That sweater is so adorable!!! Great job!!! I love that you showed the ups and downs. I totally want a reaction video in a year or two once you've gotten back into the sewing game. Love it!
big yaaay to sewing Harriet!! i enjoyed this video so much and now i'm looking forward to the next one 💕 btw, the beginner-friendly way to put the elastic in a skirt is to create a casing and then put in the elastic with a safety pin! hope this helps 💌
Thanks for posting a video you felt like didn’t end up where you wanted it! It’s so important to see the struggle in learning a new skill, I’m learning sewing as well and sometimes it feels SO frustrating seeing everyone else just excel and I’m failing and this is a great reminder to keep going
Kudos, there is so much room to growth. I started my sewing journey a week ago. Starting off with some DIY with old clothes flip... we are learning each time :)
Hey Harriet, I pray that this finds you & yours doing well. Plz don't ever feel like you need us to be proud of you to feel loved or validated. Babe you're awesome just the way that you are. And trust me I don't even have a sewing machine & I do flips that have turned out as fails. But fails can always be learned from too. So really their not fails at all. I pray that that made sense. I ❤️ you & I really can't wait for your next flip video. Actually I love all of your videos 😊😀😊! Have a Blessed & Beautiful weekend❤😘☺️
Hi Harriet 🙂 🔥🫒 You are right about the cropped shirt. It looked great from the front. I really like your ambition. We are proud of you, absolutely. I hope you make another video like this. Harriet, you're a star 🌟.
I LOVED this video!! Thank you for showing the ups and down :) I’m always a bit hard with myself too when I do something different than intended, but seeing that im not the only one really helps🩵 This summer I will also start to thrift flip again!
With the too-cropped top, you could find another similar fabric, maybe in like a darker blue shade, and cut out a piece for the back to fill in some of the scoop (I’m imagining a piece where the top edge of the fabric is a semi-circle shape that matches the scoop you cut out and then straight along the sides and bottom. But you could also make the bottom edge scooped too) and a rectangle piece for the front to lengthen (well it’d have to be cut into two pieces, one for each side, lining up with the original button edge) That way it can look like intentional! It could actually be a cool design to have the contrasting color block
Ahh so crazy seeing the top I made for you in a video 😆 not gonna lie I also have a habit of making my thrift flips too short, so you're not the only one😅
Hi Harriet!! I think you did a great job with your trial and error, it is hard to be good right off the bat! To get more practice try buying fabric and a pattern to get used to working with different silhouette’s and how to navigate darts 😊 you did great and can’t wait to see more!
I’m so impressed with the results!! And this is a lot of projects to attempt! If I had a sewing machine, I would be trying these right along with you. One thing I do know is that some of the fabrics you picked are tricky to work with, like the dress at the end, so don’t be too hard on yourself!
Love everything you.made esp the cropped sweater! But the denim dress was really cute on you to begin with. Just sayin'. I can picture it with wedge espadrilles for summer.
Hey just a tip for making the skirt, instead of sewing the elastic directly on try folding the top of the skirt down and sew around creating a channel for the elastic (remember to leave a hole for the elastic) then you can use a safetypin to put the elastic through the channel. That way you dont have to think about getting the ruffels even. Hope that makes sense
I cannot sew, not even a little, however allow me to make a suggestion. Perhaps darts in the back of the business shirt might help. I think that might help the way it sits. Again, I cannot sew so take this advice at your peril...
Sewing is so hard!!! Your level reflects my sewing level (as does the mental journey you went on). it’s a nice change to see someone who ends up with similar thrift flips to me- passable but don’t look to close lol. I can tell you learnt a lot though and so did I! And I still think you could wear all those things out plus the bag looks super professional!
You really motivated me to finally start my projects that I never did in the past 🥰 so thank you for being always so inspiring and keep going like this 💕
You are so brave omg ❤❤❤ I am very lucky that my mum trained as a seamstress and she alters clothes for me all the time. The most I can do is sew buttons and stitch up holes 😂😂😂
Queen! Love that you’re showing your journey as a beginner. I’m a serial perfectionist and I’m also trying to get better at being kinder to myself when I’m not good at things immediately lol
I loved this video Harriet!! I was noticong you getting down on yourself a lot too, you kept saying youre not good at sewing, and i kept thinking, girl I havent touched w sewing machine sonce i made a pillow in home ec. In 7th grade lol. A whole lot better than most people can do! Its nice to see something realistic. Its beautiful to see the journey and your change in mindset. Keep up the good work 💓
Totally side note, but I'm not sure if you did something different with your mic, but I love it! It was super clear and I felt like I could hear you so much clearer than other videos.
I’m so proud of you for trying it’s so hard to learn a new skill. I started painting and I get so frustrated at myself sometimes! You make me feel better! It’s okay to not be perfect right away and that’s the beauty of learning something new ❤️ makes you appreciate what you can do more! Your awesome love your channel so much
I feel like this a great opportunity for a Skillshare sponsorship! I think you did really good, you did more than take a scissors & just crop everything which is what alot of 'flips' are. Thanks for sharing and I love the tip how to move the jumper band! 🩷
Oh my god Harriet I bloody know the feeling of you doing these thrift flips and having the VISION and it just not going according to plan 🥲 Good on your for posting this anyway! I have sooo many failed thrift flips and that moment when you were re-doing the top and you were beating yourself up.... I feel that haha AND I feel like this just makes you SO relatable like - can we be friends 😂❤
