Today Caitlyn & I are out thrift shopping in Sydney, attempting to find Dark Academia Plus Size clothing!!! This was such a fun video to film - I would LOVE to do this again, but we are going to try to thrift online next time, to see if we have better luck finding dark academia outfits. I’m so worried that all these negative comments are going to ruin thriftmas. It was my favourite thing last year and I don’t want it to stop. If you don’t like her hair, that she’s with friends, that she orders online, click away. Why drag her down when she’s doing so much for her subscribers?

You know, since that banana dress fits Caitlin so well - even though the print is hideous - it might be worth taking apart the dress and using the pieces as pattern guides to make a new dress with material of her own choosing? Might be a good project since I think you mentioned that Caitlin did textiles? And maybe Sam could help too

I was the person who bought the two small Barbie tops and the Barbie skirt. I spent the last four hours before the drop watching all your videos to see what you could be posting and figuring out what I wanted try and get. I was refreshing the store starting 5 minutes before the drop time because I knew everything would be gone within minutes of the release. I’m so thankful to have been able to buy something from you and can’t wait to get my package, all the way from Australia to Louisiana in the US!

6:47 it’s called Goo Gone and it’ll take off any adhesive with no effort and it won’t damage your dishes or mirrors or anything. I use it all the time. 10/10 will save your nails.

LOVE these thrifting videos. Nice how "the universe" made sure that Alex got a matching pillow and Caitlin rediscovered THE banana dress. These thrifting videos are my sports videos with me yelling at the screen saying get that or oh no. My favs were Alex's black dress and Caitlin's black (red lined) coat.

Seeing all those gorgeous gowns at the first shop gave me an idea… what if (after you have a breather from all the thriftmas content) you did some sort of thrift/styling thing for the whole gang. You could do dinner or DnD or whatever at your house and have a specific theme -anything! Maybe “hamptons” or something to match your decor… then either a) you set out to find a thrifted outfit for everyone invited that fits within the theme, or b) you give your pals a budget and a challenge to find a thrifted outfit based on the theme! I’m sure you have a ton of content ideas, but those gowns got me thinkin! Thanks for all the thriftmas content, Alex! Take care!!

There's so much more intrinsic gratification with thrifting vs retail clothing .... if I thrift something 10 outta 10 it becomes a forever favourite and doesn't end back at the opshop....vs things I've bought from a mainstream fashion store .. it's replacable.. it doesn't hit that spot...it was easy to obtain . . Thrift clothes for me and things are like treasure 😍

I’m assuming there’s gonna be more thrifting pots/decor and I’m so excited to see it! That was my favorite part last year bc that’s what I usually thrift for. I’m midsize and from a very small town so there’s almost no good clothes for me to thrift BUT there’s tons of fun decorating/furniture things. Throwback to the spray painted expensive vase last year. I still can’t believe that happened lmao!

Really love thriftmas so far! Helpful tip for the tag problem at 6:38 is to heat up the area where the tag is using a blow dryer. Blow hot air on to the area for a bit and then try peeling the sticker off, it works like a charm. I use this trick all the time for books with stickers on them :)

I believe the portrait cameo necklace is Sarah Coventry, a jewelry company that used the home party sales structure, similar to Avon. The black coat is probably 100% wool which is what makes it so heavy and very well made with so much tailoring. That was a real find for Caitlin! Looks great on her! I love when you do these vids with your friends. It gives everyone something to relate to.

I want to bet that half the pockets that Alex deems fake, are in fact just basted closed to hold the garments shape. Can we please teach more people about this? You're supposed to remove the basting stitches wit a seam ripper. Just feel the clothing from the inside, you can usually feel the lining forming pockets.

When Caitlyn first walked in, I thought that she’d cut her hair into a chin-length bob for a second, and was like “that looks really good” before I realized that her hair was actually pulled back into a ponytail. That being said, now I think that you should convince her to cut her hair into a cute bob before the end of the year.
