shalom sir I just want to ask you on the account of the rich man and lazarus, if the story is should be taken literally wouldn't that mean the rich man is being punish before the trial in the judgement day?

Surely we should recognise that the story of Jonah is not a literal event. Firstly the Bible does not mention a whale, it says a large fish. Do we know of any fish that could swallow a man in one piece without injuring him. The answer is no. One thing we do know is that it is impossible for a man to survive under water without air for more than a few minutes. The Bible tell us that this fish took Jonah down to the "roots of the mountains". In other words to the deepest part of the ocean. Do we know of any surface feeding fish that can survive at that depth. Again the answer is no. We do know however that if Jonah had been taken down to that depth and somehow survived, he would have died a painful death from the bends when he came back to the surface. The Bible tells us that the fish vomited Jonah up on the shore at Ninevah. That is impossible because Ninevah is not on the coast. Therefore some people completely misunderstand the true meaning of the story. God had commanded Jonah to go to Ninevah to tell the people to stop their evil ways. Jonah disobeyed God and headed away from Ninevah. He was however overcome with guilt at having disobeyed God. He describes his agony as like being swallowed by a fish and taken down to the "roots of the mountains". This is a Biblical term for Hell. Jonah believed that he would go to Hell for disobeying God. So he prayed to God and got the strength to go back to Ninevah. He describes his relief as being like being vomited out of the fish's belly. He had overcome his sin. Jonah had been under the control of sin for three days and three nights. In the same way Jesus was under the control of sinners from the time He was arrested on the Thursday until He rose from the dead on Sunday. The term that He uses is "the heart of the earth" which is the same as the "roots of the mountains" in the story of Jonah. Therefore the prediction of Jesus is fulfilled.

Alan don't presume on the days Yahushua was in the grave . from the time of his death 2 Days represent 2000 years of spiritual slavery ( THE FAMINE OF TRUTH SPOKEN IN THE BOOK OF AMOS ) and on the 3rd day he arose early in the morning , meaning after 2000 years of spiritual captivity due to the transgression of Israel ,the father Yahuwah would regather his children from around the world whom he scattered , beginning with the first fruits, the literal 144000 elect , Alan you hold so much truth Yet there are things being counted against you , and that little leaven is destroying all your works which will be burned up
