Thrift Haul || Thrift Store Finds to Makeover || Farmhouse Decor 

I lived in a small mobile home, I painted all my picnic baskets white. They fit in my decor and gave me much needed storage!

That copper bud vase and the snuffer...uhhh...looks more like a bong !!!

I have this problem to, where my car drives into the goodwill parking lot! Maybe I should get it looked at! 🤷🏼‍♀️😇

My car drove me to Dollar Tree, Home Goods, Walmart and Goodwill today. It magically knew we needed to stock up on crafting supplies. I was sitting at the edge of my seat watching you pull out one treasure after another. I love the blue glass and I like to place a little leather strip around the neck of the bottles in the style of Joanna Gaines. I almost fainted when you brought out the big pitcher! I have bought 4 picnic baskets in the last 2 weeks. I am using them in my pantry. I agree with you that they work well as a wood accent and I wouldn’t paint them.

Thank you so much for showing all the "goodies" you purchased. What fun that must have been to find them. You know at almost 93 years of age I have never seen the 2 candle holders with all the metal but the mercury glass items will look rich in farmhouse decor and the glass house is a keeper. The earthen ware bowl is great, they make them even smaller than that one as I have one that is 5 inches across top with cream band, if I only lived close so I could buy your items.

My car just happens to drift to thrift stores too 🤣. Does anyone else wish Yvonne lived near them????? I love how you look at items and see the beauty in them! I need to start a RU-vid channel so I can share my excitement over my found treasures! It’s on my “to do” list.

Years ago....20 years ago maybe, I bought a large box filled with those blue canning jars at an Auction. I have so many and they sit in a box again! Some like what you showed , some that the glass is missing but has the screw on lid....etc .... Then your large pickle jar...we live 2 doors away from a small town Diner and she puts FREE on the jars! I have so many ( praying for a remodeled kitchen to display them......🙏) Can’t wait to see what you do with it ! Oh my... just so many GREAT ITEMS ! I’m so excited, I can not wait to see your magic on them! How I wish I had my health back... I would do Facebook market place just for something to do ! ☹️ Excited HUG to you !! I could picture that rusted rack with twine and tiny clothes pins for pictures.

I think it is a wasp catcher. You want to catch the wasps and not bees (as bees are beneficial). If you add a little apple cider vinegar to the sugar water, bees will stay away and wasps will be caught!

I have collected picnic baskets for several years. We built a new home about ten years ago and I had the perfect place in my dining room to stack them. I store seasonal things in them that I don't want to get broken. I have others throughout my house to and again use them for storage to.

I really like the wood tray and the galvanized piece with handles! Little house was so cute and different, I would not been able to pass that up!

That round thing with the star on it looks like an old stove pipe cover. My grandparents had some of those!

let me add. you held up a cover plate. it appeared weighty and has a star in the center. you pondered as to what it was used for!!?? when i was a kid, my granny and aunt lived in a huge old wood house that had wood burning stoves and fire places in the rooms. the stoves and fire places were not there anymore, but there were holes left in the walls where the pipes went out to the roof top, probably into a chimney which was no longer on the roof. To cover the holes, there were these cover plates almost just like the one you held up and wondered what it was. every room in granny's house had the cover plates over a hole except the kitchen that granny called her kitchen, where she had and sometimes used, an old cast iron wood-burning stove. when she finally sold the wood-burning stove, a cover-plate was put over the hole in the wall way up high where the pipe exited the room on the wall to go up thru ??? a chimney maybe at one time. i never saw the hole, b/c the holes were covered with a cover-plate. goodness gracious, i'd give anything to have one of those old cover-plates. granny and my aunt said that the plates were sold just for the purpose of covering the hole b/c of the conversion from fireplaces to gas heaters. i hope i have made sense. thank you.

Yes to the copper bud vase ( probably a candle holder ) Usually against painting metal white but I think you should paint the silver IKEA metal flower bowel - white!

I would hang the big metal piece on the wall and hang baskets or kitchen items on it. I love anything with birds and I have a number of those iron pieces with birds on them.

The wire things are for holding pictures or cards, I think

That wire thingy is a piece to put notes and photos. Big rage about 10-12 years ago. My daughter seemed to get one at every birthday party.

You made my day when you said you love rust. My mother always said that the more rust it had the better I liked it. And she was right. I always wonder what story they would tell if they could talk.

I have a closet full of items I've picked up here and there, some are already flipped while others are waiting for me to get my mojo flowing again (long story of where went my mojo), which thanks to you and Mary @ White Cottage Co. I am slowly getting back into it. Oh and my son has started turning wood in my old barn, and just watching him turn a chunk of old wood into something beautiful has sparked me to get busy. But anyway, I said all that to say I understand a few items here, few more there and before you know it you have plenty to keep you busy. We are currently looking at how best to market our things, so thanks for mentioning Market Place. I love those big jar containers, and that red tin envelope, just love that! I have sold 3 pieces of furniture this month . It has been fantastic here in southern California. Thanks to you I have made more money than I have in years following your direction . I do not personally like white or black or modern farm house but white has been really easy to sell. And black too. I am so happy I found you .

So many great things! I love picnic baskets. I use them to hold cross-stitch projects & stack them. When I moved I found one that was filled with...oh my gosh, PICNIC stuff! Can you imagine! Love the jars & that pretty green vase. My car wants to stop at garage sales & thrift shops but I try SO hard to not go there but I think I'll let the car win pretty soon!

ok here's my picnic basket story. (NO paint for my vote!) The second one you got, we had one when we were kids. I, also, love and collect picnic baskets. My brother was here in MI from AZ, and he wanted one. They had flights back home on Allegiant, and I told him it would be a small fortune to ship it to him. SO he, of all people could get away with this, he used it as a carry on, and charmed everyone into letting him stash it in the limited overhead. Now he thinks he wants another one. ! :)

I believe the metal that had the rust on it covered an old stove pipe hole people used to take their cast-iron pot-bellied stoves that they heated their homes out during the summertime they would remove those from the home and would make more room for family gatherings for the summertime and they would cover the hole in the wall where the pipe went into the chimney with that as a decorative piece for the summertime

I'd paint the top of the plane picnic basket white; Just the top. But definitely leave the red one alone. that just screams character.

i think the star plate was on a kitchen chimney cover hat vented the stove pipe on older houses. My grandma had one at her house. Half the stove was gas and the other half was for wood.

That is a huge haul! My favorites are the courting candles, little crock, mirror and the red picnic basket! Looking forward to the makeovers!

Sweetpickins has amazing decor!! 😍😍 I love your picnic basket tower. As far as painting them...grain stripe maybe?? Julie, from Julie's designs, just freshened up a basket by painting it with watered down Waverly wax that was watered down. It is so beautiful. (She turned it into a laundry basket.)

I think those might be photo holders and the bird thing could be used for bird feeder?

The disk covers the hole where the stove pipe goes into the chimney. The stove pipes were usually removed in warm weather.

Maybe consider hanging the red metal piece. In your booth with some red handled kitchen vintage pieces. Red handled rolling pins would look nice. Everything you make is beautiful.

I’ve painted several picknick baskets- black is awesome stacked w/ unpainted. But my favorite was country green- yummy. And hey that last one is I think a Hawkeye they run 50-100. But not sure if anyone else made them- they made bassinets and picknick baskets. Elizabeth

Yvonne. I believe those springy slender things look like Christmas card holders or just card holders. You got a great haul for sure. I have a huge canvas bag of vintage kitchen tools that were my grandma’s or my great grandma’s things!

You got some great stuff! I think that thing is just called a card / photo holder. No fancy special name I do have to tell myself that I can’t keep everything, though I do use stuff around my house that is for sale. I place it and photo it there and leave until I’m through with it I have a small half circle picnic basket that I painted white and decoupage with pretty white., pink and blue with birds napkins on it and I have a large 2 handle picnic basket that painted black on the bottom as white on top and I will add pretty pattern floral white napkins to the top and a coordinating black napkins to the bottom. I get my beautiful napkins from Tuesday Morning. Many have closed but some are still open. I haven’t done the blk & wht one yet. I will put a pic on your page! when I do.

I look forward to seeing what the large aqua flower looks like painted. I have the same one that I will be hanging in our spare room (aka our granddaughters' room when they come to visit). I never thought about painting it, I'll let you do it first to see how it turns out. LOL The glass house is very pretty. I would have a hard time parting with that. Hi, I love the things you found, you have unbelievable luck. The brass and other metal piece that looks like skewers are vintage postcard holders. My Nana had one and kept it on her table in the entry. She would put postcards and Christmas cards in the rings on the top to display them. So cute, such memories.
