Dear Andrea, I agree with you and others about Goodwill prices. Everything is donated to them free of charge. I'm 77yrs old, back in the day ( 1960's) Goodwill was about the name of the store... goodwill. They were about helping those less fortunate. It appears they have become "contenders" with other retail stores...Walmart etc... I believe the best way to get Goodwill's attention is to refrain from purchasing their goods. The Salvation Army and St Vincent's De Paul truly give back to our communities and their prices are more in line with second hand items. Alrighty, I'm off my soapbox. I truly enjoyed this fall vlog. I have that turkey platter. I use to host all holiday dinners for my family. One year my little brother got that platter for me for Christmas. Don't host dinners anymore because most of my family are no longer with us. But every time I look at that platter I send a little prayer up to him. Your home is beautiful. I’m finding in our area (NC) that most of our thrift stores are very expensive. I think that’s why so many stores are busting at the seams with so many items. People aren’t buying. I pretty much pay a few more dollars and buy new now. I used to enjoy thrifting but I rarely go anymore. 😢

I prefer to pay a little more at antique stores for the curation. In some cases, the prices aren’t that different. But I really prefer to buy most things secondhand. More character and sustainable

Hi Andrea! I love your style, we have the same taste in decor. I just bought 3 of those velvet pumpkins here in Canada at Winners today, no joke. They were $5.99 Canadian each. You paid $2..99 US YES, the thrift store prices are way too high now but I must say you in the US still get way better deals and variety than we do here. Amber glassware always reminds me of fall and decided to start collecting it this year. So far I’ve found a vase, a candle holder and 3 small bud vases. I love how they look in my kitchen windows with the sun shining through the glass.

I love your channel! You have the most beautiful house and great ideas! The basket that you passed on is a ThirtyOne item. I have one and I love it because you can put a roll of paper towels on the handle( it slides out) and put hand soap and a trash bag and other items for a picnic. It is a pretty versatile basket. Hello Andrea! Hope you've had a great week😊 I love the dried chamomile, very pretty! I think the pillow covers are really pretty! Oh I love the basket of hydrangeas, its gorgeous❤ Love how you've styled it too! You've really made some very pretty arrangements! When I was a little girl my grandma had a huge apple tree & a pear tree.. those faux pears look just like the ones that were on my grandma's tree! And when they would turn a more brownish/deep yellow color, they would fall or we'd knock them down, they were so crunchy & juicy😋 Grandma always made pear preserves every year! Love the brass utensils! I have a four piece set made from the black cast iron, that are that same size. I had them hanging over my stove. I watch videos with ladies all over the US, and everyone is complaining about GW prices for awhile now. Obviously its coming from cooperate to jack up the prices. I've seen ladies in comments say they no longer shop GW because of the prices. If they keep going up on prices they're going to lose alot more business too! So no you're not cheap, those pumpkins we probably that price, maybe cheaper, brand new! Its supposed to be A thrift store & most items are used, they're ALL donated.. so why?!🤷‍♀️ That last store you visited, those cutting boards were really pretty! I love anything old & made of wood. Ohh my goodness.. that church pew was gorgeous!😮 And that sink was stunning!❤ Beautiful doors! The boat shelf was really cool. So many beautiful items in all the stores. Thank you for sharing your shopping trip & for always inviting us into your beautiful & cozy home & sharing with us, i always enjoy it! Love all your finds & all the pretty decorating. You should used that antique croc in your kitchen and store your wooden spoons and spatulas in it by your stove…love it. Need some orange and red in your home too!……goodwill has raised their prices toooo high in Georgia too…do better at yardsales….Saturday items are $1 at goodwill with the color of the week. That church pew is gorgeous…did you go back and get it???

Andrea, no, you aren't cheap. You're smart to recognize that the prices at G'will are often a little too high compared to other thrift stores. It's not that I never shop G'will but sheesh, sometimes the prices are really surprising and I skip over more items than those I consider! 🌻

I agree w you. Goodwill has gotten pricey. I always like to look for old books and even decor books that are vintage. I love that crock on your dining table!! The candles really add to it. The hydrangeas look great. How do you store them and keep them looking nice?

Love all your fall touches! Yes the Traverse City area can be costly. I just paid 2.99 for a big wicker pumpkin at my goodwill. So those pumpkins seemed pricey to me too. Even their Goodwill prices are high in that area.

Our Goodwill prices in Canada have also increased. I suspect this is due to the increased cost of their leases. Most commercial properties are “triple net”. As the landlord’s costs increase, those are passed on to the tenant. Then on to us, the customers. I appreciate that Goodwill hires individuals with disabilities. I continue to support them.

There’s 2 different Goodwills. One is for profit, the other is not. Depending on where you live, depends on which one is by you…but the non profit one makes it their mission to hire from the disabled community, so your purchase is going to their mission!!! I’m one of those folks ❤

All thrift stores have gone up significantly! It’s not like it used to be to be where you could find deals. They are definitely cheaper than retail but it’s getting close to retail especially when things are half price like at Hobby Lobby. I keep thrifting and buy what I think is worth it and leave the rest there. 😀

I just visited a local antique store here in Greenville, Ohio. I saw the same basket with the straight handle. I liked the weave, but not the handle. I am blessed to be surrounded by several amazing antique stores within a 20-30 minute radius. Often, when it's a lovely day I get in the car with my Beloved and meander the country roads in search of treasure. It may be antiques, something vintage, foraging bittersweet and other goodies or savoring some good food and coffee. As a widow, I cherish those days.😊 This is not my Home, but the Lord is so very gracious to provide, protect and pour His love out upon me as I keep my eyes toward the skies. 🍁🍂🧡

Resellers have taken over all the goodwill stores that’s why the prices are so high now I agree with you and I feel bad for people that used to go there to buy things because clothes and household item were so affordable? They are all about what resellers can buy to resell now it’s really too bad

I used to shop Goodwill but the prices are too high especially for donated items! Home Goods prices are even lower and the shopping experience is great. I like to frequent small thrift shops and find very nice items.

Goodwill Stores are so expensive and I have actually slowed down even going. I think we can blame those that buy and then resell the items for much higher. I frequent smaller thrift stores and donate to those also.

Goodwill has had to increase their prices as they pay their CEO's six figures. A lot of their help (at least in our town) are community service individuals or volunteers and the profits are supposedly going to help the disadvantaged or disabled. Yet they pay their CEO's an astronomical amount. I stopped thrifting there and only thrift at local places that support our homeless shelter or churches that have food pantries and feed local people. I won't donate to Goodwill either. I love all the various items you have used to style your home for fall. Your videos are always so calming and refreshing.
