Three Obvious jazz lines(that you need to know)-Part One.
These are very common bop licks for D9-Db9-Cmaj7(or C6)that are found in many classic Bebop era recordings from the 40s and 50s. Please note that the same line is used for each chord "zone" by moving the same lick from the fifth position to the fourth(Modulation of down in half step).
The lines resolve to the Cmaj7 chord by employing an approach tone(s) to resolve either to the 5th, or 3rd of the C triad.
