the stock bushings you'll understand what I'm talking about. The Gooden Tights are a snug fit and as I call out in the video the bottom one does stick out a bit but others that have done this same setup have corroborated that they have the same experience.

Man I can’t decide if I should go with 6.5 or taller. If we were to put mid bend bars with 6.5 risers would you then need to extend the wires and cables? I would think so yeah?

I've since added the Thrasin' Road Glide 2" pull back plate which also adds 2" to the rise as well. So, I've got a total of 8.5" rise and 2 additional inches of pullback. It's much better. That said, once you go higher than 6.5" you have to do extension cables which is a bit of a PITA and the reason I guess that most people start at 6.5" and end up eventually going higher.

Could you just use the OEM digital gauge/top clamp or did you have to use the thrashin supply?
@MotoATX
@MotoATX Месяц назад
You have to use theirs if you use their risers.

What type and size of socket (or other tool) did you use to tighten the four top bolts that came with the kit? Thank you!
@MotoATX
@MotoATX 4 месяца назад
I just used a metric socket that fit and was very careful with it to make sure I didn't strip it out.

Out of interest, how tall are you?? I'm 6.2 and thinking about the same, so wondering if I should go bigger than 6.5", I have the same bike as you! haha
@MotoATX
@MotoATX 3 месяца назад
I'm 6' tall. Currently I'm using a LaPera Tailwhip seat and I bumped my risers up another 2" using the Thrashin' Road Glide pull back plate which gives you an additional 2" rise and 2" pullback. So currently I'm at around 8.5" rise and 2" additional pull back from what the Thrasin 6.5" already pull back. I think you'll find - as do most - that 6.5" is definitely better than stock but most folks want higher...buy once, cry once...just get the cable extensions and go higher. I've also got a set of the 1" Thrasin riser extensions that I can add in to the bottom of the 6.5" risers to get an additional inch. I'll probably install them at some point but it's a huge PITA to take all that apart again just to do that...so I'll wait until I'm already in there for something else.

Did you use stock bolts for the risers into the bushing?
@MotoATX
@MotoATX 3 месяца назад
I didn't on that setup - If you watch the entire video you'll see the bolts that I used to replace the stock ones. I've since upgraded to the Thrashin' Road Glide plate which brings the risers another 2" or so closer to me...so I'm still using these same risers but a different bolt/setup altogether at this point.

How much longer are the thrashin risers compared to the stock ones?
@MotoATX
@MotoATX 6 месяцев назад
Probably about 3" or so. Stock was nearly unusuable for me - the position was horrible but also the vibrations were driving me nuts. I could probably do 9.5" and be a little better...especially since I went with the LaPera seat which kinda sets me down and back and a little...but I'm 6' so the 6.5" are working fine for me. I'd love to sit on a bike with the 9.5"'s to get a feel - if I ever see a ST with that setup I'll definitely ask the owner if I can have a seat and check out the feel.

Would 1/2x13x2.5 work as far as bolts go?
@MotoATX
@MotoATX 7 месяцев назад
not sure - id pull the bolt out and find one that's at least as long. Again, if you end up using a ball end you'll have to factor in however much that eats up the bolt so whatever you end up getting will definitely have to be longer than the stock bolt.

I've heard of a few folks that had some tightness even doing 6.5". I'd suggest trying to move stuff around particularly if the tightness is coming from the bundle of wire that's in the frame feeding the lights, handlebars, speedo, etc... You can get into there and fish some out and there's a little extra length on those cables since they are stuffed in there. Might try that?
