I found this song sometime a week or 2 ago, and I never knew it was a foreboding sign of anything. yesterday I found out a good friend took her own life, and this song has been the only thing comforting me through it. thank you for making this, thrice.

My grand father has been in hospice care for over a week due to liver cancer and has just passed away today being surrounded by his children and wife. The entire family came together (including me) to be with him in his final days while he was lucid. Lost my father to terminal cancer last year. It came fast but we still managed to have some good times together after we got the news. I took care of him in his last days, and this song made me let go of the repressed feelings that I've been keeping inside for over a year. I cried and it was much needed.

I just read the poem this is based on (A great wagon by Rumi), and it's beautiful. Made me realise how this song ties right back into "Only Us". The field beyond the pines is the place where we see all of ourselves without the divisions he sings about in "Only Us". Man I love Thrice.
