I threw my back out 3 days ago. Been completely immobile, worst pain of my life, couldn’t more or stand up since it happened. Last night I did all your stretches , and it was painful and took a long time but I woke up this morning and have a lot of relief. Thank you so much ❤
I'm 31, exercise daily, eat super healthy and I threw out my back. I was terrified, I've had a baby with no pain meds and at least with that pain I knew it would end and I'd have a baby at the end haha, with this pain it was excruciating and had no end in sight. I'm the main care giver to my 4 young children and have no help, my husband had to take 2 days off and was looking at a third which we can't afford I did these twice, I had my husband do the massage part and I'm up and moving. I sat up put of bed on my own! This was a life saver, thank you, thank you so much Update- spent 2 days in pain where I couldn't move and found this video the 2nd night and started. Day 3 was up and moving but could really only stand for 3-5 minutes, I spent the day doing these and other exercises and heat therapy. Today is day four and I'm on my feet more then not. Theres definitely still pain and I have to take rests but I'm able to do tasks with no help. Stick with this, be consistent ❤
WOW!!! I expected to be down and out for at least several days after triggering my lower back spasm 2 days ago. Things had worsened today, so I had to roll off my bed upon waking this morning. After spending the last ~hour going through all of your steps, my pain has subsided enormously!!! Thank you so much for generously sharing your video!
Oh man, this video was like magic. I threw my back out sometime last week & I could barely move for the last 4-5 days. It was my first time having any issues with my back so I had no idea what was going on. The early portion of the video to identify what it means to "throw out your back" was spot on, so I followed along. Now it feels like an 80% improvement. I had previously made an appointment with a chiropractor for tomorrow afternoon. I'll still go, but just to make sure everything is on the right track. Thanks so much.
I first watched this video saying to myself "this guy is outta his mind, I can't do that!", after doing only the first 2 stretches, I can actually get up out of a sitting position without yelping in pain! haha This man is a genius. :)
I “threw out” my back yesterday as I was shoveling snow here in PA. It took me by surprise, as I’d been shoveling for like an hour when it happened. It hurt so bad I thought I might pass out. I was home alone and very scared as I’d lost so much mobility instantly. After assessing that I didn’t seriously injure myself I came across your video and implemented these steps right away and they helped me SO MUCH. I was shocked that I was able to stand up on my own and go up/down stairs by the end of the day based on the pain and how immobile I’d been hours before. I’m so grateful to this video. Thank you so much for making it.
Oh my! This is going to the top of my list of favorite back videos! You are so generous to take the time to make this excellent video. I hurt my back just getting out of a recliner to fast. It hurt so bad I could not walk, had to crawl to get to the bathroom. I thought I herniated a disc. I was scared to death. I've been in bed for 3 days icing my back, just getting weaker. After you described the symptoms I knew it was a lumbar strain not a herniation. That was relieving. I did some of the exercises and after about the 2nd time doing them I could walk straight for a few minutes. I did them every few hours for the rest of the day and I am 70% better. I will continue this till I can walk and bend normally. I am 70 years old so it may take a little longer but I won't give up. Blessing to you for being such a caring doctor.❤
I swear to God, your exercises really helped me out with my lower back. I don’t often write comments but I believe you deserve a lot a lot of respect mate. Thanks a lot for sharing such videos
threw my back out this morning making my bed, had a full day of motocross planned but making my bed literally put me on the floor unable to move in pain. After a few hours I found this video and did all the steps. I"m at least able to walk around the house now and will continue doing these stretches/movements that I have already noticed worked wonders. Thanks!
I had severe back spasm which was unbearable for 1-2 days I was on medications but still felt no improvement but after I followed this video my pain was disappeared and I had no need of a single tablet again!! This was more than a magic. Thank you!!
Taking my time with this and being patient with my body has been helpful. As a freelance videographer, being down on my back means I don’t have any money coming in, so this video was a godsend. No rushing, but it has helped doing this 2-4 times today until I’m able to actually get out of bed.
Phenomenal. I’m in the military and do a highly physical and life or death job. Today was a push through day and I had no idea what to do. Thank you sir. This worked wonders
super helpful! i am 25 and threw my back out yesterday and was in excruciating pain while standing or walking. i had trouble sleeping last night. this morning i followed this video and after about 30-40 minutes i did some cat and cow yoga stretches and feel way better. from an 8 on the pain scale to a 3. thank you!!
This video is a lifesaver! Threw my back out this afternoon and couldn’t stand up straight and was up all night in excruciating pain. Found your video at 3am, followed it and instantly felt relieved. Will definitely repeat a few times the next few days. Thank you!!
Oh my God this has been an issue at least once a year since my mid 20s! I'd usually have to go to a chiropractor to get some relief. This helped me go from literally not being able to do anything to actually walk my dog the first time through!
Thank you! I went from bent forward to being able to stand straight again with good posture in a matter of 20 minutes. Lower back is still sore, but I feel like now I can actually get out for a walk to help things along.
Wow this was amazing I was able to do these steps after hobbling around the past 2 days, I can now walk around straight upright for the first time since I threw out my back. I’m going to keep this going thank you!
My wife threw her back out last night after picking up one of the kids and twisting wrong. She found your video and after 20 mins she was able to walk again! It was like a miracle. She went from debilitating pain and not being able to stand up straight, to walking upright without any pain! Today some pain came back but she's been doing this process and it's helping tremendously. Very grateful for this video!
This video is definitely a God send!!! Yesterday I was in excruciating pain to the point I couldn’t sit or bend over. I prayed that I would feel better then I come on RU-vid and find your video 😃 and now I’m feeling 10 times better than I did yesterday. Thank you so so much!! ♥️♥️
This really helped me, I twisted my back cleaning a side of a fridge and stood-still unable to move, I had difficulty sitting or moving or getting into/out of the bed and though that I heart my spine. My wife found this video the next morning, I started with it and it worked like magic! Before this injury I though that lifting heavy objects was the most common risk but I was mistaken. Any move that pushes the back beyond its everyday moves can develop something painful. Thank you so much for uploading this video.
You described exactly what I was feeling. Yesterday I picked up my bike while being turned in an awkward position. Suddenly I felt this pinching pain and couldn't move in specific directions. Even deeply breathing made it hurt at times. I stretched, massaged, even did the stair master in the gym, went for a walk in the park just to wake up today to tighter muscles, not knowing how to move. Every step caused a sharp pain and due to a "protective" position, other parts started to hurt after a while. Then I found this video and it was like MAGIC!! Instant relief and after one round of all exercises, 1 hr later (took my time with the heat and massage ball) I'm already feeling like a new person. Will keep doing the exercise throughout the day. THANK YOU! Sending this to all my friends!
Omg I threw out my back Saturday Repping 500lbs on squat for 8 on my last set and last rep I felt like pills and pops on lower back. Next day Sunday I couldn’t walk or bend I crawled to go to the RR and make food and when I stood up was so painful. Monday I could walk but short periods than I started crawling couldn’t even sit down play Xbox with the boys. Today I YT and this came on and kid you not! I can walk fast bend and as for the pin it’s mild but I’m gonna keep doing these stretches 5x a day I miss working out and going to work and doing stuff. Thanks man!!! 🔥🔥
Been a week since my injury, time has heald I can now move and bend but my lower back still aches and can be painful,I managed to do these exercises easily but after doing them I feel exhausted and achey. I shall continue thank you.
oh my gosh!!!!! You made my entire month, year!! I am an 53 year old lady that exercises frequently, weights and all. I over did it by trying to get something that was way too heavy from the other side of the couch. I could feel my muscles ripping as I was pulling on a backpack full of weights! Iced and hardly any movement for days, then did heat. 5 days in and just did your warm up, stretch routine and I can't believe how much better I am feeling!!!!! Thanks so so much!
You're welcome! The pandemic has been rough on everyone- just trying to put a little good out there to help out whoever happens to stumble across my clinic's little channel get some useful value. Thanks for the comment and be sure to check out the other videos!
I threw my back out yesterday and was given medication for spasm’s. I don’t like taking medication but of course I needed to at the time but I’m working on these exercises now. Thanks for making this video 🥰
Greetings. I just finished stretching out my back with this video and it feels better. Thank you for doing the stretches along with us,talking to us through each movement, in a calm voice. It can be very scary to feel this level of pain and discomfort but following along with your video calmed me down and I felt immediate relief. Thank you 🎉
Omg! I just did this and I feel no pain in my back. I hurt my back almost 5 days ago and I have to the doctor and the ER. nothing was helping. I seen this video and did the exercises and I’m telling you, right now I feel no pain. Thank you so much.
This video is a miracle !! I pulled out my back & could not even stand up straight nor walk. I followed all the steps including the 20 min massage, & I went just one time through video & was able to walk again. very quick recovery. Thank you ! a miracle
Thank you for sharing this. Threw my back out a few days ago and have just been resting it. But it's such a slow road to recovery. You described the symptoms perfectly. I'm going to start on these today. 😃
Thank you!!! I injured my back just before a big trip and thought I would need to cancel it. I went from needing help to get up from lying down to functioning fairly well after just one time going through this. I’ve now been through it three times over the last 24 hours and am now confident I can continue with my big trip. THANK YOU!!!
@@integritychiropractic Thank you! Unfortunately I have a 27 hour drive coming up! I'll stop and stretch regularly, unless you have another recommednation.
This was honestly a major reassurance. I'm 27 and I've already had surgery on my L5-S1 for a disc herniation caused by a chiropractor, so when I had pain in my lower back again I got so worried. I couldn't stand up quite straight, but it felt more because of tightness than pain so I opted to look and see if there was a holistic solution. I went through the entire video once and I can already stand up straight again. I still have some MINOR pain/discomfort, so I'll continue this regiment for a while. Thank you so much
I was using ice packs and as soon as I did the heat and started breathing I felt an adjustment happen in my vertebrae I loved the routine to stabilize and restore my muscles Thank You❤
I never leave comments on RU-vid but today I will. I left work as I was in agonising pain and nearly went to the ER. I found your video and I cannot believe it but the pain is 90% gone! I took an ibuprofen too so that could also be why? It’s a miracle, 30 min ago I couldn’t get myself up off the floor and now the pain is almost non-existent! I’ll still take it easy though but wanted to say thank you for this!
Great job going through it. Oftentimes patients present to my office even after getting a couple strong meds but they usually only knock the pain down 1-2 points at most I see.
Can’t thank you enough! I’m a solo mum to a 4 month old and put my back out a few days ago to the point where picking her up was at times near impossible. After just following this video once I can move so much freer and can pick her up with only mild discomfort! Magic! Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing this Dr. Wen. I threw out my back at the gym on the weekend and started doing these 36 h after to regain mobility. They’ve helped tremendously!
This video is blessed! I was with terrible pain to walk, I did the exercise once & it improved a lot, will continue with another round today & 2 tomorrow! Thanks
Oh wow I just went from barely able to walk to 80 percent mobility the stretching exercise did it for me now I can get back to work I thought I was gonna have to take time off this morning I cant thank you enough.
Helped bring me relief the first day! Pain moved a bit further down my back the next morning but was better. By the second day I was able to do much more! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this!
This is best thing I have found on lower back pain, stiffness, and the worst of all. Not being able to stand or throwing out your back. This work tremendously and loved being able to follow it. I was up till 5 AM my time suffering till I finally found this. Thank you!
I’m only 25 years old. I was bending down to pick up my socks in my drawer and threw my back out. I’m an active young guy who lifts and runs and plays basketball. this was one of the worst pains I’ve ever had in my life. I couldn’t move my girlfriend watched this video and made me do the exercises in the warm compress. Instant relief it still hurts but I can walk now. Thank you.
I was stuck on the floor but managed to reach the controller and find your video. Thankfully it worked as I thought I needed an ambulance. Thank you so much!
Fantastic video - spot on. At age 73 I got hit with this for the first in my life last week just before bed after a half hour bent over writing on may i-Pad .... the pain was a total 10 on a one to ten scale. Ended up in the ER at 7 a.m. .....they told me it was a "Spasm" and gave me a shot of Tramadol, and it worked and they gave me Flexeril ( muscle relaxer ) and Ibuprofen 600 ( enough for three days ) and sent me home. Gradually I rested, took the pills and got better over the next two days. Last night 5 days later it came back on about a 5 to 6 pain level - again after me humped over working the computer. I found your video and it totally worked! Many thanks ... I liked and subscribed. I really feel I now need to find the ways I can build up my back strength and ways to undo my back hump slouching I do which I imagine is greatly from computer screen time.
You're not alone there. That is a pretty common story I hear from people and patients. We don't have enough variability in our body movement these days, unfortunately. It's good you did go in though to get looked at to be sure it was nothing worse and the meds can be helpful to get over that initial spike of pain so you can actually do the things to help you get back to normal. Good job.
Threw my back out first thing yesterday morning. I got up from bed and I don’t remember why but I bent forward by the door (maybe petting the dog before letting her out?) and that was it. I’ve never had pain quite like this before but I’m the guy who it’s expected with since I do things I shouldn’t do solo, far more often than most. Anyway, believing this will help exponentially!!! I’m supposed to be back to work tomorrow after a two week bout of Covid and it’s random odd but significant side effects. Enough of my ramblings. I’ll post my
I was getting off my couch when I felt my low back spasm on the R on 10/14. I had a 10 hour drive ahead of me. I'm a physical therapist assistant and did the exercises on Sunday morning. I have some relief and will continue with the exercises until my pain is gone. Thank you for the video. It was very helpful.
This is EXACTLY what happened to me 4 days ago!! Pulled a 50 lb bag out of my truck, then started chopping wood and BAM massive spasm happened.... 4am next day I stood up out of bed to go to the bathroom and I passed out from the pain! I thought I was literally dying and was going to call 911. I was on the floor for 2 hours then I texted a friend that also had hurt his back years ago and totally understood. He helped me function and carried me to my truck to go to the chiro..... 3 days later is 70% better but cant move around still that easily.....
I threw mine out lifting and twisting (0 pounds). But I had been dancing for days at a festival then drove 5 hours. I had really tight legs and muscles..something to keep in mind.
I do Brazilian Jiu jitsu and my lower back has been injured where I couldn’t stand straight a few times. This got me back standing straight. Would recommend doing entire follow along.
I'm going to try this but not sure if I will be able to get up from my stomach. It took me about an hour to get out of bed this morning as the spasms kicked in whenever I moved. I might try first on my work chair to use the heating pad. Wish me luck. EDIT: I was able to get to the ground stomach down. Wow! Feel great! I ended up using one of those weighted massage things that go around your body for the self release part. It worked great. It only took me a couple of minutes to stand up. Odd thing is that I got a cramp on the bottom of my foot while I was trying to get up. Thank you so much Dr Frank Wen!
@@integritychiropractic How humble you are to reply immediately. Have a great day. Greetings from South Korea 🇰🇷 but not korean, from the Philippines !
I was just shooting around playing basketball earlier tonight, and when I went down to pick up the ball, I felt a sharp pain near my tailbone. All signs pointed to my lower back going out a bit. This video helped me so much. Took my pain from manageable but v with very slow movement and a lot of pain, to painful but with full mobility regained. Thank you so much!
Holy hell this really worked. Literally couldn't stand up or walk just 3 hours ago and after doing your stretching I can now walk. I don't have full mobility yet but the fact that I can walk on my own and stand up straight is remarkable. I couldn't do the chair exercise though, I can't bend over yet.
heloo from the philippines! i threw my back out 5 days ago. It was so painful, i couldnt move. i spent the day crying. these exercises was very helpful. i will be more careful now, and i will never stress my back out again on weeding the entire day and do the laundry afterwards. it was the biggest mistake huhu. thanks again!
I am constantly lifting lots of weight daily just to care for the farm/ranch. This is nothing new, but I helped my wife roll a new rug under our bed yesterday and I suddenly got a sharp pain in my lower back. The bed was just a fraction of what I am usually lifting, so I ignored it and carried on with my day. By night, I could not move without extreme pain. I have way too much to do everyday (chickens, rabbits, building coops, training a new puppy, children, lawn maintenance, house chores, and the list goes on), and I cannot stop because of pain (nor can I take muscle relaxers to make me drowsy), and I cannot expect others to take up my slack. I have a great deal of pain still, but my mobility is far better than before, and I am able to repeat this process once my day is done, so this is an extremely helpful tool to add to my arsenal. Thank you for the video!
Back in sept 1 2023,I blew out my back. This was the only video that got me moving and relief again! I just blew out my back today just a simple bending over. Thank god i saved this video!
This helped so much! I tweaked my back for the second time. With these practices, my recovery is going to be better and faster this time. I already feel better after part one of this video.
Amazing! I literally passed out on the coach for like 30 min and I woke to crazy pain in my lower back that i could barely walk. After this video I felt 100x better!
Great video! I threw out my back Sunday afternoon carrying 6, 7 heavy albums up and down the stairs. The first thing I did was to look for this video because it had helped me before. I followed the steps until where I could, which was the back bend standing up, and repeated everything except for the massaging part😉 . By evening I was walking and the following day, which was yesterday, I was able to go to work. Today, Tuesday, I still have pain if I stay sitting down for a long time but otherwise it seems fine. I went for a brisk walk, about 2 - 3 km yesterday and today without any problems 😃. Hopefully I can go to my dance workshop on Saturday! All thanks to you ❤
Doc! I have been locked up all week. Had a horrible Thanksgiving because of it. I am beyond pleased to say after doing this my roar of pain went to a dull ach and my range of motion is GREATLY improved. Thanks for the videos Doc 🙏. I will be an avid followers going forward!
My pain started last Monday. I saw my chiropractor Tuesday afternoon but the pain and spasms continued and worsened until by Thursday (Thanksgiving) afternoon the pain was intolerable and I drove myself to the nearest ER where I spent 4 hours. While there the spasms got so bad I was grunting and groaning and couldn't move off my exam room chair. I was given a 12-hour nondrowsy muscle relaxer shot that would work after 30 minutes but it only kicked in after 2-1/2 hours instead, just as I was leaving. It relieved only about 1/3 of my pain and lasted only 8 hours, not 12. More pain/spasms the next day and I was forced to aggravate matters by driving to an urgent care place with a long wait to obtain an Rx I needed that the ER doc had told me I would have to take but he apparently changed his mind about before I left. So I had to get that Rx from another doctor instead. Today I could hardly turtle-walk with a cane outside for just 10 minutes. So much spasming doing any kind of movement and getting in/out of the car was agony because if I can't bend my back I'm too tall for my head to fit through the door frame plus the open door is too far to reach from the driver's seat. Rolling over in bed, getting in/out of bed, and up/down at the toilet have all been difficult and painful. Like some other commenters, my pain began with a slight 'pinch' or 'twinge' feeling in my spine. (Important clue?) I found Dr. Wen's video late Saturday night, did just the preliminaries (up to about the 12 minute mark) and THINK I feel a bit better as a result. I'll know better how I am when I get out of bed the next time. Thank you, Dr. Wen. I've greatly needed some self-help at home. What a wasted and costly week this has been, and I just want the pain and 'seize up' back spasms to cease and to be able to ambulate more normally once again.
Sorry it's been a crappy week. I'm glad you did get checked out because at least you've ruled out a serious medical emergency although hellish pain may not make it seem that way. Take your time going through the video- rushing won't help. If you were here as a patient the process would be a lot faster as I'd take over doing all the manual muscle work for you but I obviously made this to help people like you that are far away or alone. Good luck over the next couple days.
The information was very helpful, I kept limping for over a month after stopping exercising. The loss of mobility idea is what it is for me but it also is possible I just don't target the area enough in different exercises.
Thank u very much!! I woke up with back pain after sleeping on the couch & my lower back gave out. After doing this video I feel better enough to where I can go to work now. Will continue doing your video in the next week! Thank you 🙌👏👏
you made me cry. because i had chronic pain my entire life it doesnt take much to throw out my back. once i had a job u bend every few seconds when i threw it out it took over a year half of horrendous pain just to sit or stand or anything. had a 11 month old now and i threw it out once again and thinking i just got my spine back in olace few months ago!!!! by a ACR in houston and couldnt afford to go back. i knew i onocked my pelvis again i was like great! how! its frustrating being naive not knowing whats what and which stuff to do and not having a place to go ask hey i did this how do i fix it and improve it. ACR saved my life. then for me to f it up two months later... i am so thankful for this video!!!! thank you! i couldnt turn at all i had somehow locked my pelvis and the muscle or whatever that lets you turn to your side was absent had to lanually yank on it to make it turnto the side...
Thank you so much! This morning, I hurt my back badly and couldn't get off the floor. After following your routine, I'm now able to stand and move again. I'm not quite ready for the advanced steps yet, but maybe I will be tomorrow. Although the pain is still there, I can stand and walk. Your video was a blessing to find, and I'll be sure to follow all your videos from now on. Thanks again!❤
I’ve had a terrible cold and injured my back coughing about a week ago. I felt something ‘go’ and I was doubled up in pain. Since them I’ve had spasms trying to cough, turn over in bed, get out of bed and straighten up in the morning. The pain makes me feel nauseous, I’ve never felt a pain like it. I’m a student of yoga and I’ve been using cat/cow exercise and heat prior to finding your video, but your help has been amazing and will take me to the next steps of healing faster. Thank you so much 🙏🏽
