Love all the images. For me, the paper choice depends upon the subject. For the car, because of the chrome, I prefer the glossy paper. For that image of the bowls I like the warmer look because the light coming from outside. That landscape is really cool on the matte. I like the shadows on that. Question: Do you believe the glossy gives an appearance of more sharpness? I always liked matte when I wanted an softer look. But, not sure that's really the case. Cool comparison!! I do think glossy is sharper or at least gives the perception of more sharpness -- possibly because of the heightened contrast.

Hello, my friend. I always hated the curling of the photo paper. I always used Ilford paper in my darkroom. Usually semi-gloss, but now there are other types of paper from Ilford. That warm-tone matte paper was not available yet. Or I must have missed it. And I never used the matte paper. When I see them next to each other (RU-vid????) I go for the two outer ones. this is probably a dumb question, but how are you getting the paper to be black around the image (vs usually its white)? Thanks for the informative video!!

These are all contact prints -- the larger ones are from either LVT or digital negs

Very nice comparison. I had not seen the semi-mat before. Recently, I've started to trying some of the Ilford Art 300 paper which has a lovely eggshell finish, and a rather hefty weight. Have you tried the one?

Not darkroom related printing or paper types, but my images are printed by the local framing and printing business and they use Ilford Smooth Pearl fine art paper which i love the look of for my nightscape Images

@@Keithdotson they're printed on a Canon prograf pro 6100, very grateful they gave me all the information so I could download the icc profile to be able to soft proof

I like the video but the title is a bit misleading if you only compare three FB papers, nothing about RC. A more accurate title would be nice for those who don't use FB, something like 'lford FB Darkroom Photo Papers - Comparison of 3 surfaces'.
