Living vicariously through you. I wouldn't even know how to handle this many second hand dolls being at my fingertips. Also the footage is so much better on your new phone.
I need to thank you so much for actively discouraging scalping. Even for collectors, it can be hard sometimes to not want to be able to earn money for even more stuff, so even though I hate it, I know I've participated in it and need to stop, so thank you
I know the worth of most things that I stumble upon and occasionally I’ll pick something up in the off chance a friend needs it. I’m not particularly against it as long as people aren’t contributing to the INSANE eBay prices (thrift picking is so unbelievably toxic and messed up :/ ) It’s a bit of a grey area… but just because I have the knowledge doesn’t mean I should. Yk? I’m mostly annoyed by commenters shaming me about NOT scalping?? Like?? What??
Hey Brooke, I just want to thank you - I go to a few local thrift stores and have learned to pick out the local resellers (they aren't even subtle about saying "Oh I can sell this/this won't sell/etc) and it is really annoying honestly to see the few local resellers I'm familiar with buzzing through the aisles shoveling items into their carts that I know are just going to be sold for 10x what they're paying for them. Especially when I or another collector or even a kid would have actually treasured those toys for the price they were. I love thrifting, but thrifting isn't really supposed to be a for-profit venture, it's supposed to be a way to find cool items you might not find anywhere else or for as good a price. And it's really rude and obnoxious to buy out the best stuff and resell it for stupidly high prices. I feel that this goes for any retail store - when something new drops at WalMart from a sought after line like Rainbow High, buy what you actually need for your collection/child/etc. and then back away from the toys and let people get them at retail. Nobody needs to buy out the entire stock of a brand new doll to resell for double or triple retail, it's just crappy. Not only for collectors but for parents whose kids like/want the toys too.
😫All that Monster High furniture is making me regret never picking up those sets when they were in stores! All the beds and vanity’s are so dang cute and detailed I was just so focused on getting more dolls!!! I love finding cool one off stores like these you just keep finding more stuff each time you go!
The collector barbie from savers looks like it’s 2008 holiday barbie if she’s got rooted eyelashes. Otherwise it’s most likely 2011 holiday barbie. Yes, you are right about Thumbelina; that’s her! I’m on the hunt for those dolls also, but they are oddly so expensive here in Australia because most listings are from overseas. I thrifted an Alexa from the Secret Door and she had the exact same leg problem so I super glued her hip/leg joint to be completely stilled aha. Of course it’s understandable if that’s something you don’t wish to do though. Gosh, I wish I lived near a Savers lol
Yay! Congrats on the finds Brooke:) If you haven’t found out yet, the Holly is actually from the Hairstyling set ! Side question: Who’s your favorite Bratz? :) Mine is Xpress It! Yasmin 😅😅
7:26 it sure is!!!! He came with the white cat originally and had a Doodle Bear esc concept :] I actually found them on the Walmart website last year nib for $15!!!
The small hello kitty doll is a ty little one! Its based off their plush doll line. I'm jealous, they were one of my childhood doll collections and Ive been debating re-buying them for a little while now.
I love your thrift hauls, how do you find these great stores? Please keep these coming. I also wanted to tell you what a darling you are, you are so bubbly and happy with all your dolls, nobody could be sad around you, always keep your sweet attitude.
Imagine if I was at that store with you and seeing all the Monster High stuff and that tsum tsum of Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas or that bride Ariel doll and some of the other Disney Princess stuff and Barbie I would be tempted. I am always happy for you.😁
I know you've said you hate when people say you should have bought such and such doll, and I absolutely understand why. But next time you're at that particular shop you should have a closer look at the Prettie Girls Tween Scene dolls pictured at 6:12. They're a really interesting piece of doll history, they came out from Tonner's short lived playline toy division and are at a really unique height and scale and the body was later re-used on one of my top 5 favourite dolls of all time, Maudlynne Macabre.
Omg I stopped collecting toys until monster high came out as well!! It became my obsession!!! Now I buy all types of dolls! Mostly mga dolls and the new gen of monster high
Great video again. You are so refreshing to watch. The real feelings that come out are just great and the excitement when you find what you love I totally relate to. Keep up the great work and fun times. I still have to add the trip to AZ was an awesome video. I guess i have not watched long enough to know your science background which is also awesome. My 2 year old loves your videos too. She loves dolls. More baby dolls but she does like pretty much all dolls that have a sweet face. She wanted to keep waching your videos with me the other day.
This might help with the wiggly legs on that doll. Get some of the tiny hair elastics you can find at a dollar store. I use the clear ones. Wrap one around a leg 2 or 3 times until it’s snug. Roll it up the leg to the top until it goes down in the crack between the leg and hip. Move leg up and down to let it get down in the crack. If one doesn’t work you can add more. Hopefully this will help. This works on Barbies and other dolls too.
Personal opinion but a minty Christmas is not mlps finest movie. I have a fond memory of working at my schools aftercare program and we put on a minty Christmas and I wondered the entier time how the poor mlps could act so ditsy. 😂 though the art style and generation is nostalgic to me. But yeah seeing you mention that movie brought back those memories.
Hello, I was wondering if any of you guys are from the uk? Because I have noticed that charity shops aren’t stocking dolls. Idk if it’s just my town or if it was happening anywhere else in the uk
I also have that thumbelina Barbie doll! She looks the exact same, no wings or skirt lol. My dolls legs are also loose like that so it could be the design of the doll?
Which store was the first one? A thrift store or a more vintage toy store? I want to go to a vintage toy store in my area but i dont even know what to look for? Are they called vintage toy stores? Thanks :)
@@xCanadensis Thanks, I don't have an Ikea near me. The closest one is about a 5 hour drive. I need to get some shelving to organize my dolls and quilt fabric and other craft stuff. You have a very nice doll collection.
