The metal basket is actually a vintage freezer basket and the slot that is routed into the wooden shelf is for a plate. A lot of people both past and present use fine china and also stoneware like Ironstone as actual home decor. The slot in the stand would prevent the plate or platter from slipping off the shelf and breaking.
We had that wire basket in our chest freezer growing up in the 50’s/60’s. It’s vintage. The edges would hang over the edge to keep it raised over the lower area.!
The wooden paddle spoon thing reminds me of a butter paddle. Awesome finds. Love the faux flowers, boots and shelf with plate groove. The freezer basket would look awesome with rolled towels, old quilts or old books displayed. Added note: I absolutely love the music in the background. Brings good memories of my childhood.
Nice scores! The little shelf with the groove is meant to keep things like decorative plates or pictures in place so they don’t slide down and fall off the shelf. I’m not a fan of the look, but it is an actual benefit to keeping pretties safe. I love that wire basket! I’ve never been to a Goodwill outlets before. I’m trying to find one near me. I’m also scared to go, because i have no idea about the rules to pick through. I’d definitely be wearing gloves though. I always notice how my fingers and hands feel like they have a dirty feel to them when I’m getting in my car after thrifting. Maybe dish gloves would be idea haha. Keep your hands and arms clean for picking through. I can just imagine the looks on peoples faces to see me with yellow latex gloves digging through the bins! 😂 Thank you for sharing this video! Lid looks like aluminum. Avoid it as it is linked to Alzheimer's. Love the boots. Bucket is the best of all the items as galvanize is hot! Good choices!!
Kristin my tip for you would be flip the revereware pan upside down on a piece of paper, trace around the out side of it. Cut it out and fold it in quarters to keep in your purse to gauge if a lid is the right size. I did this with a Corning ware lid I was in search of. Great haul. I don’t have a bins outlet near me even though my city is the largest in my state. I will have to travel 2 hours or so.

Morning Jane! I love your comment! It reminded me of a couple days ago, I live on a lake and have been wanting a wide rim/brim floppy hat with a chin strap and guess what!!! I was on my dock and one was floating in the water right next to me!!!! I was like "THANK YOU GOD"!!!! So I pick it up, it's wicked nice and then I realize it looks like something my neighbor Brian wears🤣🤣🤣It was his😆it's his favorite hat I found out. So thank the good Lord I found it for him!😉
Clean wood with half olive oil or whatever kitchen oil you have and vinegar….buff it on with a soft cloth and then clean cloth to buff it off….if in bad condition Yiyi can leave the oil and vinegar on for a while then buff with a clean cloth
I love the Notre Dame Sweatshirt. I was born in South Bend, Indiana which is the home to Notre Dame. It’s a Catholic University with a beautiful campus. They have statues of Saints all around the campus, Mary with her palms reaching out greet you while strolling around the campus and the huge Golden Dome is so beautiful.

Kristin, the wire basket is probably from one of those chest freezers from the 50’s and 60’s. I remember moving them around in my parents freezer to get to the items on the very bottom. And I agree with what someone already posted, the slot cut in the shelf is for displaying plates and platters. I’m glad you are settling in. I enjoy all of your videos.
The boots are the best! I’d use the wire basket to hold bags of chips or those odd shaped bags in your pantry. The galvanized bucket for kindling by a fireplace.

Yeah-part 2! Love your new boots! I just bought a metal bucket at an antique mall 2 days ago. I filled it with faux light purple hydrangeas. It looks so pretty. The flowers can be switched out year round in my mind. You could do that or even put t it in the bath room filled with bath goodies-a sponge, long handled wooden back scrubber,etc.
When u start working in the garden the bucket will come in handy to haul water gather fruit, flowers anything really can use it seasonally for pinecones , pumpkins use it for a planter, decor, storage for wet umbrellas…….
The black bucket is often used for firewood/kindling, but is actually a coal scuttle. It used to hold the coal for coal burning stoves. It has the "spout" like edge so that one could sort of "pour" more coal into the fire, without blackening their hands, picking up pieces.

I am literally making brownies while I watch this with that same old time Hershey's cocoa powder tin! It is hard to open. I always use a spoon to scoop my cocoa anyway, so I just use the spoon on the edge like a crowbar to open it.
the shelf is a plate shelf. you stand the plate up in it its could be a teacup set or some sort of collectors plate. i use to have a 6 ft white one behind my sofa for my vintage blue delft plates, but since changed my decor.
Kristen, great haul! I have a galvanized bucket like the one you purchased. It is in my hallway filled with fake yellow and white tulips. It makes me smile every time I look at it!!

The groove in the little brown shelf is to hold decorative plates so they don't fall down. I grab my pot lids to cover cast iron skillets when I am cooking all the time. Works!

You crack me up !!!!! Notre Dame University is a large Catholic school in South Bend, Indiana. Now about knowing nothing about Michigan... well we should do something about that. It is the Great Lakes State. We have borders on four of the five Great Lakes, more than 11, 000 inland lakes, and we are known as the Water- Winter Wonderland. Our state was established in 1837. There are about 10 million people in the state. Most live in the "Mitten" but 3% of us, a little more that 300,000 live in the Upper Peninsula which is 29% of Michigan's land mass. Mackinac Island is the state's number one tourist summer attraction - no cars allowed, only bike, horse-drawn carriages, and foot traffic. You would love it since there is so much history there. Our small town, St. Ignace, is just across the bay from the island which can only be accessed by boat or small plane, and we are the third oldest city in the USA; established in 1671. Maybe you and your family would keep us on your radar for a summer vacation sometime. Watch the Jane Seymour/Christopher Reeve movie "Somewhere In Time" to see the Island . Keep up the good work. You got lots of great things. Those silk flowers are beautiful. The shelf slot is for plates, I think. I have an antique shelf from my aunt that has slots. And the bucket took me back to my childhood...I think from my grandparents house.
I have the same Charles Dickens book to decorate with at Christmastime! I have a coal bucket too that I use for flowers in the summer and evergreens in the fall/winter. If not Dogwood then apple blossom? The shelf might be a plate groove? I need a metal basket like that so I have somewhere to put my pillows when people take them off of the couch so they can sit down, rather than having them on the floor. lol The galvanized bucket is a perfect Zinnia bucket! I have a few of those too, yes with Zinnias, lol. Love this haul...it's so me!!! 😉
I think that I would use that wire basket next to the front or back door to throw shoes in when you come in. I love the faux flowers. They look really pretty with your wall color.

The Outlets are the last stop for this stuff before the landfill. Always save a Bible. Even if you just leave it laying at a bus stop or in a waiting room. Somebody may be truly needing a Bible.
Hi Kristen, Dogwoods here in Tennessee are white or pink, and the groove on the shelf is for plates. I’ve also used shelves like that for unframed vintage prints with a board backing. I have several of the vintage freezer baskets. I plan on cutting a thin wood base for each of them and then sewing pretty, ruffled liners to place inside each of them. We don’t have a nice outlet where I live, so you’re lucky! I loved those old prints. I would have rescued them even though the one was damaged. I’m just a sucker for artwork!😉 You’ve got great taste, I’m glad I discovered your channel!
Even though I hate to see discarded Bibles in regular Goodwill stores, I leave them with a prayer in hopes someone who needs one will pick it up. I couldn't leave one that is at the outlets thinking it will go to a landfill. On another note, great haul and so appreciate the background music 🎵🎵❤️❤️
There was an American Girl Bitty Baby Doll right next to you early on. I hope you picked it up! You know what your girls need. My 1st thought was "Blankets" in the wire basket. Throw blankets that your family can just throw on when it is chilly
The SHEIN top is called a “Mock Turtleneck” (in other words if you don’t like to wear full on turtlenecks, if that is just too warm for you “ Mock Turtles” might be a good choice 💜
The flowers are either apple or cherry blossoms. And the shelf notch is for a plate or cold also be a picture so they don't slide off shelf. Also Revere Ware fry pans do not come with lids. When I go the two sets I have had in the past the stock pot lid worked for both.

If the sandels are 100% leather uppers you can take the dark color in them there is shoe polish that tone and change them to all dark.....fyi. Its worth a try. I changed the color if a handbag with dark shoe polish!
My son works at Notre Dame. It is in South Bend, IN. I think on that shelf lt is a plate groove thing to put a plate so it doesn't slide Off the shelf. And lean against the wall.
Please do a “how-to” of shopping the goodwill outlet! I went one time and was completely overwhelmed that I had to leave! It would be so helpful to know how to shop the outlet!
Loved the total haul and I have found vintage buckets like that at garage sales in my area (I live in farm country). I use them in the fall to put my mums in them for my outside decorating and it's an adorable farmhouse look! I laughed when I saw the Notre Dame shirt I live 45 min from South Bend & nope we're not ND fans either lol and I'm pretty sure that line In the shelf is meant to prop up small plates so it would look cute w/vintage plates on it imo
I have a couple of those metal buckets and we use them as small trash bins but as a plant pot they'd be cute as well. Also Notre Dame University is in South Bend Indiana but it's so cute that you disclosed that you dont know anything about it :D
My mom and I finally made it to the goodwill outlet! So many good finds! It is so sad thinking about so many good things could end up in the landfill! I loved going though! Definitely an experience 🤣
