Thrice will always be a favorite of mine, I was 18 during this performance(a lot wilder then too) and matured as their music did also. I do enjoy major/minor and beggars, but this is the thrice I was first introduced to and will always remember.
I'm a drummer and I think he's so underrated. All the Prog-rock guitarists gettin' the praise i.e. Tosin from Animals as Leaders. Have you seen the live version of Teppai doing Deadbolt? He rocks so hard and it pumps me up.
OMG this band rocks. I just caught them live at the Rise Against concert in Orlando and became an instant fan. I do like their older stuff-harder much more my speed. THEY are AMAZING. So much talent.
subzeroffxi, you are crazy. I saw them in feb and Dustin is still rocking it. They played Silhouette, Abolition, and Earth Will Shake and he's spot on.
I agree with most of what you said, but Dustin has gotten a lot better at singing than he was in their earlier albums. And the Breckenridge rhythm section owns =D they keep the band on track through all the crazy time signatures they play in.
wow i was at this show years ago. nostalgic chill just ran through my body. I think this was the thursday thrice coheed show which was beyound orgasmic.
TOO good live, only saw them perform about eight songs at leeds fest 08 but it was enough to know i need to see them headline. every song by this band is excellent.
The Illusion of Safety and Identity Crisis are the perfect teenage angst albums. As you mature and grow though, it's only natural to realize that they are sort of, well, angry and a bit compulsive. It's like they grew up and with their newfound insight are able to make more insightful songs
Need to get out of a sad feelings and be happy? Listen to Sublime. Need to embrace your anger and punch a hole in the wall? Thrice is the way to go. Talent with no boundary.
I'd have to agree with you on teppei's awesomeness, but dustin's the man. he's got a great voice, you may not think so but i have yet to hear one that sounds better to my ears
@sukum17 It looks like a Flextone III, but I think it could be a Line 6 Vetta I or Vetta II. I know Dustin used them before the Alchemy Index. Then again, I don't think the Vettas came with wicker-color cloth on the front, so I'm not sure. It's definitely one of those three, though.
he doesnt forget his lyrics, when he says "...breath deeply kid" thats not a mistake, in the TAITA CD's lyrics it actually says "kid" and not "son" as he sings it in the CD.
in "if we could see us now" they said that riley is more involved in the guitar parts as the people might think... but i dont think that HE writes MOST of the guitar melodies. Nevertheless: Teppei rules
agreed.. usually its fuse that has good stuff.. fuse has had thrice and brand new perform a few times..along with coheed and cambria... mtv usually sucks lol
Don't be so ignorant. They are the same band. Of course their sound is going to change as they grow and change as a band, and as individuals. People change, and so their sound will too. But they will always be the same Thrice we all know and love.
Im glad Thrice changed and got rid of most of those fringed scene kids, the ones who remain scream "deadbolt" while Thrice are trying to play Come All you weary or any new song. Seriously, these scene fashion kids should leave this band alone, they are not to your tastes, go listen to the Used or Avenged Sevenfold or My Chemical Romance or something. Thrice are the best.
I'm not commenting on this song. I'm commenting on their live show. If you have ever paid attention to Dustin while they play, you will notice he is far from flawless. He's been doing it for years, and after awhile, you just get used to the lyrics he makes up.
Right...I guess. I'll admit they put on a live show, but they are far from the best live. He is no god, stop treating him like one. No one, especially a musician who can't remember his own lyrics, deserves that kind of praise.
