Maybe one talking about crustal-thickening induced melts?

Hi guys, awesome video, I don't remember it being described to me so clearly when I did geology at univ. many years ago.

nice explanation that was not given at university...one question, why there's here an emphasis in the second example of the lowering of the pressure on the mantle? Isn't the thermal gradient of the astenosphere going to shallow depths enough of an explanation for the melt? I got mentioned repeatedly the part with he pressure being lower...how does it add up to the already clear geothermal gradient explanation?

well UTD GEOSCIENCE STUDIO!! thanxxs alot for the video .Its really helpful. Can you please upload a video regarding geochemistry equillibrium melting , batch melting and rayleigh melting in reference to compatible and incompatible element?

NIce work! Worth using in class. Thanks. But I can't help but wonder about a fourth mechanism, hypervelocity bolide impacts fracturing the lithosphere, locally perturbing lithostatic P&T conditions and also generating magma.

Hi GC Herman, thanks for your comment! Yeah, great point. We are more focusing on the common ways on this video, and the mechanism you talking about doesn't happen much since Hadean times. So we don't want to complicate this video, but we may make the extensive version video on this topic in the future, thank you again for your comment!

This is RICH! Thank you for sharing! I wonder would it be possible to update the closed captioning for accessibility? There are a few places where it doesn't match the narrator.

Thank you so much for your comment, Rachel. I would let Lochlan (the guy who made this video) know and update the caption in the description part, I would let you know after I updated it.
