I am a Timex only collector and I never have this issue. I know this sounds like a joke, but I now have over 70 Timex and I'm in love with the history of the company. It was the watch grew up with and all the Men in my family wore when I was a kid. It democratized wrist watches and soon all the hardworking Men and later woman were wearing one. It's as pure as horology gets. Many of my 70 year old Timex watches are working today.
I grew up in Waterbury Connecticut. The Timex watch expo and museum is amazing. Just down the street is the buildings where the radium girls lumed the watch hands. The building is still there, but abandoned and crumbling.
Facts, it’s the reality of these cities, I’ve experienced it first hand, in Barcelona and Paris. Be careful, don’t flash your watch, keep it covered by a sleeve if you are out. or, don’t take your valuables, or watches you can’t replace. Personally, my heavy hitters don’t really leave my postcode, unless I know exactly where I’m going.
Love Studio Underd0g! Definitely the best up and coming micro brand! I love the fact he got bored and started the business in lockdown! Great video as always guys! 😃💪
Good work guys. Fantastic content per usual, no apologizes necessary. Crime particularly theft is out of control here in the U.S. and throughout Western Europe. The people that are upset by this reality should take it up with the leaders that continue to allow this to happen. Keep up the great content.
@@stockholmpublishings2937 imagine if someone shoots you over a fake Rolex or a lookalike before approaching your dead body and finding out it's fake lmao
Main problem is politicians doing nothing about poverty, though in any case crime is actually down. It’s just at news media loves to talk about it cause it gets viewers
@@friskjidjidoglu7415 Perhaps the prosecution of crime on the books is down but come to any major city in the West and you will see first-hand that crime is not down. Many politicians do a lot for poverty… they perpetuate it. How else would they keep people dependent, obedient, and voting for them?
Intro to this video happened in Johannesburg, South Africa. Its getting really crazy day by day in this country. When you do visit anywhere in SA, best to keep a low profile ;) Love your content. Keep up the GREAT work!
I just wear my vintage Patek Calatrava on leather strap without any worry in the world. It’s small by modern standards and white gold makes it look like steel to other people. Kind of funny that I’ll wear a Calatrava with a t-shirt and jeans and a rare vintage Rolex that’s recognizable to events.
Thanks guys - loved this video and the previous one plus the selection of watches offered.Never realised watch theft was such an issue until a family member had his 20k EUR watch stolen off his wrist on holiday in a well-known European city. Subscribed! I'd also like to know more about the blue tourbillon you mentioned midway through this video as I didn't catch the make - stunning piece
Get a 3 watch travel collection: a Casio AE1200 with metal bracelet, a Vostok Amphibia and a Pagani Design Speedmaster V3, is super cheap and you can go anywhere in the world, no worries for been robbed, missed, destroyed or whatever!
Wow, I love that blood orange Underd0g! I hope that it goes into mass production. I just don't have the financial firepower to compete when it comes to auctioned off watches for charity.
it happens in NYC and in other parts of NY and in other U. S. cities. it most definitely happens in cities like Brazil. this happens all over the world.
Hey guys, love your general content and this "Not Getting Robbed" mini-series on your channel - important conversation regarding expensive watch pieces, I agree. A watch I'd like to add to the mix that is fairly cheap and really awesome too is the new Tissot PRX Powermatic 80, which is $650 with a steel bracelet or $625 with a strap. Check it out if you haven't - it's a great looking watch from a swiss brand that actually has heritage and a patented unique 80 hour power reserve mechanical movement. Thanks for the content! - Kimani A.
@@BabyJesus66 Perhaps - at least you know its quickly attainable (again) and fairly cheap to not cry over for (if it is stolen) versus the AP Royal Oak. Just saying 🤷🏾♂️
I will stick with my VOSTOK I love the uniqueness of it and it is cheap enough that I won't fight losing it though it was a gift to myself for accomplishing a goal.
The point made here is sensible, but the whole thing is laughably insane. Imagine Porsche saying : keep your 911 in the garage and drive a VW Polo. Or Cifonelli going : keep your bespoke suit in the wardrobe and wear GAP shirts and trousers. The watch media community acknowledging the luxury watch collecting isn’t such a good idea.
Or people telling girls to not wear certain cloths to not get assaulted... Yeah being cautious is always a good thing, but the root cause needs to be fixed ASAP, police needs to step up their game.
For me Tudor is also a brand which is still under the radar, far fewer people notice it compared to when wearing a Rolex. But that's the thing everyone knows Rolex, even people that aren't into watches.
At this point I think the only watches that are sort of impervious to being stolen are smart watches or G-Shocks. The problem is with the advent of the smart watch, the only people who have conventional watches are going to be "watch people" and typically they are not going to buy junk. So anyone wearing a conventional watch is going to be a target. The Jacques Bianchi is a strange choice because a quick search doesn't turn up much! A Kickstarter from 2021!? I'd suggest a Seiko or Orient diver! My last vacation I took a Orient Triton diver.
I know this may sound crazy, but some of the Orients would be such great looking, that I feel like you could also get jumped for them. I am seriously considering getting a Casio Duro or a cheap chinese at this point....
@@12801270able I was thinking it would be funny if all the watch guys just started wearing fakes or homage watches. Once the crooks stole enough of those they might just give up!
I want more of these series.. it's sad that I even want more of these episode. but that's the reality now.. I need more inspiration for affordable non rare watches.
I've experienced this in USA, in San Francisco. People say all these bad things about Thailand, where I live, but I am always safe in Bangkok, no degenerates in the subway, in the shopping center, none of that. Anyways, its a great topic you guys made, people afraid to talk about it on RU-vid videos but I can assure you every collector is worried about this these days
My place got robbed once. They took the watch box out of my room but left it on the stairs before they left. Bunch of seikos, ball, bell and Ross, Hamilton etc. So my travel tip, just wear a seiko cause people think they are cheap
You cannot be serious. The JB is $3500+ on the secondary market. The MoonSwatch is unavailable except on eBay for the equivalent of one week of salary for many people. Studio Underd0g: same story. These “recommendations” are all about fear mongering, name dropping and looking clever. Cut it out.
Wear Vostok Amphibia and Komandirskie watches. No one wants to jack those. Also Bertucci field watches are not expensive but pretty cool. There are so many affordable brands which are still nice. Or you could get an obscure brand From Ali express.
if you can't cruise smoothly driving your Aston Martin and wearing your Richard Mille without been attacked, where is the world going about Jacques Bianchi 200m, if you look closely, the diver on the watch wears a JB 200m,and on his watch there's a drawing of a diver with a JBianchi 200m on his wrist, and on that watch there is a drawing of a diver..............
The guys, mainly grey market dealers, that brag daily on RU-vid how much these watches are worth, have a big responsibility in this. They should stop now.
People who say "oh i just put on my no flashy luxury watches, like Calatrava or GS".. dude those thieves also watch hodinkee, revolution.. They're probably in this comment section too.
Nah, every watch thief out there knows what a tourbillon is. A tourbillon is the most ostentatious watch complication -- no matter how never-heard the brand is.
If you're rich enough to flaunt excessive opulence on your wrist, don't be accessible to poor criminals. Same thing would happen if went to the 'hood with ,$50,000 cash in your hand.
Oddly enough, when I see something so disgusting and brutal as these robberies, the reputation of the host city/town is the furthest thing from my mind.
