that's so cool deleuze talked about hacking. im into cyber security and reading deleuze reminded me a lot of it. finding a vulnerability is essentially finding a line of flight, granting you access to different "strata" of the computer. and in order to understand programs you need to essentially deterritorialize them whether it's through decompiling or just reverse engineering. looking for new vulnerabilities and attack vectors requires rhizomatic thinking too, because computer systems are rhizomatic. deleuze is so cool he tickles my autism
@@deleuzephilosophy In general, I'd sat programming is a very arborescent exercise (at least at the basic level which is where I'm at), but what daft said also checks out quite a bit. It probably depends quite a bit on what aspects of computers systems you're talking about though I'd imagine, although at the end up the day, both software programming and hardware programming (machine code) are based on formal logic, which along with math, is probably the most arborescent discursive regime in existence (proofs of statements about a given math/logic system form a cumulative vertical scaffolding from which further things can be proved).
for something to be "deterritorialized" means it's link or correlation with a certain territory to be lessened, and in the context of a discussion of capitalism, a "deterritorializing center" simply means globalization of financial capital...
The computer disruptors are not “hackers” I believe they are the researchers working at the heart of computer science at the intersection of logic, mathematics and programming. I think you should look into stuff related to type theory (homotopy type theory, Martin lof type theory), the univalent foundations program, models of quantum computing and so on. All these topics have deep philosophical core yet to be realized.

I really dig your channel. Love how you represent the development of power towards the direction of the iPhone - worth pointing out but the physical phone literally controls our actions directly through its interface. In fact every mass produced machine has these interfaces that control and monitor our movements and it only gets more and more precise. It's in the direction of trying to transform every possible movement into a predictable format for the machine, which acts as a form of programming. The user interface produced is actually one of the most heavily engineered pieces of social media since it creates the literal pathways that users travel through. The way these interfaces are designed have incredible power to shape the users - compare the neurosis seen on Twitter with Reddit, then compare what parts of the interface they emphasize in communication.

Thanks. A while ago I thought of that old '84 Mac commercial where they fling the sledge hammer at the screen with Big Brother's controlling gaze on it. If you wanted to complete that ad, I thought, you could flash to the next scene, 21st Century, rich in color, but in which people are milling about, walking down the street, etc., gazing down at their iPhones, each one with an individualized picture of Big Brother on them :)

The first quote is not about working conditions worsening. That’s very oversimplified for what he is speaking of. The work he is talking about is not the steady 20$ a hour amazing jobs but precarious work - work considered not work - that the third world and developing nations had so much of as they were places of pure exploitation. Precarious work would be those who wander trash piles looking for the odd item that they can sell for money to get food. This is precarious non work in a way special to capitalist modes of production. This is why he uses the term ‘undeclared work’ because it isn’t counted on any balance sheet. It’s still an accurate prediction - the mass of people who exist on Posh or Fb marketplace or Craigslist selling things they find or repair, this is precarious non work. His use of temporary work is the gig economy. In short. He is not saying working conditions are going to get worse. That’s not a prediction. That’s visible at any point in the last 70 years. Specifically the importance of non work within the flux of constant capital - that’s the genius. -- It’s not that modern societies tell us who to become. 8:30 He’s very particular with his words here. Power individualizes its subjects. It’s not that power tells you who to become. It’s that power tell you to become at all. The individualization that occurs is the act of power. Once done, you’re lost to it all and within the grip of the fascizing process. It’s like saying the God exists. Or that god is dead. "précarité du travail"≣"job insécurity" ... in the same context with the other terms he uses, _intérimaire, au noir_ , he is clearly refering to wagework.. so no .. he's not speaking of digging in the trash or selling crap on the internet .. he had absolutely no references to be able to predict something like fb marketplace or craigslist... and increasing job insecurity was something everybody in the left in france was talking about by that time.. about a year after this talk france elected it's first left president in over 25 years, and the popularity of the communist party was increasing - they got 20% of the legislative elections vote the previous year, with about 25% of the votes for the socialist party ... so yeah .. increasing job insecurity was a rather salient problem for the french.. to count deleuze's comments on the subject as prophetic is at least incorrect... your translation of his _accroissement de l'investissement du capital constant_ is very brave but is just as incoherent and highfalutin... his vain pretense at originality often makes him come up with such convolutions.. in this case he simply means _concentration of capital_ .. but saying concentration of capital could be interpreted as endorsing marx and deleuze can't have that ...
Could be, I was thinking of these groups that you often hear the word "leak" in relation to, like wikileaks or anonymous but I admit I'm no expert on these things.
