Reminds me the story of a marketing manager who killed a series of ads that everyone loved. And his point was: everybody loved these ads, but nobody bought the product. These websites feel pretty much the same way: They looks amazing, the animation is crazy complicated, but I would hate being an user trying to get something done or finding a piece of information on these websites.
Im in the industry of GRAPHIC DESIGN for quite some time and let me tell you one simple thing - you grow to appreciate and be fond of aesthetics. Clarity and message delivery are very crucial for best informative portfolios. I used to get excited from all the game-like websites and being impressed by developers capabilities. The skills are very much shown, of course! but as a recruiter I couldn't for the world have managed 30 seconds in these overdone portfolios just in order to navigate and check one quality fit.
@@14onyx So basically keep the portfolio minimalistic while showing a bit of your creative abilities and expand on those said abilities in the projects you include in the portfolio? As a recruiter, what else would leave you with a good impression with websites like these?
It's just a way to showcase your skills and make you stand out. It doesn't have to be totally practical, but if you can build this, you pretty much know web dev solid.
Loved the last one. First one - not so much. Creativity is no good without thinking of usability. Users should be able to focus on the text when they're trying to read something.
Its still quite readable if you keep cursor away from text, Plus I think will that level of work, he can implement a text-bubble wrap function. The one i prsonally liked the most is the 2nd one, It is going to be hard to top that
@@ahmedifhaam2669 I'll add that these kinds of portfolios are typically seen in Designer work vs developers though from what I see the Design/Developer role is interchangeable and many these days specialize in both.
@@ahmedifhaam2669 usually when a person reads some text on a screen, their cursor naturally moves over the text/image. the first website just had lacking ux in this regards.
I feel some of this websites are kind of too much. I get that some of these developers make one of these 3D personal website/cv for testing and showing off skills purposes. But they don't seem functional at all tbh, too distracting and takes too long to go through the website. Still cool for other things tho
@@mushroom6075 I would like my reviewer to actually read my resume but UI /UX don't need too overpowering in most cases ....maybe if they are looking for a three js developer
@@mushroom6075 yeah i guess, what i mean is that most employers probably don't want anything like those over the top websites, so imo they don't really show off the kind of thing that an employer would look for
@@drchey1397 which is why these are important things that need to be considered by devs. No employer is the same, they are all different so its all about tailoring; I think these portfolios are great, and would definitely land them employment but maybe to subdue that factor that you mentioned which is very valid because sometimes employers want to just get straight to the resume, they could provide different mediums within the website, for example options, an explore option to get the immersive experience like showcased in the video or a resume option to go straight to the work and skills. I believe that we shouldn’t compress our creative abilities just to suit employers but we should adapt, else we would be broke haha
One thing u missed, On clicking ramen bowel 3D model on rooftop is breaks into splashes.. really really cool.. and creates a beautiful matrix like pattern to create bowl again
on the final website, there is Japanese text, one says good, another says ramen (I'm sure he put that there to further emphasize the ramen theme ), and one that says Ramune which is a delicious drink, so, yeah there are just that many details in these webpages.
Hey Mark! I wish! Right now I’m creeping toward 100k, but still it’s a far journey. I do appreciate the kind comments and I’m thrilled I was able to drag you into the world of web dev! All the best dude! 😎
As someone who also speaks French, honestly it's no surprise a lot of the insane 3d artistic web projects are often French. The French really don't play around with Arts, cuisine, and also fragrances.
do you specialize in threejs in ur dev job? Asking because I'm curious how marketable three.js skills are for junior front-end web developers positions..

Hi. I got interested in website design recently and would love to start a career. Your reaction videos, though advanced on my level, do provide wonderful ideas and are educational. Would love to see reaction videos for WordPress web design in the future.
I know that it’s stupid as a RU-vid viewer to write a comment like “that’s it, I’m unsubscribing” and acting as if the RU-vidr really cares about that. But I just want to say: I really want to enjoy your videos. But if there’s a 1:30 minute intro telling me to subscribe and then after showing one website you go into an ad that’s more than 2 minutes long, it really gives the viewer the impression that you don’t really care about the viewing experience. Honestly, I’d rather save 13 minutes then and see three links to the portfolios so I can look at them myself. Of course I’m fine with RU-vidrs getting that money, but the way you do it really turned me off of watching your videos and I feel like other people might feel the same. You might see it in the retention rate, I might be wrong too. You have better insight than me.
Thanks for the comment, I think it’s important for me to address this! First of all, you are more than welcome to not watch my videos, nor to subscribe. I don’t force anyone to watch even a second of my content, people come here because they like what I do ☺️ You are always in control and can skip the introduction if you feel it’s irrelevant, there are also timestamps that allow you to do that and get directly into the actual content. As per the adverts, I don’t actually decide if a 2 minute video shows up, it’s not in my control. On that note, you can install Adblock and never see an advert on RU-vid again. I put hours of work to make these videos so others can watch it for free and be entertained and inspired. ☺️ I’m happy for you to “save the 13 minutes” and watch someone else if that’s how you feel! 😎 All the best!
Can i be a logo designer and video editor at the same time on my portfolio website and actually showcase some of my best logo design and video editing works I’ve done🙏?
TNice tutorials is literally the hardest tNice tutorialng my brain can't comprehend. AnytNice tutorialng else I do takes a few minutes and tNice tutorials is just.. it's just so confusing
God damn... can those people just stop f*cking asking for subs like all the time! I haven't even watched ONE second of entertaining content so far and you're telling me that most of your viewers are NEW viewers, that youtube recomended your Videos to so you grow your audience, so what??
