I'm watching this almost a year after you posted it, I did see it the first time around, though. I took delivery of my e-Niro a couple of weeks before this video came out, so wasn't really in a position to comment about my experiences with it at the time (coincidentally, when I was researching what EV to buy, one of your earlier videos helped me to decide on the e-Niro, so thanks for that). Now that I have had mine for a year I have to say that my experience with it has been mostly positive, the negatives not really worth a mention. I'm happy with the range, the guessometer is pretty accurate for me and the overall performance is very good indeed. I think my experience pretty much reflects your own. I also like the design of the e-Niro. I really don't care what the 'experts' think, it's a good looking car in my opinion. It's just gone through its first service after 12 months and just under 16,000 km. It needed nothing other than a pollen filter and wash. Overall, I'm very happy I chose it.

Greetings from a sunny spring day in France. your message came on the 4th anniversary of taking delivery of our e-Niro. I have been working on another video today and will edit and post soon, hopefully this evening. We are now at just under 77,000 km. Thanks for your message and sharing your experiences, it is good to know I had some small part to play in your choosing the e-Niro.

Great in depth report. Thanks. We've had one since April 2020. No mechanical issues at all, just happy, perky motoring. Cheap night rate from our electricity supplier means it's about 5p per KWh to charge - don't know how long before they change that. I'm even starting to find it nice to look at. Must be those accumulated memories! Anyone thinking of an EV versus a hybrid, just don't buy a hybrid. You're buying all the possible mechanical faults of both technologies, plus you're giving the oil industry straws to cling to.

Thanks for watching. I’ve heard about the 5p/kWh deals in the UK (Octopus?)....we don’t have such good deals here in France but the average price/kWh is lower. Probably due to not using any gas in the grid mix which is mostly nuclear, hydro and renewables. The looks of the car have grown in me too, though no classic design it looks solid, chunky and has a sort of ‘tough bulldog’ look about it, but those things are of course subjective. We placed the order for the car on 31st December 2018 and I did toy with the idea of going for another hybrid (we had an old Toyota Prius) but Mrs. e-Niro reminded me that I had always wanted to go full electric and cold turkey on fossil fuels so even though the e-Niro was another €10K we went for it and have never looked back.

@@kiae-nirodiariesencore4270 We were on the waiting list for an e-niro for well over a year before it turned up. We'd talked ourselves into that 'cold turkey' on fossil fuels, as you did. Definitely would not go back now. Regret not going for solar panels in combination. It just makes so much sense.

We had our e-Niro since 2020 and after 45K km we still love it. Very practical, the power is more than enough, the range is great and it is so efficient. I quite like the blue stitching on the seats - we wanted the same, but it would prolong the delivery so we got the white stitching. When it comes to colour, the navy blue one is the best IMHO. We did have a white test car and that did not look that good from the front side. All in all it is really a great and reliable car.

It’s always good to hear from another e-Niro owner. We are now on 91,000 km and away for a few days in the Basque country of Spain. The 90,000 km service a few weeks back included a battery health check. All 294 cells are reaching the correct voltage so all looking good there. Please do check out my video on that. Car will be 5 years old in March 2024. Thanks for watching

@@kiae-nirodiariesencore4270 Thank You, I definitely will. I know a guy who had 150 000+ km in his eNiro and apart from one bad battery cell - they did change it under warranty - he had no issues with the car.

I think the older e Niro looks quit beefy, interior looks good enough but better than the old Kona. I really like you can make a burnouts with the older Niro and it's torque is significantly more than the newest Niro. 395 Nm (old) 260 Nm (new). So I waiting for a great offer with low mileage from '21 or '22. Now I'm driving a Hyundai Ioniq 28kwh. I still like it, but I prefer a bigger battery pack that suits me more, I guess......... Nice Review!❤

Yes even with the new cars abound the spec and efficiency of the eniro is still very good. We use ours evedy day, when I test drove the EV6 the quality of the drive was the same as the e niro. We do have an e tron as well which I use for longer journeys as it is such a comfortable drive. I am in France now and happy to drive here (975 miles) in either car

Good to hear from you David. Do you live here permanently now? We are in the bottom corner of the Deux-Sevres, 60 k south of Poitiers, 60 K north of Angouleme. Your thoughts on the EV6 interesting, it won the premium car of the year award in Germany which is quite something. Is your Audi a BEV or PHEV? They are well made cars but I’ve heard the EV efficiency doesn’t match up to Hyundia/Kia or Tesla. I think the premium German brands will have trouble distinguishing their products in the face of rising quality and lower prices from Korea and China...the interiors are superb, my son and his partner have an A3 and A6 between them but in a world of super smooth electric motive power who cares how good the ‘engineering’ is?
@daveiwhittle
@daveiwhittle 2 года назад
@@kiae-nirodiariesencore4270 no our plans to settle in France were dealt a fatal blow due to brexit sadly. My audi is a full EV, one of the origina(2019)l 55 all wheel drive etrons. You are right it is not an efficient car but the luxury compared to the EV6 is noticeable. Things like the feel, partly because it is a heavy car and the air suspension make for a very nice ride. After my positive experience with the e Niro I was going to buy an EV6 until I drove the second hand audi. Don't get me wrong the EV6 is a very nice car although a little boy racerish for my advancing years. The EV6 is also good value and if we were only having one car I would probably have bought it, the audi is my piece of luxury but not for everyone.

@@daveiwhittle Brexit, what a daft idea!..Luckily we moved here in 2013 and have residency so it didn’t affect us in that way although I have one of those much diminished blue passports now...oh well. So I guess both your cars are RHD, have you had the Niro for long? We find it the ideal size for us and have to say it does get used a bit like a van sometimes with trips to the ‘dechetterie’ to recycle things and to bring back bin loads of wood chippings for the garden. All our garden equipment here is battery powered too, mower, trimmer, chainsaw..like many people here we have about a hectare plus and acre of woodland so this equipment gets heavily used. It all works well, no more pulling strings to start motors or having to handle smelly fuel. Maybe I should do a video on that too?

@daveiwhittle 2 года назад
@@kiae-nirodiariesencore4270 ha yes Bonkers Boris Brexit plans certainly changed our ideas, that's life I guess. Yes both cars are RHD and our e Niro transports our three doggies for their daily walks amongst other things. We have had the e Niro for 18 months and plan to keep it for a long time. Ha yes I have replaced petrol appliances with battery ones in France , not the gardens they are way too big and someone does them for us with their ride on. It's no fun trying to start a 2 stroke which has been left a while.

I’ve been looking at the Niro EV for some time now, and actually sat in one on an Earth Day celebration here on California’s “Gold Coast” last weekend. My real concern is storage space: if we were to tour with another couple, I worry that the storage space for suitcases would be too small. I am on the waiting list for a Hyundai I5, but these are trickling into the US West Coast very slowly! Also dealers have no information from Hyundai as to supply, so they won’t answer queries about delivery dates. Love your home-it must be Ireland since you mention visiting the UK.
@timothymartin6489
@timothymartin6489 2 года назад
I think 4 people would be comfortable, but storage in the back is only average. I've seen people add a shelf above the motor - since it doesn't get especially hot under the hood. But a roof box might the thing to solve your problem?

Thanks Graham. Have just booked the 60,000 km service for mid-May. It will be the most expensive one (€180 quote) so we’ll see what they will do for that. On the one hand I don’t want to risk the 7 year warranty but I know full well there is a lot of ‘make work’ going on...like they changed brake fluid at 30,000 km without saying what the moisture content was. We’ll see!

Thank for for making this video! Question: How much does the battery capacity degrade over the years?
@kiae-nirodiariesencore4270
@kiae-nirodiariesencore4270 Год назад
Thanks for watching. Are you talking about loss of range or battery degradation? Strange as it may seem, they are not the same thing. I talked about this a few months ago in another video here which you are welcome to take a look at. I am now at 87,000 km and have seen no loss of range at all but that does not mean there has been no degradation of the battery.

It's never bothered me and it's only on power up and power down. More annoying IMO is where the lane keep assist button is, very hard to see to switch that off when driving. I prefer it to be off when I'm on smaller, twisty roads that have white lines. I guess you could ask the Kia dealer if its possible to turn the power up/down sounds off. Thanks for watching but I have made more videos since then and the car is now coming up for 5 years old and has 94,000 km on the clock.
