The game was not pretty, but that will happen if you change almost the entire starting eleven. It was very apparent that most of them have played limited competitive minutes, with misplaced passes and misunderstandings galore. As mentioned about AZ not coming out to play, I think that is a much more demanding type of game, especially for our inexperienced players. Anyhoo, a result is a result, and we need to churn those out!
Mikey is 17 and doesn’t have a great track record for injury, I don’t think Ange is going to play him twice in a week, as a starter, in this first year breaking into the first team. He doesn’t want a long term injury when he is developing so quickly! Ange has said he’s still growing physically. Oderbert and Brennan against palace - Mikey coming off the bench, probably 75th-80th minute
It's certainly an interesting argument about starting Mikey Moore over Werner. Of course, what we have to say is irrelevant in terms of who will get picked as we don't choose them. However, I have a couple of opinions of my own. I personally do think you could start Moore in every premiership game if you wanted. I do think he would handle it. However, I am also one of those people that think if someone could get Werner to believe once more that he can score any sort of goal he wants, we would benefit massively as our depth would be awesome. Will making him last choice instead of curing him benefit anyone at all?
I agree in principle that the designated penalty taker should take them. However. If I were the manager of a team, I would want there to be 2 or 3 players, all as confident and proficient at taking them. This way, you have a choice during games as to whether or not you have someone who is perhaps in need of the goal more than others. You are also less likely to have a proficient penalty taker on the pitch always. Not that we ever get many.
Timo isn’t as bad as people make him out to be in the game. I think it’s exaggerated because we want to see Moore. You can tell he is having massive confidence issues. He could’ve had an assist and the narrative would change a bit
