I learnt this trick from you rusty, and i helped me. This guy wanted 5 dollars because of a video game he said he would do it for free so i challenged him to 3 card Monte and won and i kept my 5 dollars.

The one where he reveals the ace is by our right side? He false tosses the ace, which is actually a king, then when he shows the two kings, he's only showing us one. He holds the ace and king in the same hand, making us focus on the king, says "king" drops the ace which we thought were the king, and says "king" showing the sane king we just saw

One alternative trick I've been practicing is hiding a third king in my hand griping it mi pinkie ring finger and middle finger, then instead of doing the fake out toss, I'd drop the third king instead and quickly hiding the ace in the same place as I had hid the third king, making the disappear completely when you flip the cards, then, from that position, you can try a basic "card appearing out of thin air" trick with the ace, with the audience having no idea how or when you separated the ace from the deck nor where the third king came from.

That doesn't work with 3 card monte though because you're supposed to flip up all the cards after to reveal the ace is still there.

So basically you follow the card, and then wherever you think the card is, eliminate that and do a 50/50 gamble on the other two, and you at least stand a chance at winning.

Thats assuming you arent playing agaisnt a true card shark who is instead palming in a fourth card. And if someone is doing the cup and balls version of the monte, give up that ball is in another zipcode by the time your choosing a cup.

Actually that trick is still being used around Richmond, Virginia... my husband was a professional Magician (who doesn't like a good magic trick now and again?) and he used to hustle down there especially in the bars. But we're old now (hes 36 and I'm 33) and we grew up and got real jobs. But... there is a real Magic shop up there and the younger kids have gotten into the tricks and Im sure they are in there right now. LOL. But for a quick greedy trick, 3 card Monty is probably the way to go :)

He false throws the king and pretends it's the ace, moving it to the side. He then picks up the king in his other hand, so the ace is the back of the packet, and the king is visible at the front. He throws the ace, shows the king, and then puts the king down.

Alright, I spent about 5 minutes watching that frame by frame and had such a huge holy shit moment. This has got to take tons of concentration to pull off. The big trick is that the first toss ("we'll put the ace over here") was actually a king on top of the ace he showed. Then, he tosses a king over to the left side of the screen and makes it visible to the camera (careful to fully cover the ace on top). Then he tosses that ace on top instead of the king he showed, then shows the same exact king again. From there, there are no more tricks. it's fuckin crazy shit man.

play the video at .5 speed and it's pretty obvious what happens. a couple of his fake tosses combined with flashing the king of spades twice (sneaky) to show both kings on one side. i wasnt sure at first either but slow it down and you can track the cards easily enough.
