One of many notable snubs, through Three Dog Night was mostly pop music. Edgier bands like Supertramp, Jethro Tull, Kansas, Thin Lizzy, Styx, Blue Oyster Cult,Foreigner probably deserve to be selected in before them. R&RHOF is a joke anyway.

This song displays Chuck Negron's great vocals he is the one with the mustache. The three lead singers had great harmony singing. Three Dog Night had a ton of hits back in the 70's. I seen them live several times and they put on great shows. Easy to be hard and Mama told me not to come is one of my favorites.👍👍

That man's voice has always knocked me out. Three Dog Night is a big part of the soundtrack to my life (& for millions of others). They were one of those very few bands where nobody would, or could, make fun of you for liking. I know of no one who didn't dig them.

Three Dog Night had many hits. Easy To Be Hard was their third hit of 1969, followed by their 4th, Eli's Coming. Another great song, which, BTW, was written by Laura Nyro, & first released on her fabulous 1968 LP, Eli & The Thirteenth Confession. If you haven't listened to that album yet, treat yourself. You'll be so glad you did!!!!!

This song has always been of my favourites of Three Dog Night and made me fall in love with Chuck Negron. ❤ Originally sung by Lynne Kellogg in 1968 in the Rock musical Hair, the emotion Chuck poured into this version is so emotional and pulls at your heart strings. 😢 Such a sad song that sadly still sums up our world situation today. 😢 From their 1969 album, "Suitable For Framing', this song jumped up the charts, Number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100's and Number 1 in Canada. Three Dog Night had 21 songs on the Billboard Top 40's, 3 made it to Number 1. Beautiful instrumentation from start to finish, ❤ , Great reaction Harri. Chuck Negron is one of the greatest singers ever in my opinion. Cory Welles and Danny Hutton are great also. Very successful group from 68 maybe to 75. Cory did a phenomenal job covering Try a Little Tenderness by Otis Redding.

Some context to the lyrics, this song is in the libretto of the musical HAIR, and was sung onstage by a woman. She had a baby out of wedlock with her boyfriend, who has just left her with the child. Basically it is heartbreaking in a way that women have always understood, to this day. I remember sobbing when it was performed. I saw the play in 1971 in Seattle and a couple of my friends were in the cast. It can be generalized to all people and Chuck Negron gives an amazing performance.

“ Out in the Country” has always been my favorite song from Three Dog Night. Danny, Cory and Chuck were indeed a force to be reckoned with in the 70’s and 80’s . Saw them on a twin bill with America in the mid 80’s. Great show. Loved the reaction, Hari. Your empathy towards children is very genuine and awesome. Please go see the movie “ Sound of Freedom “ while it in theatres, hopefully in the UK soon. Cheers from the US

I saw them play with America also and I thought they went in the wrong order. Three Dog Night got everybody all peppy and then you got so many slower tunes like "Horse With No Name" coming from America. It was a great show anyway, but I've always thought America should have gone first.

I always loved his singing and I would think they would have loved to have him back, if there weren't things affecting the decision that we'll never know.

The song is from the off broadway musical play; "Hair". I happened to be standing on Broadway when that was playing with a couple of Marine comrades of mine. Instead of going to see "Hair" we decided to go to a theater and watch "Tora-Tora_Tora". A decision I regret to this day!

It’s funny how as we age we regret decisions not made. Retired military here, and I can tell if I had been with you guys I would have seen the movie too. “ Hair” was a polar opposite portrayal of life than what Marines experienced back then. Can’t see how it would’ve been pleasant at all.

This is from a stage musical called HAIR . It yielded several hits . It was about the hippie scene , written by people who were part of it . Dismissed at the time , many of the songs describe problems that have never gone away .

Three Dog Night's song had SO much substance! They were ahead of their time with meaningful messages in their music...in a time when their was SO much unrest...the Vietnam War, early years after Civil Rights Laws were enacted and more!! Great lead vocals by Chuck Negron! Three Dog Night has SO many great hits!!! The band had 21 Billboard Top 40 hits between 1969 and 1975! It's a TRAVESTY of the music world that they are not in the Rock & Roll HOF!!! Chuck Negron was right, "Easy to be COLD!!"

This is one of my favorite TDN songs along with "Out In The Country" I was blessed to have seen them live in their early career in 1968 in Miami at the Miami Pop Festival. They were absolutely incredible - spot on - perfect harmonies!!!
