Lyrics So strange I remember you in protest of a prayer And falling back from seas we fear to sail I swear I saw the shooter, gold teeth and a double dare Postmodern warnings seem inclined to fail Feigning an apology Those words they never left your lips Those five years in Bermuda Slide by like the lights of passing ships So strange that I remember you Knee deep in Nietzsche's lies My throat was an open grave I drank your stained glass eyes And they taste like dead cathedrals That are crumbling beneath their weight Ten thousand jaded tourists Who've traded in their hearts and hands for Disposable cameras, set to document decay Set to capture just enough of life To catalogue the things we throw away (...breathing the fumes of our machines...) We've lost our way (...breathing through television dreams...) If we could only see us now If we could only see us now The words of the dead ring in our ears But it's only a lie The voice in your head brings you to tears But you don't know why The words of the dead ring in our ears But it's only a lie The voice in your head brings you to tears But it's only a lie Yes, it's only a lie ...isn't it?
Hey guys, next time you cruise by base and are in oceanside hit me up on FB or something,Travis Hay, been with you guys since the beginning and you've been with me, thank you, so much id like to ask, and now I'm crying
I have been trying for so long to play the part at 0:31 correctly but it always sounds just a bit off. I can’t put my finger on what exactly Teppei’s doing here. Any chance someone knows how to play that part correctly and wouldn’t mind sharing?? I would be forever grateful!
I am confused how Dustin feels about this song now that he is “knee deep in Nietzsche’s lies.” Used to sing about to traps of post modernism only to now be steeped in it. Yeah, I’m late to the party and just found out he “deconstructed” his faith.
What makes you think he is steeped in post-modernism? Not saying you are wrong I just know nothing about any of the bands personal politics or anything like that.
@@joghammer8117 I’m not really on social media besides RU-vid, but, in 2018 apparently, he “deconstructed.” He no longer believes the inerrancy of scripture and tweets and argues with fans while spouting relativism. He champions the “good” while removing Christ. He went from making on of my favorite worship albums with “the modern post” to stepping away. Really bummed because he and thrice were big parts of my early Christian walk. The way he spoke about his faith, his intelligent discussion of it, the lyrics. Now he spouts the same ideology he used to sing people to guard against
@@mattbertrand9496 get and listen to REM "losing my religion" and cheer up he found that he was pushing lies of a corrupt system and that he doesn't need to do that in order to be a good person and write good songs without a Christian stamp on them. thrice was never a "Christian" band. I think his lyrics are just as influenced from the bible as Edgar Allen Poe.
