Three Ways to make the Jika Rig (Bass Fishing Hacks). This is the Better Ned Rig! Before the VMC Tokyo Rig, the Owner Jika or Jig Rig was a great way to catch bass that was Under utilized. Tokyo Rig likely gain it's popularity due to how much social media have aged and how big the fishing community have gotten. But let's give it the Jika rig a chance and blow it back up! Easier to make than the tokyo rig and much more Snagless than the Tokyo Rig!

thx bud! my goal is to spread the love for this older rig. I post a lot on IG, which i have over 40k followers and man not many ppl have used this even tho it's over a decade old! The loop knot drop shot? salt water folks uses a dropper loop. I personally don't want my drop shot to swing, i don't nose hook either. i thread through using a straight shank hook/aberdeen hook. The reason is that it should be finesse, not jumping all over the place. if you need it to move that much, i'd just use a light jighead and swim the lure/vertical jig it. just a preferred way of mine that put me on few PB crappies, bass and pickerels so far ^_^

Why doesn't this have more views
@rawrfishing
@rawrfishing 3 года назад
I speculate a few reasons: 1 Jika Rig is old school, too old and when Tokyo Rig came out, it out shined it due to RU-vidrs who wanted to jump on the fresh rig. 2. As a small RU-vidr, it gets generally less views in the first place, so it doesn't get suggested often. 3. Not much people share videos within the fishing community unless it's something "trending". note these my theories, but I am glad you like this video! hope you slay this season with this rig!

It's a dope 'formula' because there are tons of ways to use this using different weight/hook size combos for finesse to punching, like you mentioned. And the baits are better and better and more are floating or floating appendages like shakey head plastics.
@rawrfishing

indeed! the floating or even neutral buoyancy plastics can give it a totally different action/presentation all together. raWr Fishing, Last year the Jika was my favorite lure. Caught my PD small mouth bass and large mouth on this rig and a lot of others. So far this year no fish. Still have faith in the rig I have not had many chances to use it. I also got into making my own, as someone mentioned I don’t like tying off to a split ring. The factory version uses a welded ring. I wish I could find them. I priced it out my home made version is about the same as the factory unit. Love the swagger tackle pencil weights allowed me to make some light weight units. Don’t like the Ned head open hook rigs that is what drew me to the Jika, the worm style hook. I use Z-Man little and big TRD’s, small Senko’s and Smallie Beaver trailers. Thanks for the tips and tricks.

Jika is such an amazing rig yet under utilized. My goal is to revive it by suggesting folks to try it for ned rigging instead of using a ned jig.
@vincentlivoti4184
@vincentlivoti4184 Год назад
You can buy EWG hooks with a welded ring. VMC makes two kinds. One heavy duty for punching mats and a lighter wire hook. Gamakatsu also makes one EWG for super lined. Owner is coming out with one as well. Was just shown at ICAST 2023.
@lw7128
@lw7128 4 года назад
Perfect timing, I was just going through my tackle box and found a bunch of 1/0 ewg hooks... no idea why I bought them... but they’d be perfect for this. I tried with just a split ring and just a snap, but my cylinder weights actually have the elongated teardrop shape to snap onto the line, so it would just swing on one side only. I ended up using a split ring as a main connector and using the snap below for the weight. Now I can change out to different weights too. Can’t wait to try it out. Thx for the ideas
@rawrfishing
@rawrfishing 4 года назад
it's a fantastic way to fish! going finesse with it is something people should do more often as it's often for mid to large lures and heavy weights for punching. I personally done all finesse with this, like the japanese. the folks here, in america used it for heavy stuff, but I will revitalize the true usage of this legendary rig ;) thanks for watching and let me know how it goes for you! oh, use super glue if u use zman stuff. they don't stay on the hook long! once u dab that on.. it stays on forever!
@lw7128
@lw7128 4 года назад
raWr Fishing will do. I was planning on using the ned bomb for it, or little havoc pit bosses. As far as Zman stuff. What do you do when you change out baits or put them away when you are done fishing? I have a little pile of zman ned rigs with different colored TRDs and mini jigs all rigged on after use. They have the wire keeper so I can’t really take em off without destroying them. Kinda similar to your superglue. Do you just take em off and toss em? Some times I’m just going out for an hour or two and it seems like a waste of perfectly good bait to do so. Trying to figure how to put them away afterwards. Thx
@rawrfishing

i have 3 colors, green pumpkin, the GP with that chartreuse belly and white.. if it's not winter and water isn't clear, i won't use white.. if it's not muddy, i won't use the chartreuse.. and the rest 80%... just GP.. so super glue it on forever! :)
@rawrfishing
@rawrfishing 4 года назад
I really like the Zman Chinlock Hooks idea.. but they don't have it weightless.. knowing me.. i may retrofit something now using wires and epoxy... but super glue doesn't really rip it that bad.. just a small dab!
@lakrabid
@lakrabid 4 года назад
I've tried these but no luck yet. But it was middle of winter lol. Also tried the same setup just with the long wire dropping down. I was shocked at how well it moved through the weeds. Hi Jim: What size dual lock are you using? If that was a owner it looks like a roughly a size 3. Would you ever use anything smaller than that? As if you were using a number two hook. Do you also think using the dual lock snap is there really any need for a barrel swivel?I know on the Tokyo rigs to use a viral swivel I understand there's a lot more hardware to cause twisting. I believe the ducket Jika rigs use a barrel swivel.
@rawrfishing
@rawrfishing Год назад
Swivel is not needed for jika rigs. Tokyo rig is like more of a power shot rig or drop shot. Thus it's needed when Fishing deeper waters. Clips sizes will vary for your lure sizes and weight, but 2 is acceptable in most finesse cases. I would look into strong paper clip style ones like tactical anglers clip and alike for heavier lures and heavy cover

@andersriksson100
@andersriksson100 Год назад
I prefer the duoloc version but mostly a version of tactical clips, easy to change bait or weight. A split ring, a new knot makes many of us fish the same bait or weight too long... I regularily fish from shore and you get snagged so I even cut a "dent" in the eye of the lead weight so that part usually break first and saves me the bait. I even use drop shot type lead weights with one swivel at each end and cut them in half for desired weight, saves me a lot of money... Tungsten is too expensive and usually doesn't give a significant edge with jika in most situations. Tungsten has its advantages but is generally hyped Imho..
@rawrfishing
@rawrfishing Год назад
I like tactical clips too. Although Tungsten is expensive... We have plenty of Anglers who uses for eco reasons and some use it for regulation purposes. The only two benefit are how hard they are and the sound they make when they hit hard rocks. But I do agree that the price does not make the little amount of benefit worth it. That said, I use it for eco purposes only when I have to.
@andersriksson100
@andersriksson100 Год назад
Thanks for the reply! Sound may attract or scare, hard to know what unless you run a head-to-head test between them during the day. Agree the hardness of tungsten will probably prevent it from wedging between rocks as easy as soft lead. Lead is toxic if digested, birds and humans alike. However, as I understand lost lead weights simply lying on the bottom of a lake is not toxic, won't pollute the water in any significant way.
@rawrfishing
@rawrfishing Год назад
@@andersriksson100 although I am not into marine biology, we got waterways that requires it. We even have water retaining reservoirs that sells annual fishing passes, but no lead cuz it's drinking water. So I dunno... If I were closer and I can fish a private lake... I won't mind abiding by the rules for some better fishing lol... Urban fishing is tough here!
@andersriksson100
@andersriksson100 Год назад
