Three amazing aircraft with three different incredible sounds but at the end of the day the Mossie with its two Rolls Royce Merlins humming away wins it for me every time.
El North American B-25 tuve la suerte de verlo volar . En mi pais prestaron servicio entre 1950 y 1962 catorce B-25 . Mis Saludos cordiales de Montevideo Uruguay ✈️ 🇺🇾
Judging from my own experience, and not remembering ever hearing a Merlin engine in actuality, I can say that the 1830's on the PBY are very nice, for sure! But I can tell you that the sound of those two R2600's on the B-25 are the sound of power, especially if you're in the nose as I was, and they are LOUD!
Hey, that's the Dutch operated B-25 Mitchell Sarinah and by the looks of it filmed at it's base Gilze Rijen, lovely. She should be back on the airshow circuit in 2025.
I'm building a diorama of a Catalina at 1/72 scale, the props will turn but now I must have the sound of the engines! Thank you for sharing this video.
Yes and no. In my experience (of two different Mosquitos), the two merlins in the Mossie sound quite different to the sound you get when two Spitfires are flying together. Not sure why.
@@historicalmachines Some years ago the BBMF overflew my house. One Spitfire, one Hurricane and one Lancaster. The sound was extraordinary. That will put a smile on your face 🙂
Having now had the (rare) opportunity to stand (and film) underneath two different Mosquito's as they roared by overhead, I actually think that a Mosquito with its two Merlins sounds better than two Spitfires together. There's something about the sound that is just way better.
Could be the airframe effects the sound, like an acoustic guitar body the pby's big wing resonating. The mossie being wooden vs spitfire aluminium, different tone. Maybe.
Was at a friends last yr out in the countryside..near some downland Suddenly heard this strange rumbling noise, looked acros the valley it was the Mitchell....What ba glorious old fashioned racket. The Mossie isnt as intersting.
