Whether you're new to alternate tunings, or looking to expand on what you know, in this video I’m gonna show you three d tunings that will open up your guitar playing! As always I’ll be teaching you through examples from legendary guitar players who used them. I've tabbed out a few of the best parts, which are available over on the Patreon! Enjoy it!

There's a tuning for Stocking Feet Blues that Todd Albright does that I can't figure out and I can't find anyone that can . I'd love some help with it and I'm willing to pay for the info.

Dude I’m happy to give you whatever info I can. I just recorded fiddle for Todd on stocking feet so I know it pretty well. Couple options: head to my website and write me a note there and we can set something up. Or you can subscribe to the patreon “rare level” and I make folks tabs and song breakdowns.

Can the Folk O Matic be installed on any guitar?🧐 How much? I want one!🤔

The thing about this prototype is it only works if you stuff your resonator guitar with newspaper, 🤷, Parr lucked out in that regard.

@@kostringworks i mean I got crow Jane down but I cannot sing in that mesmerising high tone he had. Would love a video of how JB Lenoir does the Whale has swallowed me as I can’t work out if it’s standard tuning because he does some wild percussive stuff as well on his Gibson acoustic. I don’t believe anyone has tackled that song as a lesson?

Those RU-vid tutorials that mention about putting your thumb here and forefinger here just sucks the life out of these beautiful songs that they never played the same way twice anyway

Kyle? I am so gratified by your work here. I played Drop D in 1970 at the insistence of a friend in high school, Barry Nelson, a year younger and definitely my mentor. But "this vein of blues" is well, all about me, but not so in the mainstream. So... I love this episode ever the much more. It's like resurgence of the roots of my youth. I spent years wishing I could go blind and be black, Blind Boy Sammy... you should laugh at this. Now 52 years later, you understand, I had Ray Ban Sunglasses double dipped extra dark to simulate my blindness. Well anyway, I hope you are always right there, where I find you, but supported with all you need to pursue what you love, and I love as well... I am the blues in the midst of joy!

Jerry Garcia adored LIb Cotton and even gave her royalties for from the Reckoning album for Baby it ain’t no lie. Whilst her tunes may sound simple they are anything but to play in time.
@kostringworks

Dude trying to play like her breaks my brain. It’s really fun when you crack into a few of her idoms though cause what she does is so different (for obvious reasons!). Didn’t know that about Garcia, more people should be doing that.

@@kostringworks absolutely and I heard she bought a refrigerator with her first cheque. Guys like Lomax, John Fahey, Steffan Grossman played their part in digging out these legends living in poverty. My Dad being a Dead fan in the U.K. would play live dead and I kept on seeing this name Reverend Gary Davis on death don’t have no mercy and salmon and Delilah and it took me twenty odd years to get a guitar and realised how anyone who was anyone was in awe of him. Roy Bookbinder tales of touring with him are so funny. I can’t play like any one of em but as Bookbinder said you do whatever works for you and ultimately it does become your own sound.

@@andrewbowen6875 I love that. I learned my about guitar from Rev videos than any guitar lesson anyone tried to give me. But also didn’t start out in love w him either. I think Todd Albright and Roy are coming here to my shop next year together! 🤞
