🤗 Thanks for sharing your life experience. Sometimes there's no explanation as to why some ppl hit the lottery by being born into wealth while others are struggling. My parents, grandparents, & great grandparents generation were very thrifty. They used to try to get maximum use out of everything as you described. Today, my clothes still need to last a long time. They go from work/church/school clothes & get downgraded to play/lounging/gardening clothes as they get more & more use. When they start to look raggedy, I might use the fabric for other household projects. I definitely remove buttons & zippers for reuse. There have been times I was absolutely thrilled😁 to get gently used hand me down socks & under garments. Although I wouldn't broadcast that fact. There can be such stupid shame attached to used clothing😔. Which is absolutely absurd bcos it makes no sense to landfill something that can get more wear. When friends or family need to down size, I enjoy helping & make sure their clothes & other items make it directly to folks in need. Sadly, our society has gotten more & more spoiled over the ages. We've started to take ordinary things for granted🤣. It's made folks more wasteful 🚮 rather than thankful, creative, & resourceful. Times are changing. 😷Covid, lockdowns, & poor management by corrupt politicians has negatively impacted our communities. 🏘Housing transportation, healthcare, & everything else is sky rocketing, esp. if you live in a big city. We gotta stretch our 💸 dollars to survive. YT channels like Well Loved is showing us the value in upcycling older garments & buying second hand. We are truly blessed to have thrift stores. You are so lucky that the colorful button up (shown at 4:38) was still there because it an eyecatching piece no matter what on the tag as long as the quality was there. Can you also talke about the belt X loops on the wide waistband 13:13 on this skirt. That dress fits you like it was made for you at 23:45, it has such a great cinching drawstrings in the back, great sun dress and love the green color. Loved everything, but most of all the dresses at the end. So glad you rescued that pink satin confection. The long floral lilac and green one is not victorian but regency style. Empire waistlines were really popular in the late 60's And early 70's, I know cause I wore these then. My wedding dress was empire. Love the look. Thanks for the video. @Well-Loved I laughed so much. This purple dress, at 26:00, is the twin of my mother's bridesmaid dresses. Please don't shorten it too much, it doesn't make sense with this cut and takes away all its charm. Even the ankles lengh don't work. I guess now you just have to find the platform shoes that go with it. To finish smiling, despite my "great age" (I'm afraid I could be your mother), I have the same flower Docs !
I love wearing and thrifitng dresses because they are so easy to throw on and look cute but you can also make them even cuter by layering other pieces with them. You thrifted so many of my dream dresses so I'm jelly.
