@babar afridi my tree is 9 years old and still no coconut. How much salt did you apply. After how many months of salt application did your tree start yielding coconut? Please reply
Drip irrigation is best for coconut trees.coconut production increases by15 percent . please provide 2 drippers for each plant at 180 degrees apart( opposit to each other) . The capacity of dripper should be 14 litres per hour. When there are good rains., no drip irrigation is reqired. During winter season., daily 1hour drip irrigation is enough. But during summer season., 2 hours drip irrigation is enough.
Flood irrigation is not good for coco nut trees. Follwing are the disadvantages: 1)Requires labour. 2)wastage of water by 30 percent. 3)Weeds problem increases. 3)soil texturr, structure and poracity damages. 4) Immeaditely after flood irrigation, the coconut tree ca'nt absorb nutrients from the soil, because of high water. The coconut tree sleeps for 3 days , till the moisture level comes to 75 percent. After 3 days, the plant absorbs food from soil for 4 days. After 4 days, the plant starves for food, when the soil moisture drops, below 15 percent. so, the wastage of time is 6 days in 10 days cycle. All most all the farmers impressin is fllood irrigation good. But ., that is not correct.
